I have to watch in low light because light hurts but great work I got a shattered hip a amputation and cancer but thanks to you all my mind is on something else for a bit.... Also love it
STAR TREK ODYSSEY THE SERIES??? GOOD, THE STARSHIP ODYSSEY????? ITSELF?...GREAT BRILLIANT!!!!!..... THE LOOK OF THIS SHIP IS VERY WELL DONE..... EVEN SUPERIOR TO PICARD'S ENTERPRISE IN LOOKS...... THE THEME??? VERY GOOD TOO. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 STARS!....
Because Star Trek isn't about battles. It's the one failing that started to affect the series, especially Star Trek: Enterprise. Some of the phrases that were heard the most were; "They're charging weapons," "Hull breach on deck (whatever)," "Shields/hull plating at (something) percent." etc. Action scenes in Star Trek are awesome so long as they are not over used, which is what happened in Enterprise and even Voyager. Star Trek isn't about fighting all the time.
11:20 - nice use of the main theme turned minor! 11:30 - Our heading will take us to a giant sfz - one of the biggest we've ever seen. Sfz? . . . a sforzando?
I like the ship design, it is a mixture of Galaxy and Sovereign, so I wonder if this is a canon ship class, or if it is a great fan made design? Anyway keep on doing what you are doing.
Question: Why would the engineer have to "build" a new slip stream core? The specs for that item would still be in the master computer and they have REPLICATORS. Think people, think.
Jeff Dean Even if they could replicate what they needed (which ships replicators have always been shown to be limited in that regard when it comes to more complex components) they would still need to put it together. So "build" would still apply.
The Outcast You're playing semantics here and there's nothing I hate more. Yes, if they replicated it they *may* still have to build it (although that is questionable and it seems to me they could simply replicate the whole thing assembled and ready to go). The point here is they say they cannot build one because they don't have the replacement parts. They replicate food all the time, food is far more mechanically complex than an engine part.
Oh, you mean like that Voyager episode where they replicated an entire warp coil assembly, all ready to go? Oh wait, no... they weren't able to do that. Because again (and seriously, not a difficult concept to grasp) there are limitations on what starship replicators are able to do. There always have been. Whether you agree with those limitations is irrelevant, the canon show put them there.
The Outcast So, they can replicate complicated living organisms (food) that are FAR more complicated than any machine man could design but an engine coil, that's too complicated? Did it ever occur to you that this is a plot hole even in the Voyager show? Oh, no wait that's not possible, there can't be a plot hole in an official franchise show? LOL
It's not just Voyager, but the other shows too. Also, not actually food. They explained that in one of the TNG episodes. It's basically poop. And of course there's plot holes. What a ridiculous statement. There are plot holes going all the way back to TOS. The thing is, those plot holes are canon. You're opinions of those plot holes are not. Deal with it. Or not, I really don't care.
They had more resources and even though it was a different quadrant, they more or less knew the galaxy, not only that but they had a more cooperative team than they did in this.
True, my great grandma still had her Scottish accent, I suppose that actor Matthew Montgomery's heritage holds true with his last name. My Great Granny would say that a Scott is far from a Welch. She new I was a breed, Welch, Scott & Irish. I am proud of all three. They immigrated to the United States and helped build late 19th & 20th century America. My last name has been here since the early part of the 18th century America.
Even a Welsh individual may come across the opportunity to spend time with a Scottish female on a few dates, and then eventually simply decide to live in Scotland henceforth. Eventually, such an individual can quite naturally wind up acquiring such a *fusion of accents. I know this for a fact, because that's what happened with me. Besides this all, yes this was truly the excellent performance creation.
Star Trek Voyager WAS about fighting at a crucial point, due to the fact that the ship and crew were thrown 75 light years into the Delta Quadrant, as was seen to be basically marauded through by the Borg, which dominated the quadrant. This takes place , to me at least AFTER Nemesis. For what Rob Caves and company have assmbled here, QUITE good! As for battle sequences in the opening titles, considering there is a KNOWN hostile here with the Arkans and that Odyssey was in the middle of a firefight when they became lost. No real surprise there. I like the changes to the opening titles, reflects the growing dimensions of what this crew is facing, When it comes to the Star Trek Universe, I think Gene would have been a bit more open minded than some of the "fans" are.I have been a fan since "The Cage". That will tell you how old I am!
