I do realise that there may be an element of shared fault in some of these clips. This is just to show what you have to look out for in London.
Much like the legend at the beginning of the video said. It’s not about who’s right/ wrong.
You're allowed in most bus lanes in the UK on a motorcycle
Filtering is legal in the UK.
Majority of these clips were filmed pre 20mph London life.

Shot on a closed private road, Additional vehicles are stunt actors.
The guy who asks if it's safe for you to drive around on your bike sums it up perfectly. Everyone, not just motorists but pedestrians as well, needs to pay so much attention because all it takes is one momentarily lapse of concentration. Especially with regards to motorcyclists and pedestrians as they don't have the luxury of being in a vehicle that will crumple around you to protect the driver.
Harvey I love the channel mate, but I do sometimes think you need to be a little more understanding of cars on the road when they are coming out of side roads as I drive in central and know the struggles when in a car and pulling out of a side road with large amounts of traffic and bikes going past ect…
No excuse for the idiots just pulling out In front of you though!
Bro is racing around looking for problems
Absolutely. Slow down = less surprises and less stress
As a biker, many of those close calls could have been avoided. You take unnecessary risks, like that one point riding at 40 which gives you no margin for error. You act surprised when people are trying to cross on foot between non moving cars. Of course they will. As for the cars, as a car driver you need to be assertive and ease out or you’ll be stuck at the junction forever. Please be careful.
Fellow biker here🏍😊
You often demonstrate awareness, quick reaction skills & an ability to process & proritise & deal with multiple hazards.
However.....
Progress greater than surrounding traffic flow increases collision risk.
Little value if other(s) at fault & you end up with a damaged bike, injury (or worse), to yourself or other(s).
Some have a preference to briskly dodge around others albeit motorcycling is not a video game...Certain games can result in unwanted prizes😉
At times, some may see your riding as risky, irresponsible, passive aggresive or worse.
Legal consequences can also factor..(speed, red lights etc).
Confidence can help but over confidence can hinder.
Appropriate restraint can save us...even when others part or wholly at fault. Sometimes it can be best to yield (even if others at fault).
Aware of your somewhat whimsical online riding persona & fanbase.....I enjoy humour, biker banter & riding fun...but also looking out for you, (& others).
Not expecting you to sign up for BikeSafe (worthwhile), or Advanced Training immediately but hope this causes positive reflection.
Ride Safe 👍🏍
Hi! Really appreciate the feedback.
@@HarveyRidesBikes
Cheers Harvey,
Glad you took it as intended.
Definitely not a keyboard warrior here.
By all means keep delete my remarks as now seen....as posted for you , (not my ego) 😅
But don't dismiss Bike Safe😄. It was free of charge in London....I believe cops like sweets too 😉
👋👍🏍
@HarveyRidesBikes so how much did ya say "what" or something like that?😂
"This is the worst turning", but still approaches at speed 8:37
@@icedbannanas I think it looks like he’s going at speed because of the FOV when he’s going much slower
43 in a 30! Not really helping yourself are you?
Unbelievable how some pedestrians manage to stay alive, and how some people manage to keep their licences! Love the passive aggressive commentary and engine blips 😅 Stay safe
Obviously never riding in London. If you don't pull out you will neve be let in. Just a fact of trying to get around London.
Big fan Harvey, but I’m not sure this is showing you in the best light. As a very bike aware driver, some of your filtering would alarm me and you are a little speedy in some points. You make great videos but please be safe.
None of the issues he came across were his fault and he dealt with them very calm and not dangerously at all, well done, enjoy the vids too dude 🤙
I completely agree. While the rider cannot be responsible for the actions of other road users, the complete lack of any anticipation or ability to read the road turns what should be a non-event into a near miss. Slow down, learn to read the traffic better, and anticipate what might happen.
It's legal there though?
Edit: ok this makes me sound like an idiot. For the record, I completely agree. People in general need to be more aware of each other.
It would be better if more people were able to cycle or take transit, then they could stop doing something they obviously hate.
@appletree13 it is legal here, that's correct. That said, this is not a good example of filtering safely.
@@bms2250 Agreed. Like I said, my comment makes me sound like an idiot 😅
LOL @ 6:18 - almost multiple carnage there.
Love your sense of humour. My blood pressure was considerably raised just watching this!
Lmao they all froze most funniest thing
Ive only got a little 125 cc but one thing ive noticed is the biking community is actually a brotherhood. Ive never experienced anything like it . Respect to all bikers out there and ride safe 👍
Love your personality, but you need to work on your riding bud. 2:07 they were clearly going to do that, but you closed the gap before having to hang back 2:39 you ran a red, 2:37 an example that you don't do enough shoulder checks. 5:20 Why are you entering the box junction it's blocked? 5:31 saw that a mile off again why are you entering the box junction without a clear exit?
