- This now abandoned baptist church dates back to 1901
Prior to 1901, the local congregation used an old log structure as their meeting place for worship. In the early 1800’s several families immigrated from Scotland, setting sail across the ocean, then travelling from their arrival point in Nova Scotia, through Quebec and then the traveled via a Lake Schooner to the shores of what would eventually be South West Ontario.
I’ve been unable to determine when the church was closed for good, given the conditions inside - I don’t think there is a very bright future for this old abandoned baptist church

What's the name of the church and town?
What a beautiful church. Thanks Dave. I know you’re not a “church goer”, but if you get the chance, stop in a Christmas Eve service after dark. Just mesmerizing. The dim light,stained glass etc. For a photographer, I really think you’d love it. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
You’re absolutely right. The beauty and reverence during a Christmas Eve night service is something to behold.
You said the congregation met someplace else before 1901. Just shows how people improved in the U.S. on building things by the 1900's. I think before that, it was a very poor country with only modest houses. It took men a while to get really good and creative with their building.

Great video! I love this church. It's sad to see no one is using it for anything because it looks to be in great shape. I love those pews. I have never seen curved wooden pews before. This place has gorgeous light and I love the simplicity of the place not being covered in religious art. I'd love to hear someone sing "Amazing Grace" a capella in there. It would make a cool coffee house or small concert venue. I love seeing the close up of the Bible on the podium too. Thanks for sharing this place with us.

Sanctuary is what describes the pews. This type of church layout and construction, is the churches that I am most familiar in that these are the churches I grew up with. It was a very common Construction for most churches of the day. Generally it describes a Vintage from 1920 to 1980.

I don’t think you will EVER find Bibles piled up in that condition. These are just hymnals which are beautiful in their own right because of the music and lyrics between their pages.

It awful to see such a beautiful old building left to rot away. It could be fixed for homeless.

Wow!!! What a beautiful church sans the bird poop, grass and cobwebs🤨. However, the doors, woodwork, stained glass windows, lighting and at one time, the pews, are amazing! Those light fixtures though...gorgeous! The pews form what is called harmony of line. That particular pew arrangement produces the best sound quality, the best acoustic quality, when hymns are being sung. Most junior and senior high school choir rooms are laid out the same way. The chairs and lecturn in the pulpit are beautiful as well. You can almost hear voices raised singing

they...left...that...Bible.🤯 Good grief. It's been awhile since I last saw a brass collection plate, it's I'm that back room. It takes a true craftsman to create woodwork so beautiful.
I HAVE THAT EXACT SAME CHINA WITH THE ROSES!!! Even the staircase is beautiful. The parsonage should have kept that beautiful church properly maintained. Such a shame. I'd rather attend Sunday service there than in the new church that was built elsewhere to replace it. That old church was built far, far better than the new one. They always are. I love old churches if anyone ever bought it they would have to hire a cleaning company for sure.

those weren't shoes those were rain covers for leather dress/church shoes. my father had a pair. they slipped over your dress shoes and enabled u to walk thru rain or shoe without getting your shoes and feet wet. love the red velvet chair. too bad this church has been left to rot I am looking to buy just such a building to renovate as my new home. this one would be perfect.

Im not into religion but man it makes me sad when places of worship get abandoned like this. They need to be treated with more respect. Its in very good condition considering the age. Why was the church abandon. The church may have been redone inside the sanctuary for acoustical purpose's

Those shoes were made to fit, over women dress shoe to keep them dry and clean during a snow or rain storm.
Try adjust your voice accordingly to what filming. For a church maybe softer voice. Put a little mystery in it. Sounded like a commercial. You could of done alot more with that video. Just some ideas.
