  • The late-season avocados in South Florida are done. Very sad about this but I learned a lot.

I love the way information is passed on. It can be written down, saved as data, hard copies made.. but if there is no one to study it then it’s all a loss. The best way of learning is human to human teaching, passing on knowledge not just information, but a passion and excitement and energy that come with it. Agriculture is a very in depth process and study and we need to keep it alive. Practicing and working it every day as a living example of your knowledge and contribution. It’s a real beautiful thing.

Thank you Paul for your videos! I have been binge watching all your videos and went out and bought 6 fruit trees! And papaya and bananas! I planted my first mango right away since moving to Florida 3 years ago and had my first 5 mangos! Planning to buy some land and grow my own food! Your videos have been so helpful how to grow things in Florida! I’m used to the PNW gardening so I’m very new to this! Please never stop making videos!

I have access to a Lula tree. I started picking the fruit in late September, which was a little too early. By mid-October they were fine, and I picked the last bucket on January 24. I believe there are still some fruit at the top of the tree so Lula has about the longest season of any avocado I know of. They'll just hang there and wait for you! The flavor of Lula is sweet and mildly cashew-like, about as flavorful (degree of flavor) as a Choquette, a Monroe, or a Wurtz, and I'd describe the texture as dense and a little dry. It has a large seed. I like Simmonds for an early avocado, but so far I've never tasted Dupuis. Hopefully next summer!

Loved it; thanks Paul. My Lula tree skipped (blooming & fruiting) this season as it had so many on it last season and went very late with many of those fruits. They were delicious. Right now everything is on the verge of blooming, with swelling buds. I expect maybe some Oro Negros, a few Fantastics, and maybe a Mexicola Grande or two (and Lulas again in late 2023--barring any hurricanes). Many of my trees are still young.

    Hello Paul,
You have been very helpful to me when it comes to my plants. I watch your videos a lot before I go to buy a fruit tree. I would like to get your thoughts on the Donnie avocado when it comes to the taste? If you don’t think it taste good, I’ll stop work the plant before it gets big.

Paul very nice video and information, but you weren't stressing on day avocado so that means it's a lower tier.

The more sun you get on trees the better they will do but most will do okay in partial sun.

I had ordered Brogdon, Taylor and Oro negro avacados from Lara farms website when they were in season and suprisingly the Taylor avocado was my favorite! It tasted better then a hass and i sctually liked the fact that it was smaller i could finish one in each meal. Oro negro was right behind the Taylor but the Brogdon was not for me
