Henk Poort was the Phantom of the Opera in the Netherlands and Floor, as teenager was crazy about him. That makes it even more special. Andrew Loyd Webber even said Henk was his favorite Phantom. He is also a member of the three Baritones. Very famous in Europe. Greets from Holland
I'm glad you decided to do this reaction, to come back to Floor / Nightwish. I understand that your main interest is theatricality, artistic performance (and less music) - I personally have no problem with that. But here is a beautiful story that came to light in this TV show, Beste Zangers, in which both Floor and Henk participated, a story that I think is worth exploring. Namely, Floor has been an admirer of Henk since she was a teenager and saw him on stage, Henk being a well-known baritone in the Netherlands. So she asked him to perform this song together in the last evening dedicated to duets, and he agreed, but he asked to be invited on stage with Nightwish when they'll perform in Netherlands (which has not yet materialized, due to the cancellation of shows in recent years). Their collaboration continued, with Henk being invited to Floor's solo show series in the Netherlands (and Floor was invited to Henk's show too). It *has* materialized now. In their most recent concerts in Amsterdam, Nightwish brought back The Phantom onto the set list for the first time in 17 years, with Henk Poort (sporting a Nightwish T-shirt) as a special guest. They finally made good on that promise.
Floor has said herself that she was fangirling through the performance as she was a huge fan of Henk and Phantom of the Opera growing up. It would explain why she seemed so happy through the performance. Also, she and Henk went on to become great friends and collaborators on other projects and he even did a guest performance on a couple of her live shows in the Netherlands.
Floor said on Dutch TV that she thought this performance was magical. "It only happens a few times per lifetime" is what she said about it. A bit of background, Floor was as a child a big, big fan of Henk Poort and she only agreed to do the 8 shows on Dutch TV because Henk Poort was in it. So, to do this duet with him was "a highpoint in my career" as she put it herself. She adores Henk Poort and after this show, it is also both ways (before Henk as an opera/musical theater singer never heard of Floor, she was not really well known here in NL because metal is not popular).
She knocked you off your chair. Don't feel bad. You aren't the first!!! So amazing. The whole cast from this show are phenomenal. The band and the backup singers are terrific. I have had so much fun watching every episode...again and again. The duets are as good as the solos. Like Wacken 2013, I will be watching this forever.
Yeah, the show is endearing and captivating. Other seasons are good too. The 2021 season had Anneke van Giersbergen in it, the first female to front a metal band and who was the inspiration for Floor to go metal

You should check out phantom of the opera by nightwish. The original singer does an amazing job of it. Mind you I don’t think anyone can beat Floor but still. Incidentally Floor is 6 feet tall.
While Tarja was amazing there, Marco stole the show. I want to see the full thing with Marco as the phantom, he really put a different feel onto it that imo suits the character perfectly

I just realised, why did they flip the lines "I am the mask you wear" and "it's me they'll hear"? They're normally sung by Christine, then the Phantom, but here Henk steals the first line and Floor sings "it's me they'll hear". I'm confused. They both obviously know the lyrics so there must be a reason for it.
If you want to react to an amazing pure opera session, check “Oh mio babbino caro” from Puccini, performed by her…Her versatility is unique, there are not so many singers in this world that have the ridiculously humongous vocal resources she has… maybe not the best operatic singer, maybe not the best belter (arguably), definitely not the best growler, but dude, she can bring all of these together!!
That 'step-wise slide' thing that Floor does at various points is called a Glissando. It's an operatic technique (which I only know about by watching vocal coaches analyze her singing)

