      You are on the right track. I cancelled Spectrum cable. Now to watch full NBA games with streaming I have to get NBA league pass. To get rid of commercials, which I don’t have with other streaming, costs $115 per year.
      But that is not worth it because with NBA league pass I can’t watch live LAKERS & CLIPPERS games or nationally broadcast games on ESPN, ABC or TNT! The NBA wants to force me to get cable again, which I refuse to do!
      It’s crazy. The family of the coach of the Lakers can’t watch Lakers games live from home because JJ doesn’t have cable!

      Not the main problem. The sport is the problem. Not sure if you actually believe that but if you think there are millions of fans crawling up firewalls to watch but just can’t and just ignore the extra loud complaints about the game
      Itself from fans who actually go to game s that’s actually kind of funny.
      JJ is a case study in Dunning Krueger, low IQ and high ego. I’d try and stay away from their takes probs. It’s not what the fans are actually saying no it’s umm…a TV show’s fault 🤣

    I don't see anything wrong with what JJ said. Me personally,i stopped paying attention to regular season and mainly just watched the playoffs for the past 10-12 years, but that's only because it was obvious how much more intense the games are during the post-season,especially since the playoff games have more weight to them. The worst era of the NBA was the KD- warriors era ,where it was so obvious who was winning the title every year...there were zero threats to their title runs- they stomped every team in their playoff runs. Since that time however ,the NBA is in a great position ,where a different team has won the championship every year from 2019 onwards. The nba is in a good place right now,but for some reason there's this random narrative that exists that it sucks. It's a very counter-intuitive mindset,because it doesn't accomplish anything to say the nba sucks right now. JJ is right...from a business perspective ,you should always celebrate your product and never downplay it,and the NBA as it stands currently is a great product.

    • @RRRRRRRRR33
      @RRRRRRRRR33 17 дней назад +1

      It's complicated because the NBA is instigating apathy for a long time now. When the fans stop being mad with the coward "stars" joining forces, the 3pt festival and so on, this is the lowest point. Nobody cares about the regular season, the playoffs also lost much of it's relevance (many people asking the first round of the playoffs to return to the 5 games format). Some people goes as far to incentivize a shortened regular season, which is crazy to me, teams are playing 82 games in a season since the Bill Russell days, the current players are so soft and fragile, they just can't keep up the pace? Modern medicine and all, they just can't. Get that shit out of here, nobody cares about the "media" anymore, the information era made them obsolete for better or worse, the main issue is simple: the players stop caring, they got pampered and accommodated (thanks LeBron), if the players are apathetic, obviously the fans are going to feel apathy as well

    Too many threes early in the shot clock with no one to get the offensive rebound instead of driving to the basket for open layups in transition is a recipe for disaster JJ. Points in the paint will open up good 3pt shots. You don’t start off the game just jacking off long range shots. Even Darvin Ham knew this. Even if Curry was on the Lakers, shooting long range shots to begin the game is just bad coaching. If there is a lane to the basket, it should always be taken. Get to the free throw line and get the other team in foul trouble. Long range shots have to happen organically, you can’t just force them. Every time I watch the Lakers, Bron and Rui are jacking up 3 pointers in transition instead of getting to the rim. Let them drive to the rim and kick out the ball to Knecht or DLo for corner threes. The only team that is built to take a lot of three pointers are the Warriors, Celtics, Knicks, Suns, and Mavericks. Other teams need to focus on getting to the basket and better shot creation. I’m not saying play like you are in the 90’s or 80’s, but it’s just a three point contest instead of real basketball being played now.

