A song about recapturing the lost innocence of youth. The songwriter has grown up and yearns for the youthful exuberance of his childhood. You got it my friend. Just ton of fun with Nightwish showing us the way! Loved your dual reaction with Rosalie! 👍👍
Loosing innocence is a recurring theme for Tuomas. (Dead Boys Poem, I want my tears back, Storytime, The Poet and the Pendulum, etc) At least up to The Greatest Show on Earth.
Also check out a program called besta zangers the Dutch program they take seven singers and they take turns singing to each other. Floor does songs on there she sings in English Spanish Dutch German
This is the chorus. Where is the wonder? Where's the awe? Where's dear Alice knocking on the door? Where's the trapdoor that takes me there Where the real is shattered by a Mad Marsh Hare? Where is the wonder? Where's the awe? Where are the sleepless nights I used to live for? Before the years take me I wish to see the lost in me
This is THE version. What an audience the South Americans are! It's about lost childhood and trying to regain the innocence and joy (tears of joy that I want to get back to experiencing) before getting too old for it (before the years take me). This has been a staple, both of the EFMB tour and the Imaginaerum tour (plus 82 times on this Decades tour) - 339 times in all, almost exactly the same as Ghost Love Score (340 times). The corsetry is custom designed (as are all Floor's costumes due to her height) in this case by Royal Black Couture in Austria and is unique; they promised never to reproduce it. They are also one of two costume makers for the current Human Nature tour.
The song is a football chant, with the crowd replacing the name of a favorite football team with "Nightwish" ("Nightwish, we love you.") etc. The look Emppu shoots Floor is because they have this fun little bit they often do during this song where she tries to get him to dance with her and he runs away in "panic". Floor is about 6'4" in heels here, while Emppu is 5'3" :).
Beautiful reaction and interpretation! Floor and Marko sound so incredible together. Marko has a voice for the ages, too, and I’ll miss him going forward.
Great reaction. You were spot on about the song's meaning. It is from the Imaginarium album who's main theme is that of an old composer on his death bed reliving his life. In this one he is lamenting the loss of innocence and passion from his youth when he was able to feel things more deeply, thus his desire to get his"tears back know" before he passes. Got to love the amazing South American fans. They way they were dancing and serenading Floor in the beginning. Now on my bucket list to see Nightwish in Buenos Aires one day.
'Where does she get that energy?' you ask. Now consider that a show or 2 before this, she was sick with the Flu, and still wasn't 100% here. Yes, Floor and Marko sound great together, but did you notice that Troy was doing a 3rd harmony? They are performing this song on the current tour, with Troy singing Marko's part , and no 3rd harmony.
"Where does she get the energy?".... Great question! I think it's safe to say that Floor gets the energy from the crowd. She is a highly sensitive person and has the ability to draw energy from specific settings although when they were touring the US in May, she did admit to "needing" to recharge at some point between NY and California so she took the boys to a National Park where she took some time to connect again with nature and re-energize. Photos are in her RUclips Channel in the community tab. She actually shows this intake of energy at the end of Ghost Love Score during the last chorus. Was it intentional? Who really knows, but it makes all the sense in the world. After her high belt at the end, she even thanks the crowd with a bow and return the unused energy. I may get absolutely smacked for that but ad I said... to me? From that perspective, it makes all the sense in the world! And to be completely honest, I really don't believe Floor will disagree, but that's just me. Thank you for the video, reaction and comments. Stay safe and stay blessed. 😊❤🤘🤘
Now that is a Party !!!! I have seen this song Live and let me tell you, Floor's energy is only growing thru the years !!! The song is a longing to feel emotions as one did when they were young. As we get older, the intensity of those emotions can wane or disappear altogether. In this (Crowd): OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ OLÁ... OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ; CADA DÍA TE QUIERO MÁS...OOOHHH!!! SOY DE NIGHTWISH; ES UN SENTIMIENTO, NO PUEDO PARAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ OLÁ ... OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ; EVERY DAY I LOVE YOU MORE ... OOOHHH !!! I AM FROM NIGHTWISH; IT'S A FEELING, I CAN'T STOP! ) NWSU 🤘😎🤘.
Tuomas - keyboards, and at least 95% composer and lyricist - often referred back to his happy childhood years during difficult periods of his life. You'll find several references in some of his earlier songs to one of his alter egos, Dead Boy.
At 1:37 "Somebody's gotta help me out with what's happening". I would but I can't bcz you're skipping a stellar intro which is an integral part of this song's performance. And that's what we'd like to see: the performance, which is supposed to be your main interest, isn't it? No other reactor that I've seen butchered that lovely moment like you did there, to then ask ppl to help 'em out. Love your NW reactions, especially the one you did with Rosalia the other day but sorry, you're on your own here. Cheers!
I'm so glad I watch this now right AFTER your Dead Boy's Poem reaction, it cheered me back up. To answer your question: "Where does she get this energy?" ... Floor is an HSP (highly sensitive person), which means she absorbs the energies of people around her (both in the good or bad way). So during shows she actually pulls most of her immense energy right from the audience. She even explained this once in an interview. :) To me, being an HSP myself, it's incredibly amazing just to IMAGINE the amount of energy she must have gotten from THIS particular crowd. ♥
"The voice of Mary Costa..." She was the original Sleeping Beauty/Princess Aurora in the Disney animated movie, WAY back in the day (1959), a beautiful singing voice. Tuomas is a HUGE Disney fan. (I had to google her name after hearing this song).
As a classically trained guitarist, my interest lies more in classical music etc, never listened to metal, but Floor and Nightwish I can listen to all day long!👍
I hope Last of the Wilds is on the list. No lyrics, but great to listen to. 👍🏻You were spot on with lyrics and the contrast between them and the energy of the music. Tuomas longing for his boyhood wonder and innocence, ability to easily feel emotion, his tears, before being jaded by adulthood.
Try The Warning. Three sisters from Mexico who rock hard and are really into the lyrics. They write all their own music. Stage presence and music videos are superb.
You are pretty much spot on in your interpretation IMO. The Imaginaerum album tells a story; this is early on, and the song "Turn Loose the Mermaids" acts as a kind of resolution to it. Sadly there don't seem to be any live versions, but listen to it (or maybe watch the lyric video) sometime. Avoid the fan videos first time, they obscure the meaning.
Good job, May I suggest you google the lyrics ahead of each video so when you watch the performance you will already know without having to concentrate on lyrics so much and just enjoy the music and stage show
Subscribed to be part of your further nightwish journey, enjoyed your reactions by now. It‘s only sad I can‘t see all of them, because I haven‘t the money to pay for your Member Channel. Will they be for free one time in the future? Greetings from germany
Actually….. my understanding, she was quite sick before this concert and was on good meds….. may have something to do with the energy!! Also may explain the questionable judgement in challenging the crowd!

Make that "Beste Zangers" (Best Singers) season 19.

Although this outfit Floor is wearing here was copied without permission to the second ”Coming to America” movie.

Floor's bootheels put her up to around 6-6 or so....think about that while she's dancing around the stage
Floor is a shade over 6'. Why the constant exaggeration?