henk port was always floors idol. i think it was her dream of a lifetime to sing the phantom with the phantom who played it originally in the netherlands.
The distortion from henk is a no go for a barrionet. But in floors show evening where everybody sings for floor. He did it with the sound of silence by disturbed. He practiced it for tho'se 2 songs. And did such a amazing job. Floor did winner by Tim akkerman. And it is such an amazing song
First of, as just a small tip, you might want to check the spelling in your video title (it's Jansen, not Jensen), that way the video actually pops up when searching for her ;) If you like, you might also want to check out the Nightwish version of Phantom with Marko (bassist) & Tarja (their first singer). It's great as well, though I do prefer the more theatrical approach of Henk & Floor. Floor and Henk also did a cover of "Dangerous Game" from the musical Jekyll & Hyde. They performed it live during Floor's solo concert in Amsterdam last year (they also did a "studio" version, but since they live in two different countries, they had to film it separately). From the same solo show, there is also "Face your Demons", which leans towards a more theatrical performance (not in sound, but in acting) as well. Same goes for "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" from Nightwish live in Buenos Aires 2018 (it's metal and completely different from what you heard of Nightwish so far, but has great theatrics in the performance and interaction between Floor & Marko).
in the show beste zangers, they called henk poort ''Uncle Henk'' because he is like the sweet funny uncle at parties. and he is way older then all of the other people there. but when he starts singing, he always sounds so professional and serious. Its amazing because the moment he stops singing he laughs at the people on the couches and he starts cracking jokes again.

This whole show was a masterpiece for her. I watch them over and over. They’re all worth watching just so you know. There are two people on here denicee and jenniezelf who have all the conversations that take place before the songs that tell you why they picked the songs for each artist and it’s so much better to hear all that too. It’s it Dutch so turn on the cc. I literally cry every time I watch them. You want to talk about her fully committing mind body and soul, go watch those. She brings everyone on those couches to tears, and when they’re not crying they’re all sitting with their mouths hanging open 😂😂 She’s a very special human. So kind and humble, and sickly talented. I love nightwish to death, but there’s just something special about that show. 🤘🤘 I watch this twice every time because once is just never enough lol

You will probably not read this anymore sir, but first of all I hope you and your family are doing fine. What a terrible thing, a fire in the house. I feel so sorry for all of you. Floor is just the best singer there is at the moment. She can do it all. It is not because I am Dutch and Patriotic, she can do things with her voice I never heard before. How easily she switches in 1 line from opera, light head voice, mixed and belt is unbelievable. Floor is a Godess for sure, but when she is off stage, she is actually very shy and humble. She lives remote in nature with her Swedish husband (drummer of Sabaton) and their little daughter Freya. This Dutch show is really great and even has subs in Nelish, because people all over the world watch this show. It is a setting of 6 singers with their own genre. every episode one singer is in the spotlight and the other singers, sing a song of her or him. It is like a contest, but not really. It is about embrasing music, vocals and being supportive to eachother. The show is called "Beste zangers" (Best singers) and in 2019 Floor was one of the guest, with Henk Poort, who was THE phantom of the opera, and even Andrew Loyd Webber's favorite Phantom. He is much older now but still has a great voice. Floor challanged him to sing with a distortion in his voice and if he did, he could be on stage with Nightwish (what still needs to happen, Covid and stuff) Floor ave a solo concert in Amsterdam and Henk was the steady guest in her show. As a teenager Floor was crazy about Henk Poort, he was her idol. Just somebackground about this show and the setting :) Again, I really hope you are all doin fine again. Love from Holland

As you're into this you really need to check Phantom of the Opera from Nightwish End of an Era concert. It's performed by Tarja Turunen and Marko Hietala and it's different but at least as awesome.
Second time Henk use distortion in his live, distortion is a big no no in opera/musical...first time Henk use distortion was in the same show with the Sound of Silence.

