I *CANNOT* stop saying the line "everyone loves a good elephant"
Literally no one has been able to prove me wrong, is the best part
I sure do love a good elephant
The elephant man’s mother
Even if you don’t like elephants, you can’t really say you don’t like a good elephant
@smlaerv One can love good and bad elephants.
@smlaerv why do good girls like bad elephants 😔😔
Maybe elephants aren't afraid of rats specifically but are scared of hyraxes because they know in another timeline they could've been them
?????
@@axelnavarro7617 yes
kinda like racists.
the fear a human has when they see horror creatures with misshapen features and disproportionate limbs, or as I call it, the Slenderman Factor
But hyraxes are cool too
I get a strong feeling that hyrax are going to be the next intelligent species, they will do battle with the intelligent octopuses
Don't forget the racoons and the mighty sea otters
@@NichtNameee But they all where in the End not Smart Enough to look out in the Sky fore the Air-Force of the intelligent Ravens.
So inkling vs ratmen
when the humans goes extint.. maybe small animals would be the new kings... and develop in meat eaters and grass eaters ... imagine a carnivorous elephant ;o

Are you all ok
It becomes easier to imagine Elephants and Hyrax's relationship once you realize an elephants trunk is not much of a nose, but rather the upper lip.
that makes way too much sense holy shit
Your lip has holes in it?
Don’t they smell with the trunk?
I think it’s both

Hahahha they're both mammals doesn't mean they're the same species hahahaha

@UCmnagJPJCiawsqB_uQ_hCnQ elephants are reptiles you moron lol
@@naegimakato460 no they are amphibians dumbass
Clearly you guys have no idea what you’re all talking about.
Elephants are clearly aliens
In South Africa they are commonly known as a Dassie. Dassies ( plural).
Regards from South Africa.
funny name hehehe ☺️ i love south africa!
Yeah, as a South African I was confused with the Hyrax name
I'm from Oudtshoorn and have never seen one, but I've seen giraffes (at the knysya park) :)
-In Portuguese they are named Pica(s)
-It's also the name we call the Pike (weapon)
-It also means penis
Pica is a versatile word
@@riograndedosulball248 I think Picas are a similar-looking but unrelated animals. They are closely related to rabbits and hares, and they are no Afrotheres.
It's REALLY important to distinguish 'closest relative' from 'closest LIVING relative'
Hyraxes are not related to elephants and manatees genetically, those are just freak theories and hypotheses.
I find the fact that their calls have FRICKEN SYNTAX extremely impressive
What does that mean exactly? Or sound like 😊
@@GeekFreeekbasically they can make their own sentences
I love how well Prairie Dogs and Hyrax behaviour match up despite their many differences and distance apart.
So now I have to internally debate who is cooler, squirrels or elephants...
Elephants. You can't have War squirrels.
@@kabir3510 You say that but have you ever air dropped rabid squirrels on the enemy? Pure mayham.
@@ZackeTheBrute but what about an airdropped rabid elephant?
elephants are cooler.. and I'm a huge fan of squirrels... but, baby elephants especially, the intelligence, cuteness, and joy, just can't get over that Also, if you remove the females from a group of elephants chaos and anger issues ensues, so the fact that they are a matriarchy in which the overall group will suffer without the female role yeah can't say that isn't fascinating to me being a female myself :)
Hyraxes are not related to elephants and manatees genetically, those are just freak theories and hypotheses.
We are a little mislead by the overwhelming dominance of rodents in the "small furry omnivore" niche, but we see over and over in evolution that most animals can trace their origins to a rodent like animal, even humans can. Probably it's because these kinds of creatures best survived the extinction of the dinosaurs, but also because it's a viable strategy.
@@ohboy1113 I am a master's student in evolution, and actually the fact that hyrax are related to elephants is like one really easy thing to explain, there is no such thing as "not being able to explain that relation". We have a precise idea of when was living their closest common ancestor, how did it look, and what mutations came to make the mammals we know nowadays.
@@M_Julian_TSP Okay, I will delete the comment. I know I should research this in my own because the answers are out there, but can you explain how wings would have evolved?
@@ohboy1113 No problem you could’ve let your comment.
So about wings, «how» is a difficult question. First, I don’t really know what kind of wings you are talking about, as this flying appendage has occured through evolution many separates times (that’s what we call a convergent evolution). Also I don’t know if you want me to say when the appeared, on which species… Anyway it appeared on a theropod dinausor that is an ancestor of all current birds. It also appeared on the common ancestor of pterosaurs even if they all died out 70 milion years ago. The last known clade that got wins from evolution is bats.
I’m not talking about things like insect wings etc because of how different they are physiologically
@@M_Julian_TSP I guess feathered animals are what I’m asking about. What environment would allow a species with small wings to survive better than a species with no wings?
@Oh Boy Arboreal! Think flying squirrels or sugar gliders, creatures that can't fly but glide from tree to tree. The same concept exist for birds, we believe they initially started out using there wings to glide and eventually evolve to fly.
Honestly I just discovered this channel today and I'm loving it

The map is false and inaccurate, in its locations, Spatial directions/coordinates, sizes and distances.
The no nonsense delivery, quirky animals and background music make for an informative yet hilarious video
Hyraxes are not related to elephants and manatees genetically, those are just freak theories and hypotheses.
And lo, God so loved the hyrax that He specifically ordered the Israelites not to eat it
Wait, is that true? I don't remember that.
@@GuyNamedSean Yeah, because they were only allowed to eat animals that chewed the cud and had a cloven hoof, and the hyrax is noted specifically as not being cloven-hooved
@@GuyNamedSean Depending on the translation and version of the bible you were reading, it may have been incorrectly translated as rabbit or hare instead of hyrax.
This god guy seems like he apreciates a good animal.

The low quality elephant jpeg slaughters me
This just blew my mind and solves the mystery of why there were weird looking prairie dogs next to elephants at my local zoo. I never understood why beyond them both being from Africa. Thanks for clearing that mystery up!
Seeing the elephant's face made me see how it is kind of rodent like.
Rotund yes rodent no? ?
What a funky fella
I approve of their existence
They’d exist regardless
They don’t need your approval

It is kinda weird to think that all the diverse mammals alive today can be traced back to some small, probably rodent looking, thing like these guys. Crazy.
@@taylorhillard4868 I think it's cool that you can take it even farther and trace down your origins to absolute pure energy (moments after the big bang).

I had never heard of the hyrax until just now and omg it’s my new favorite animal 😭 I’m going to be telling everyone about these intelligent little guys
look up "small hyrax screaming"
This was cool to see, ive always thought of “Dassies”(hyraxes in south africa) as just big tock dwelling rats but this video has made them 10 times more interesting
can u tame them??? xdxd

Interesting choice of Night on Bald Mountain for music .
The bald mountain in question is the elephant
Thank you for introducing us to the Hyrax. Next, you should make a video about his orange american cousin, the Lorax. I think it would go down well...

Man, they must have some awkward Thanksgivings and family reunions.
From what I remember, Sirenians are slightly closer related.
The prairy dog also has syntaxes and different chirps for woves , dogs, foxes, hawks, different colors etc... like the scientists discovered they had a unique chirps for the gender of the scientist as well as the color sweaters the wore. Very very complex