My perception is indeed based on growing up watching TNG. DS9's Dominion War arc was an interesting change from the "peacenik idea" but the producers didn't fall into the trap of having battle-heavy episodes all the way through the last two seasons. As Voyager moved to its later seasons, followed by Enterprise, I feel that the writing always fell back on the "they fight" motif which just became repetitive. There seemed to be a lack of ideas on how to resolve a plot development beyond fighting.
I've watched the first five episodes and despite my reservations, I actually found Star Trek: Odyssey to be entertaining and well written. Your season one title sequence was brilliant. Very reminiscent of Voyager with a surprisingly pleasant theme tune. I have just started with your season two and then I watched the new opening credits. I have to say they are terrible! Why oh why are there battle scenes in the opening titles of a Star Trek show? Never put battle scenes in the opening titles!
I thoroughly enjoyed this, especially after this troop's initial efforts which, in all fairness, were pretty ... rough. Frankly, I wish the production had dismissed itself from the "Grey"/Close Encounters of a Third Kind aliens altogether. That, and those early episodes, were so awful that, a'la James Crowley's Trek show, it's simply best to pretend they didn't exist. Warm-up sets, if you will, especially given the almost comical similarities between the "Grey" and Andromedan aliens ...
This one confuses me as far as timeline. We have a Original Serise ship and computer with a Voyager sick bay and talking about a ST Discovery engine (slipstream) lol
Discovery uses spore drive not slipstream, slipstream is an alien technology from the Delta Quadrant found by Voyager and retrofitted to shorten their travel back home, same as they did with Borg trans warp tech.
As of timeline, this happens after the Dominion wars and the Voyager's adventure which happened parallel to each other, check the Voyager's episode with the ship USS Dauntless, it will all make sense after you watched it.
Ah... well, sure, it isn't only about fighting battles. But, there have been a lot of episodes about fighting and war. I recall that the the last two years of DS9 were about the Dominion War. I think your peacenik idea of Star Trek is based on the early years of TNG which (if my memory serves me right) were very pacifist in nature.
I wanna know what and who the same 21 losers who down-voted the last two or three episodes in a row now. This is pretty damn pathetic and one of 21 reasons why this is nothing but fake after school project called " operation thumb in bum". I will list 3. 1- some nerd club had a fight on who has the better fan series and they plotted their sabotage while mom makes sandwiches so they took a break from learning the Klingon language to down-vote the "Might and Magic's " choice for best series. 2- A schoolyard fight similar to the old Little Rascals Debate between Stymie and Alfalfa of "who is stronger, Tarzan or Flash Gordon" instead it was about this series while taking a break from Dungeons and Dragons. 3- A bully after punching a science student leaving extra credit after hours club called "The Bunsen Burners" was threatened by the bully that if he did not see exactly 21 down-votes on "Hidden Frontier" channel that the next time it will be a box of crayons shoved up his nose while waving a shoe horn near said nose.
If these women wouldn't bitch all the time, this could be good. Like this it gets annoying after a couple episodes. This infighting is usually a sign for the writers having no idea how to create an interesting story, so they appeal to emotions. No idea why they use so man worn out stereotypes when they actually have a very good story line? The actors generally do a very good job, but you can see that the production budget was small. Overall, not bad, this captures the spirit of Star Trek well... to a degree.
Kind of lame too much green screen of actors an horrible acting of those with terrible makeup. I know budget is an issue but there needs to be improvement.
Get rid of everyone but the doctor, Maya and the Romulan, Everyone else blows. Especially the whiny little engineer. What's up with all the feminine male characters?
If you've watched this series from it's inception it should be clear by now that it's creators think there is a direct correlation between homosexuality and space exploration because they go into great detail about the homosexual relationships between the space explorers in their series.
Jeff Dean Do you mean the original Star Trek or this incarnation Star Trek? Because I don't recall ever seeing gay relationships in the original Star Trek and the four sequels it spawned. As for this incarnation of Star Trek, I have watched it from it's inception. There is a clear gay presence. The notion that space exploration is somehow related to homosexuality is absurd. Furthermore, it doesn't jibe with the original Star Trek or any other Star Trek TV shows and/or movies. Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong or offensive about having gay characters in Star Trek, but gay intimacy is a different story. I, and most other people, would rather not watch that. When an entire episode is centered around a gay relationship, it makes one wonder. Are these episodes being produced for the love of Star Trek like the creators suggest, or is there a homosexual agenda afoot? Where are the heterosexual relationships? Why is everyone gay? Why must so many act so feminine? Hell, if you want everyone to be gay fine, but at least throw in some masculine gay men.
***** I'm not talking about Star Trek at all, I'm talking about this Star Trek Odyssey series brother. This isn't really "Star Trek" this is "Gay Trek."