Floor did this song with Henk Poort and Nightwish recently in the Netherlands. She sang the last part higher and the final note was even a lot longer. Too bad the quality of the recordings isn’t a superb as the live singing. 😊

I've seen Henk perform the phantom when I was 10 and it blew my mind, I saw him in 2020 in theater with his own show and his voice is sooo powerful. You feel the air vibrate when he sings 💜 if you like to see floor 'perform' more... Devil and the deep dark ocean is a great theatrical performance, story telling by the basist Marko and Floor. You should check out phantom of the opera by nightwish. The original singer does an amazing job of it. Mind you I don’t think anyone can beat Floor but still. Incidentally Floor is 6 feet tall.
While Tarja was amazing there, Marco stole the show. I want to see the full thing with Marco as the phantom, he really put a different feel onto it that imo suits the character perfectly

I just realised, why did they flip the lines "I am the mask you wear" and "it's me they'll hear"? They're normally sung by Christine, then the Phantom, but here Henk steals the first line and Floor sings "it's me they'll hear". I'm confused. They both obviously know the lyrics so there must be a reason for it.
If you want to react to an amazing pure opera session, check “Oh mio babbino caro” from Puccini, performed by her…Her versatility is unique, there are not so many singers in this world that have the ridiculously humongous vocal resources she has… maybe not the best operatic singer, maybe not the best belter (arguably), definitely not the best growler, but dude, she can bring all of these together!!

That 'step-wise slide' thing that Floor does at various points is called a Glissando. It's an operatic technique (which I only know about by watching vocal coaches analyze her singing)

The distortion from henk is a no go for a barrionet. But in floors show evening where everybody sings for floor. He did it with the sound of silence by disturbed. He practiced it for tho'se 2 songs. And did such a amazing job.

If you like, you might also want to check out the Nightwish version of Phantom with Marko (bassist) & Tarja (their first singer). It's great as well, though I do prefer the more theatrical approach of Henk & Floor.
Floor and Henk also did a cover of "Dangerous Game" from the musical Jekyll & Hyde. They performed it live during Floor's solo concert in Amsterdam last year (they also did a "studio" version, but since they live in two different countries, they had to film it separately). From the same solo show, there is also "Face your Demons", which leans towards a more theatrical performance (not in sound, but in acting) as well. Same goes for "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" from Nightwish live in Buenos Aires 2018 (it's metal and completely different from what you heard of Nightwish so far, but has great theatrics in the performance and interaction between Floor & Marko).
in the show beste zangers, they called henk poort ''Uncle Henk'' because he is like the sweet funny uncle at parties. and he is way older then all of the other people there. but when he starts singing, he always sounds so professional and serious. Its amazing because the moment he stops singing he laughs at the people on the couches and he starts cracking jokes again.

This whole show was a masterpiece for her. I watch them over and over. They’re all worth watching just so you know. There are two people on here denicee and jenniezelf who have all the conversations that take place before the songs that tell you why they picked the songs for each artist and it’s so much better to hear all that too. It’s it Dutch so turn on the cc. I literally cry every time I watch them. You want to talk about her fully committing mind body and soul, go watch those. She brings everyone on those couches to tears, and when they’re not crying they’re all sitting with their mouths hanging open 😂😂 She’s a very special human. So kind and humble, and sickly talented. I love nightwish to death, but there’s just something special about that show. 🤘🤘 I watch this twice every time because once is just never enough lol

Floor is just the best singer there is at the moment. She can do it all. It is not because I am Dutch and Patriotic, she can do things with her voice I never heard before. How easily she switches in 1 line from opera, light head voice, mixed and belt is unbelievable. Floor is a Godess for sure, but when she is off stage, she is actually very shy and humble. She lives remote in nature with her Swedish husband (drummer of Sabaton) and their little daughter Freya.
This Dutch show is really great and even has subs in Nelish, because people all over the world watch this show.
It is a setting of 6 singers with their own genre. every episode one singer is in the spotlight and the other singers, sing a song of her or him. It is like a contest, but not really.
It is about embrasing music, vocals and being supportive to eachother.
The show is called "Beste zangers" (Best singers) and in 2019 Floor was one of the guest, with Henk Poort, who was THE phantom of the opera, and even Andrew Loyd Webber's favorite Phantom. He is much older now but still has a great voice.
Floor challanged him to sing with a distortion in his voice and if he did, he could be on stage with Nightwish (what still needs to happen, Covid and stuff)
Floor ave a solo concert in Amsterdam and Henk was the steady guest in her show.
As a teenager Floor was crazy about Henk Poort, he was her idol.