My instructor gave me two bits of advice similar to the bloke at the start "You can be right and dead right" and "Ride like everyone's out to kill you" You're tempting that second one a fair bit mate. They'll bump you off and the first thing you'll hear is "you came out of no-where". Your an awesome ambassador for positive riding don't give em any ammo.
Some of these close calls were caused by you. Can't tell me you are riding in a 20mile zone and doing about 40. You are also looking for problems. 🙄
Shuddup
This comment alone proves you’ve never ridden a bike
Most of this could be avoided if you stuck to the speed limit. The 12 inner London boroughs and City of London are 20mph default, maybe this is outer London but still -
First clip starts at 44mph
2:15 you accelerate to 39mph past parents walking their children to school
7:34 filtering past stationary traffic at 29mph
I can't tell on the analogue cluster but it looks like in the last clip of the overtake you're doing 40mph in a 20 (4 notches = 40mph maybe and the 20mph markings are on the road.
You're going to hurt someone.
I started riding when I was fifteen in Johannesburg, (no it wasn't legal when I started), and commuted into the city for many years. Jo'burg was a very busy city and the traffic was hectic with major multi laned roads feeding the city centre. My route was the locally infamous Booysen's rd. The only accidents I've had, I'm in my sixties now, was filtering in the rush hours(s) traffic. All the accidents involved knocking down jaywalking pedestrians. I even got to the stage where I started putting little black x's on my TS400 stroker's tank for every pedestrian skittled; there were a few. I gave the hobby up after the last one because I hurt myself too much. It's a dangerous game. Nice video.
Exhaust on the Triumph sounds boss!
some of those close calls gave me a heart attack, stay safe out there everyone, the way people drive scares me sometimes😭
I mean, you know if you hit a pedestrian who is crossing in traffic it will be your fault, right?
I think it depends on the circumstances. I’ve been filtering before and someone sprinted across 4 lanes (2 each way) to catch a bus. Ran straight into the side of the bike. They were knocked out. Police said it was their fault.
7:35 Yes. She took a step forward and looked, then stepped back. The queue is solid for a long way so she is going to have to cross between cars and it is a crossing point for pedestrians which means you should be slowing down for potential hazards at that point. I would argue you are entirely in the wrong here.
I commend you for not uttering one expletive. As an ex-Londoner I recognise a lot of the driving and walking habits. Bloody love your videos, keep them coming Harvey.
Will do Debbie! Thanks for the kind words
Not a motorbike rider, but having driven & cycled in Streatham for years some of these clips are far too relatable! Such a stressful area for being on the road as it appears so many people forget how to drive. Just found your channel, great content, keep it up :)
6:15 the pedestrians have priority, as of the highway code changes from a couple of years ago.
i think you’ve got to understand how “invisible” motorcyclists are to other pedestrians and road users when you are lanesplitting, so you should definitely slow down and ride at a speed where you can safely stop if there was something to pop up while lanesplitting, gives more time for other people to realize you are there as well compared to if you’re going too fast
remarkable. 3 am, I can't stop watching
Good luck mate
Just curious if pedestrians have the instinct of self-preservation:)?
Wow! That makes my palms sweaty, some of those close calls! Your bonneville is louder than the newer loaner from triumph in a good way to hear you coming…
Love the videos! Keep em coming!
Love you, kisses!
Thanks so much! Will do
I can't get over the sound of that Bonne
i always say “dont.” moment i see someone about to pull out infront of me. glad im not the only one.
Which lane are you in? Proceeds to ride in a bicycle lane…
Ive never been so anxious watching a video 😅
Hello! Would it be okay to use it in compilations and maybe on some of ours Social Networks? You will get full credit for it. Thanks
Of course! If you use on insta/ TT please @/ tag etc.
@@HarveyRidesBikes Thanks a lot :)
my palms are sweating just from watching this.
Crazy how city centre are so densely packed with motor vehicles. Pedestrians are like island hoppers having to cross the foaming river rapids 🌊 Poor guys. Luckily you're one motorist paying attention.
Riding in Malta and Sicily for 8 years and being a bit older (45) chills you alot. Now I'm in Netherlands and how some crazy cyclists to contend with. My comments should be considered as constructive:
If you're riding near standing traffic absolutely always expect pedestrians to be walking through, always. What I find is if you ride slower in when filtering or besides standing traffic 2 things happen:
1) Less surprises
2) Less stress
Bonus
3) Expect to let other vehicles enter the slow moving traffic,, less surprises less stress
If you're gonna be constantly surprised then you could be part of the problem. Berating myself and marking myself as the problem of tricky situations has helped me save myself many times for future similar situations.