MrDreaded yes, there has always been gay dynamic between many characters. Kirk and Spock for example (Roddenberry even admitted that one). It's just that it's inappropriate to have FULL BLOWN out there displays of affection (they rarely even do that between the heterosexual couples in that show). It has to be done tastefully. This was CRAP.
**This is a newer review. Most other older positive reviews are from ST:Odyssey's own jaded crew members. (Conflict of interest!) Such crew members are not very objective on their pet project that they hope will make them into Trek celebrities. I would hope in preserving some objectivity for the record about this video, this negative review will stay up (not be turned-in by angry Odyssey's crew members only to be mindlessly deleted here) for the public to read the other real & thoughtful side of the discussion. This film was not very good. In fact it was downright awful. Everything about this film stunk of cheapness and schlockiness. The earliest episodes are the most terrible. I was surprised to see that the knowledgeable critics did not bomb this video. They thought it had something going for it. But, the acting was just awful. There were scenes that were just plain laughable, unintentionally. There are some videos that they should never release and this is one of them. Of course I have seen worse, at least with this one I sat through the entire thing, unlike some other bombs I have had the misfortune to watch. Every now and then they have competitions to see which are the worst films ever made. I wonder if this one ever appears on their list. These projects from Rob 'Areak' Caves are merely formless fan videos masquerading as real projects of worth when they are self serving puff pieces to overload a reputable vintage IMDB site. Sorry--- Just another kiddie fan 'home movie' getting it's undeserved fake 'TV series' entry by concerted effort of fanboy collusion posters here, lies and fraud done by it's cast & crew to gain undeserved credibility, notoriety and celebrity. Look past the 'puffing' in their online comments and use you critical thinking to ask the hard questions.... other matters to examine. I don't know why this movie has so many positive reviews, my only guess is that only the Odyssey's crew people that are in this disaster would feel moved to write something about it. Since I hate this video over all others I've ever seen, I was moved to drop a little opposing viewpoint and a different viewpoint into the user comments for true balance of the facts. Internet freedom of speech should be here, also.
As someone who watched all of the episodes as they were released from 2004 onward, I can say that this "review" is just trolling in long winded paragraphs. Rob Caves wanted to make a series that encompassed all people, all races, all creeds, and all orientations. He built a universe with friends in his Star Trek club, used green screen and low res video to prevent attempts at calling it copyright infringement, and never sold anything he created. He spent his own money, created the graphics and rendering, and even had people develop inexpensive means of creating simple make up. He did this, because he loved the universe that Gene Roddenberry, and the crews of these various shows created. This episode is well written, well acted from amateur and volunteer professional actors who were trying to get their foot in the door in Hollywood. If you don't think that the scene in the conference room stands up to anything on a Star Trek series, you are deluding yourself. By this time, Rob and his co-creators had created a history and a universe that fit neatly into canon, before CBS destroyed everything. To say that it is garbage is an opinion. To infer that the work that was put into it was for nothing is ridiculous. This series had a large following in its day, and only came to an end when Rob had financial setbacks during the recession. The series was groundbreaking in the aughts, and the storyline and writing stands up to this day, 13 years after I first watched it. Feel free to disagree, but you will find that you are in the vast minority of opinion here.
@@tak178 The only person here putting out 'long winded paragraphs' of opinion, beliefs, inferrance, and hypothesis is you. How about taking my supported facts and challenging them one by one ? You won't because you can't, mate. I don not wish to get into a pissing contest of un-citated or non factual statements that goes on here with your 'smoke screen' or puffing here. I KNOW rob Caves, his friends, the USS Angeles group and worked on many if not all that club's fan videos as a person who's pro career was in such things. Rob is the one who became political with his gay agenda in all that he touched. He's a gay fanatic. The Angeles club leadership didn't go along with him due to their worries about Trek I.P. theft and his wanting to make money off this project. They told him that he couldn't use the Angeles good reputation in order to use them also in his gay confrontational Trek fight. He has misrepresented himself to all for decades now and that reflects badly on his total lack of credibility, personal ethics, and his extreme needs for online Trek gay celebrity all through this sad & embarrassing matter. He had his gay sycophants that helped him in this false achievement. Some were pro press agents with not credibility either. They only shared his gay agenda and participated on camera. You have swallowed his crud. BUT, I know better first hand. I have been active in fan videos since the early 80's. I have a collection of them given to me by the producers that I exhibit to the public with their complete support. Paramount did not end the trek fan videos matter, they came up with a list of nomalised published guidelines for any fan video producer to easily follow. Use google to research that and do your own leg work. It's all so ole and trite to me by now. But there is always another vocal ignorant and naive fan that speaks about this Hidden Frontier crud. P.T. Barum said is best, "There's a sucker born every minute!". P.S. Be sure to check out the Alec Peters VS CBS/Paramount law suit matters for more on how you're uneducated and ignorant of these many law subjects. You might be surprised how you're so easily manipulated but such Trek fan video makers and their army of trek sycophants. I always look a gift horse in the mouth like this. its safer that way. get educated.