    Reddick might have a point why viewership is down with cable cutting, but that is only a small portion of it as I know more people who have traditional cable than who have cut the cord. Reddick dismisses the idea that the products bad by saying its the most talented and skilled since past 18yrs...is it though?? Think with the rules being so advantageous to offensive players now it may seem like more skilled and talented but thats because the element that the fans like has been taken out...the defense! So has the appearance of skill and talent risen in the past 18yrs possibly, but only because the rules benefit that style play which does not allow defenders to really lockdown a player which would cause dynamic passing and a certain level of IQ to approach offense in a way that is more engaging than just standing around waiting to shoot a 3 while one person dribbles the life out of the basketball. Being competitive on both ends as we saw a exhausted yet great MJ literally play sound defense make free throws layups and eventually the historic last dance shot to win a championship. Adam Silver even admits Jordan is his favorite player please dont tell Lebron...Its sad that he claims Jordans his fav but removes aspects of the game with rule changes that create a product that has diminished from the luster of the past especially the 80s 90s and early 00s era. We saw teams and players will their way to victory on sheer determination, now we now who will be champion days before because the televised notes were found in the trash can that gave the directory of how the game would progress and who the decided victor will be. How can we get excited about pre orchestrated "live" games...it just dont hit the same. Reddick just needs to stick to concentrating on his team staying above 500 this season and focus on reducing LBJs minutes to help the effectiveness of the Lakers increase.

Nowadays teams are very different between them. Some are pick and roll and isolation heavy like dallas and okc, some depend on off-ball movement and positiong like the warriors, some play fast, some play slow, some defend with 5 guards and switch everything, some rely on 2 bigs anchoring the defense. • @bb1111116
      @bb1111116 Месяц назад +2

      I agree that the lack of new NBA superstars is a factor in the decline of NBA ratings. Part of this has to do it seems with small market players not seeming to be as popular as big market players. One sign of this is that the highest NBA jersey sales are for Steph and LeBron, who are at the end of their careers. Another sign is that hyped new players like Ben Simmons and Zion Williamson have been huge disappointments.
      The other reason for lower ratings is that to see all the NBA games a person has to have cable and even JJ Reddick doesn’t have cable. NBA fans prefer streaming, but there is no streaming option, which allows someone to see all the games.

The future stars are trying to maximize their pay with very little effort. Who cares about players who dont want to battle and compete and just want to stat pad and look good. From an athletic standpoint, players are better than ever and JJ is correct that the talent level is as high as it has ever been. But the game is damn near unwatchable for me so there isn't anything to celebrate. Yes, the infatuation with 3 pointers is a big part of the problem, but I also miss the rivalries. I think all these guys growing up as friends and bonding over the Olympics may play a part for me at least as to why I don't care as much about the NBA. Lakers/Celtics HATED one another, everybody hated the Pistons, Jordan wanted to destroy everyone in his path... These guys don't care as much about winning or losing - that should be evident to everyone. They get paid ridiculous amounts of money for mediocre results and do not care about whether fans enjoy the product. That includes "coaches" like JJ Redick that have ZERO experience in their field but can land a job with one of the most storied franchises in all of sports. JJ's paychecks will cash, and he'll to back to being a talking head when he is eventually fired. (Probably with a pay raise to boot)

    I was one of the BIGGEST Lakers fan; Since Magic days, and Kobe, and one fo the arguably best Centers EVER in Shaquille O'Neal and the crew!!
    NBA officials did this to themselves! I used to just can NOT wait to get home and turn on the TV to watch the lakers! " For crying out loud; I just received a $300 haircut and I got shaved balled the next day at A1 Carbide, because I was betting my coworkers that Lakers will win against the Blazers the next day!"
    NBA officials started to punish the big markets teams like the Lakers for having to much money and being able to attract players that would help the Lakers win! Just like the Lamar Odom trade that was blocked by the league! For who??; To have some little town that only cares about basketball and watches football or cricket instead?!? THATS RIDDICULOUS!!
    LAKERS CAN NEVER WIN ANYMORE , BECAUSE THEY ARE BEING PUNISHED BY THE LEAGUE WITH PENALTY TAX AND NOT ALLOWED TO GET THE PLAYERS THEY NEED TO WIN AND MAKE THE GAME FUN TO WATCH ANYMORE!
    It's not fun to log in and stay there FOR 45 MINS and watch the Lakers struggle and lose night in and night out.
    After years of watching them struggle, I turn on the TV and when I see them lose; I just get all mad and turn it off, and watch FOOTBALL instead!
