This strategy totally worked for a few of my kids, but I also had two bold, strong-willed kids that this absolutely did not work on. They were prepared to stand toe to toe to see who would win the bedtime battle! Boy did I learn a lot. With six kids with different personalities and different ways of accepting discipline and rewards, I have definitely tried it all! I share what I’ve learned on my channel and really appreciate learning from other mom’s like you!
Being specific really helped me even when I was close to twelve. I had a lot of anxiety and knowing exactly what my mom was doing when I was alone in my room comforted me.
Makes sense, here in latam you could easily get killed and/or robbed at night, no matter how well protected yor house seems to be. I'm pretty sure I would feel anxiety as a kiddo if I knew all about what could happen at night.
In my opinion the best way is to have a family member record themselves telling some interesting stories and then have the kid fall asleep to it (my parents did this for me)
Me too! I am in grade 5 and I really should sleep by myself. But last night I just cried and cried when I tried to sleep by myself, my mumcame in and said it was fine but the truth is my dad had said I was the strongest person he knew and he was proud of me. We do a sticker chart with our son too. He's 3.5 and has always slept alone, but getting the bedtime routine to be less than a million hours/goodbyes/drinks/stories/songs long has been a struggle. We also have an alarm clock that has a stop light on it and when it's red he stays in bed, when it's yellow he can play quietly in his room, and when it's green he can come out. He loves it!

definitely a transition this with my daughter. she was a cosleeper with me and it was harder for me to get used to her warm cuddles! but a tip: I started with laying down next to her until she slept, snuck out and the first few nights she noticed in the middle of the night but it got less and less until it became the whole night! and doing a bedtime routine from start to finish and consistency allowed her to prepare to sleep alone. IE bath, brush, bedtime story, good night kisses from the whole family, picking a bedtime pal stuffy and then lights out.

Do it really early! I took my sons crib away at 14 months. He did really good the first night sleeping in his toddler bed. As long as they have their favorite toys and blanket in the bed. And NEVER accustom your babies/toddlers to sleep on your bed. Do not rock them to sleep after 4 months. This will save you one day.

Even if I'm late, I'd suggest getting a nightlight or thinking about something that keeps u calm at night. When I learned about momo and suicide squidward, I always kept the light on and I'm 14 xD sometimes it's better to distract your mind while your going to sleep so u won't think about it. Do it really early! I took my sons crib away at 14 months. He did really good the first night sleeping in his toddler bed. As long as they have their favorite toys and blanket in the bed. And NEVER accustom your babies/toddlers to sleep on your bed. Do not rock them to sleep after 4 months. This will save you one day.

Even if I'm late, I'd suggest getting a nightlight or thinking about something that keeps u calm at night. When I learned about momo and suicide squidward, I always kept the light on and I'm 14 xD sometimes it's better to distract your mind while your going to sleep so u won't think about it. I started sleeping in my own bed when I was 2 years old but my brother didn’t until he was like 8 even though his room was closer to my parents room and he didn’t even have a door to his room it was a curtain he still chose and old uncomfortable living room sofa instead
I remember when I was little and my mom would lay in the bed with me for maybe three minutes. Once my mom didn’t come back tuck me in and lay down with me. I literally cried.
When I was small, I used to ask my dad to scratch my butt 😂😂