Every few years I return to this show like now. I forgot just how well written this series was.
When good fan series were still possible - love this show
I really like the theme music. Great show and fits in really well with Star Trek. Thank u for having it easily available on youtube.
I have to watch in low light because light hurts but great work I got a shattered hip a amputation and cancer but thanks to you all my mind is on something else for a bit.... Also love it
This was an extremely well done episode I look forward to seeing dozens more. If only that were possible you are to be congratulated
Whoa....the ending left me absolutely stunned; this goes even deeper then one could have thought. 10/10
I’ve been enjoying this so much , very well told story’s of this crew an well written as well as cgi
First season down....I'm hooked! I just wish I would have known about this, er, enterprise many years ago....Star Trek has some of the best fans ever.
Good Episode! This was a well thought up and presented ST fan project, and the acting is very good for amateurs as well.
Liking this series. A lot.
Pretty good acting in this.
I love this show. Even better than official trek series.
Just found this episode. About damn time a fan film shows Romulan actors!!!!!!!! Long live the Romulan Star Empire!!

Very well done 👍
Because Star Trek isn't about battles. It's the one failing that started to affect the series, especially Star Trek: Enterprise. Movie has great acting and effects
I loved the first season and really looking forward to the 2nd
This crew should be more heroic then voyager because they were stranded much further in a whole new galaxy
11:20 - nice use of the main theme turned minor!
11:30 - Our heading will take us to a giant sfz - one of the biggest we've ever seen.
Sfz? . . . a sforzando?
Singularity Formation Zone. A zone where an Omega molecule had explosed destroying subspace and thus making Warp travel impossible within the area.
love this show
🖖
Never put battle scenes in the opening titles! Why not?
..and at 11:12 (about the english translator) the romulan lady says : Protects us all from any future hamburgers lmao
I meant at 14:12 not 11:12
geez... the way the odyssey keeps obtaining more and more battle scars I wonder if they ever considered stopping to patch up the hull
I like the ship design, it is a mixture of Galaxy and Sovereign, so I wonder if this is a canon ship class, or if it is a great fan made design? Anyway keep on doing what you are doing.

Bloody hell, why did she delete the transmission?
Rhyddid Rose Louw ; She IS section 31. Would you want a secret transmission made open public?
The doc said he was Welsh but he sounded Scottish to me 😂🇬🇧
The accest is wrong, definitely scottish. Welsh is very different.
True, my great grandma still had her Scottish accent, I suppose that actor Matthew Montgomery's heritage holds true with his last name. My Great Granny would say that a Scott is far from a Welch. Scottish-sounding, but he does make it "sing-songy" like the Welsh accent. lol 🇮🇪

Nice
The english subtitles that were perfect for season one now sucks . At 7:22 the captain says : Or for you the information out to eat a carrot lmao
where is 0.7 0.8 0.9 0.10 etc? reupload pls
Binge watching the entire series. Let me say it is far better than star trek discovery.
Hello. Have you thought about submitting this idea to the CBS Network?
Considering what they did to Picard?? I say HELL NO
Awesome
Sorry to ask but where is 1.06 to 1.10. Censure of Google pawned RUclips?
Only 5 episodes of the 1st season were made.
Super fluffy zone
Didn’t know Micheal Myers’s was in Star Trek
You need Mr. Steven Spielberg.

... at least insofar as they were both overwhelmingly powerful.
First the accent and the demeanor, now the Section 31 involvement, what's gonna be next? Was he also genetically enhanced at a young age?
why do they dont upload in 1080p.. the poor quality makes you don't want to watch. other then that nice show.
1080p wasnt around then and the camera used was old school
Ah... well, sure, it isn't only about fighting battles. But, there have been a lot of episodes about fighting and war. I recall that the the last two years of DS9 were about the Dominion War.
I know no one is going to read this after so long, but does this not remind you voyager. When 7 of 9 made up that conspiracy about section 31

How the actual fuck did "gay" even come in to this ?
