I have all the seasons on DVD. When I go back and watch them you have even more of an appreciation for the writing and acting. How things are tied in nicely. How one character may say a similar line that the other character said to them in another episode or season. Like Brother who said something similiar back to Omar a season later. It's the little things that make this show magical. To me, this is the best cable show that was ever created. Don't get it twisted, there are many good ones, but this is just the best in my opinion.
Said to anyone who'll listen this is the greatest TV show ever made. I'm in my late 50s now and I stand by that. The best thing is that it is ageless, so if you haven't watched yet, do so, you have a real treat in store.
Thank you for uploading this, I loved seeing everyone and wish it could have gone on. Best show, best writing, best actors, script, all of it. The Wire!

Sonja seemed like such a pro in S1 its mad to hear what she was going through internally. A strong diverse female who didnt ram it down everyone's throats. She showed how skilled she was rather than being constantly told how amazing she is by other characters. We see how shes the most capable presence most of the time and finds a similar spirit in McNulty
Why ? Look at the sopranos it didn’t work The wire doesn’t need a film each season is essentially a 13 hour film In 2 to 3 hours it wouldn’t work. A big problem of season 5 was that it was rushed because they had less episodes.
one thing I heard on this show many times by the officers was "sh!t bird" and the first time I ever heard that was on The Sopranos when Tony was yelling at uncle Junior " I'M NOT GONNA LET YOU AND THAT SH!T BIRD (Ritchie Aprile) FUK IT UP" lol

Yeah breaking bad is more of a thriller for sure. Breaking bad is certainly a top ten show ever made. No question about that, but it has absolutely no right ever being ranked above the wire. It’s just not even in the same class tbh. I’m saying this as a huge breaking bad fan, but the wire is simply the best written, most well executed, and important tv show ever. Breaking bad is a fantastic tv show, but the wire transcends the medium in its scope, ambition, and message. The wire is the goat tv show by far
2 different shows tbh, while breaking bad tells the story of a father while The wire shows the story of a entire city. Both shows are in my top 3. Think i place OZ 3rd, 1-2 im not sure. :) We all have different views of it all. In the end, awe f some show!

I remember watching this when it was first aired on UK television maybe 15 yrs ago ...The wire was just perfect , episodes left me shocked, some left me with a lump in my throat and tears from the very first few minutes, like the shootout leaving a mother's child upstairs dead and her scream. When Stringer seduced D'Angelos woman and got him strangled to death in prison, that was truly chilling. Season 2 though I have to say, gave the scope of everything but it went astray a bit and the idiot nephew with the duck etc was just annoying, Cacetti was annoying as all hell but it is the heaviest and the best television ever made and I doubt anything like it will come again so truthful and real. TV/ cinema/ novel whatever but a story that had to be told.
