- SMPS Have Low Output Voltage, How To Repair Switch Mode Power Supply SMPS When Low OutPut Voltage. in this video i uc3842 based flyback Switch Mode Power Supply SMPS. its rated output voltage were 12 Volt and 5 volt but after failure, its 12 volt section dropped to 3 volt and 5 volt output dropped to 0.7 volt. i checked input voltage, dc rail bulk capacitor, RCD snubber and finally i found 4x output dc capacitors were internally open. after replacing the capacitors the supply started to provide its nominal output voltage. after watching this video you can capable to:-

Like this in one of my power supply I changed the capacitor to get back 12V but when I connect a 12v fan (0.12A) voltage dropped 3.7V and the fan spins very slow. Which component would be responsible for this? Hopefully get some answer in one of your future videos.

عالی بود استاد لذت بردیم لطفا در خصوص نحوه ولتاژ گیری با اسلیسکوپ یه توضیح بفرمایید میدونیم که در ولتاژ گیری با اسکوپ اول باید ضریب ولتاژ مناسبی را تعیین کنیم تا شکل موجملن از صفحه اسکوپ بیرون نره و بعد برای انتخاب تایم دیو یا همان زمان تناوب باید رو چه زمانی تنظیم کنیم مثلا ۲ میکرو ثانیه یا اینکه چطوری باید زمان ولتاژ پنج ولت یه کیلو هرتز را را روی اسکوپ تنظیم کنیم

Hi, my 120W (12v 10A) smps output voltage good but output current very low, i am unable to use 12v 5A load even in smps no voltage fluctuation or down very stable voltage, i checked all components are good in pcb, but low output current, so what component to be replace in smps ? waiting your reply

it is around 3000USD + costly in routine maintenance & accessories
(my suggestion is get HAKKO 701 or any HAKKO brand, that is Japan Made, cheap, very low maintenance)

I have a question sir, i have a treadmill motor control board which i am repairing, the input voltage is 234v, and AC voltage on bridge rectifier is 234v but the output of the bridge rectifier is showing 210v. Where could be the problem? I replaced the rectifier but still shows the same.
please check main DC capacitor, it is surely open from inside or may be its track is open or may be some NTC or PTC is open
clear the circuit from Bridge rectifier to the main dc capacitor

I have a similar SMPS where the 5V output is good but the 12V is low. I swapped out all the output capacitors with new ones. I also checked the output rectifier diodes and they are good as well. Any idea what could be causing this? All the resistors are within tolerance. Also as a side note there are two trim pots. One adjusts both output voltages and the other appears to do nothing. Do you know what a second trim pot on an SMPS is for? Perhaps to adjust overload protection limits? I can't find the schematic for it anywhere.

Assamu aalekoum . A question. Why som of power supply 12 volt 2 amps has the tl 431 with 1 resistor in the gate going to the positive . Without resistor to negative i try to change the voltage it cannot go more than 15 volts but . There is no zener diode. Shukran شكرأ

you must locate the Pin 1 of TL431 there must a voltage divider network (2 resistors in series connected between +ve out and ground. center node will connected to pin of TL431
or there may be zener diode connected between pin 1 and ground

Sir g, uc3843 se max kitna power ka smps design kr sakte hai? aap ek video me bole the ki 15-18 watt, par koi koi 120watt ka bhi banye hai to vo jada din nhi chalega kya?
as this IC is used to drive single mosfet
single mosfet is used to drive flyback and boost converters. so flyback designs safe range is less than 100 watt. above 100 watt it becomes difficulty in regulation
best design with excellent control is between 10 watt to 100 watt
above 100 watt, then we need bipolar meganet designs like half bridge, push pull etc

Hello..i was trying to repair a dead small selfoscilating smps(there Is no switching IC.only 2 transistors)..i found a shorted zener diod e in secondary side i removed It and without replacing It..i plug the Power..then One transistor in primary side exploded!!! What am i wrong??!

Hi sir, I have one smps, it has output voltage dc24v/20A and 27v/2A. Output is coming correct, while giving the load the smps getting vibration sound. So what is the problem in that sir
Sir the voltage at main filter is present and no voltage at the secondary output what happen to the voltage at the input pin of the optocoupler sir tnx
check startup resistor and vcc voltage
check switching frequency of the PWM IC, if it is not switching then may be you need to replace IC
i will suggest to check video number 528, that covers almost all common faults .