For me the most scariest thing in the traffic is pedestrians jumping to road between cars
That triumph twin sound! That’s the good stuff!
Love your videos..giving everyone an insight into a bikers mind, chatting away, singing and talking to people who scare the be-jesus out of you when they step out. Keep doing it it's ace. I'm down in darkest Somerset so get cattle rather than people, slightly different vibe.
Wow you keep so calm
Don’t miss that at all.
Now living in Perth Australia
Stressed me out just watching this , have to have eyes everywhere , crazy , you kept your calm though if that was me I’d have no voice after shouting to everyone! 😂
Do motorcyclists have a different regulation with respect to speed limits? Seems like every time you have a near miss it's because you're way over the speed limit mate.
Speeding and red light running. I think someone needs to go back to riding school.
This is a true representation of what it is like riding a motorbike
Loud exhaust is a must in London - got to be heard and seen
5:47 you are in the wrong here
That blipping throttle sound on the bobber never gets old.😁
Looks like you are trying to get in a crash.
I commute daily to work in London and still this video stresses me out - by though way you’re still the nicest/calmest rider in London! I would go ballistic in each clip - I should really learn from you!
Can't really complain about other road users when you run red lights 2:41
Im so glad your page entered my algo harvey. Safe travels. Your a shinning light on UK youtube. You should collab with charlie vieche one day and take the scenes in around his area
Your vids make me miss riding a bike and also not miss riding a bike in London.
The Bonneville sounds mint!
Key word as a motorcyclist...Restraint
I'm always amazed when I ride in London how many pedestrians are so happy to risk their lives crossing at insanely dangerous points in the road just to save a minute or two. Bet your bottom dollar tho that when ever any of them get hit they will always blame the biker.
It's because UK unlike other countires allows pedestrian priority and do not require them to use zebra crossings. In a normal country pedestrian is eligible for a fine if crossing the road, but the pedestrian crossing is visible. In UK pedestrian is always right, that's the issue.
@@PovilasPanavasplus reducing speed limits from 30 to 20 encourages pedestrians to walk out without looking properly, not to mention those who cross while looking at their phone. I wouldn’t filter at these speeds though. Even on a bicycle I had a near miss with a pedestrian who crossed in front of a bus while I was in the cycle lane. If the motorcyclist hits a pedestrian all the onlookers are going to side with the pedestrian no matter what as pedestrians can do no wrong. I learned a lesson many years ago while riding a motorbike in traffic. An old guy pulled straight out in front of me and I tried to overtake him rather than slam on the brakes. It nearly worked but the 100cc bike just didn’t have enough power, I managed to avoid hitting anything but ended up on the footpath on the opposite side of the road as I swerved to avoid an oncoming car. The old guy who caused it all was long gone at this stage. And what did the onlookers say to me “You were flying!” which was nonsense as I was going the same speed as the cars.
Love your IG content. Looking forward to the YT stuff!
I admire your patience... and the ability to not curse at all of these people haha
I don't ride motorbikes, but your videos do make me more mindful of being a pedestrian in London, and also mindful of filtering bikers.
Ah it’s super cool that people watch that aren’t necessarily interested in bikes. That’s the goal!
As a Japanese, I was surprised at the number of people who did not cross the street at crosswalks. I was also surprised at the motorcycles that did not slow down even in the presence of pedestrians. But it is a good thing that bicycles are not on the sidewalks like in Japan.
scary to watch... it's good that others can't see what's happening in traffic. Be careful.❤
I’ve only ridden just over a year but was taught to never overtake on the inside. Also some of the cars pulling out of side roads could be seen from a ways back. Some 100% are the cars faults but others are questionable
1:35... THAT. Was amazing.
2:28 isn't this reasonable since the car infront is clearly turning left?
Interesting.. Seems like my everyday occurrences when im on my bike 😂 Just because every one else is on the road, doesn’t mean they have roadcraft.. or insurance 😂 You handle it alot calmer than I do! Stay safe bro
I'm just impressed that you are using a rocket in London. Bikes bigger than half the cars
I'm a bus driver and the number of times in a day that people walk in front of me only to end up in front of a car or a bike is mental!
i want to get a bike too someday. I usually fancy sport bikes and inline 4 and 3 sounds. But this one bike with the v2 just sounds amazing aswell. Makes me want one too
How you've been? I was wondering if it would be ok with you if I share this video for a youtube edit that I'm working on? I'll credit you with watermark on screen. Thank you in advance.
Sure, go for it
Anxiety is through the roof watching this 😅
I see a lot of this in Croydon 😆... Croydon driving is bombastic and not so fantastic when your a biker know that first hand 😅 can't say I stay as light as you though Harvey 👏
Those lights on the south side of Vauxhall bridge can be sketchy af
london trafic is so crap.
Wow so many close calls,I’m sorry but I could never drive in London it looks too stressful I applaud you for doing it 😳 I thought Sheffield was bad 🤣 that guy on the bike what ran a red light he was like bloody lightning!! 🤣❤️
This video makes me laugh so hard who agrees
Got my first bike a few weeks back, as a Londoner myself, to and from work is proper stress ffs
Perhaps try not speeding as much?
You should get a Denali Soundbomb fitted to your bike. You’d leave a few of those pedestrians with brown pants for sure! 😂
Brighton drivers as well.....jeez.....keep safe bro! Big Love
I wish I was so cool when I ride/drive. I'm usually like this red little fella "Anger" from the "Inside Out" animated movie.
wait a sec... 3:18 that's Brighton Road, in Purley
love the banter. but i hope you learn from some of your mistakes. drive safe and easy mate. you're a good content creator. don't turn into a ball or grease trying to overspeed.

Yeah go for it! Thanks
As a frequent commuter - I attest to all the experiences demonstrated! Its like you have to be born with 4 eyes to be able to ride. I try to be as mindful as possible for fellow cyclists and pedestrians but believe me they love testing my patience, I am not shy to admit I test peoples patience as well. Streatham, Brixton and City of London borough have been by far the most notorious. City of London mainly for the entitled cyclists who think the entire road belongs to them, I do give props to cyclists with effective communication of what they intend to do but in my experience most of them require a road safety awareness course. Also just to be a bit cynical I abhor 20mph roads!
The moped running red light like the harry potter’s knightbus 1:33
Keep speeding into hazards 💀
What action cam are you using for your helmet view? I'm trying to fine one that has a wide enough field of view to capture the bar ends on my bike ....
This changes with each clip as it was filmed over 5 months or so. The widest angle (the near miss with my brother) it’s a go pro 12 with a max lense 2.0
One word: Terrifying 😲
I wonder how you’re getting that much clarity at night with the go pro?
How many accidents have you had since you started riding your motorbike through London? Thanks for the entertaining video 👍✌️

pedestrian ran into the side of the bike. She ran between cars across 4 lanes of traffic.
One driver changing lanes into me not looking.
Others were cars turning across me from the other side road.
Insurance/police all deemed them as not my fault :/
@@HarveyRidesBikes thanks ;)
I'm having a nervus breakdown just watching this video, nevermind actually driving my bike in London lol
This video should be called "WHAT?" These people are mental lol!
Which lane, we are in the lane of life 😜👍 looks like some pedestrians are taking too many chances today 😮 harvey you have more fun throwing harobo at people 😅
Should have merch that says what are you up to
Love the vids but defensive driving applies to motorbikes too. You speed through a bunch of stopped cars and are surprised that you're met with a near miss. If everyone around you is slowing down - there's a reason

Hello, Rider! Hope you're doing great! :)
Love this clip! Would it be OK if we used it in a youtube video we're making and maybe share it on our social media? We'll credit you in the video and all descriptions. Thank you! :)
I'm completely bewildered by the lane markings I see in videos from the UK. I have no idea when it's a one-way or if it's two-way traffic. In the US, we use yellow lines to define two-way lanes and white to divide lanes that travel in the same direction. Every time I think it's just the opposite of that system in the UK I'm confused further, because what I see in videos doesn't hold up to that as a system. How do you know which lanes go in which direction?
There'll be signs on the side of the road that tell you, and sometimes big arrows painted on the road itself, but they usually only appear when theres a change like separate lanes coming together, of if the number of lanes is changing. Always a yellow line to seperate opposing traffic sounds like a good idea to always know. I was caught out once pulling out onto a 2 lane road which across an area of grass there was another 2 lane road, so I assumed it was 2 in each direction with a widish grass divider like you get all over the place, I pulled out after a car went passed and moved over to the second lane to then go past it when up ahead I saw a car coming towards me.. A good few hundred meters up the road so wasnt anywhere near a close call and I moved back over, but a yellow divider line would mean that situation never happens
2:54 what a bike that other guy has!
0:28 which lane are you in?
