    I must remember that there is nothing I can do to make myself look better to God, then what Christ did for me. My "work" now is to give thanks..always. Law vs Grace is one of the most important truths to understand. It changes your life/heart. The book of Romans helped so much. Keep seeking, like a hound after a rabbit!

    We need the law written on our hearts everyone. We use to live wickedly but now it’s time to get Gods laws written on our hearts to live righteously. Sin is transgression of Gods law. Gods law could be found in Deuteronomy & Leviticus. 😊

      The Law written on one's heart does not make one righteous.
      We are [JUSTIFIED] by JESUS CHRIST'S RIGHTEOUSNESS.
      One becomes RIGHTEOUS --- [IN] CHRIST.
      [Romans 13:14 -]
      But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.
      [Galatians 3:27 -]
      “For as many of you as were baptized [INTO] CHRIST have put on CHRIST.”

    AMEN! Thank you for, again for reinforcing this much-needed message (how many times will it take to get it to sink in?!) I continue to hear too many Believers attempting to guilt their Christian brothers and sisters to continue striving to remain under the bondage and burden of the law; much of this is done with their bully online pulpits on social media (including RUclips or message forums). Also, it smacks of self-righteousness, which in itself is sinful. Like you, I was reared in a denomination that presented the salvation gospel, but then added many add-ons (order/rules/no-can-do's) wherein one could never feel quite "good enough" to attain the "godliness"/holiness required as a Christian. My spirit suffered greatly under this type of legalism, despite my striving to be "good enough" (even after saved at age 15). After nearly 40 years of striving, unsuccessfully, and not having the "peace that passeth all understanding," and still feeling under condemnation, I finally recognized the meaning of God's Grace and embraced it fully! Am so thankful and grateful each and every day since that time. It is God's people who are the church/Ekklesia (NOT the buildings); we are the "called out ones" (the meaning behind the Greek term, "Ekklesia"}. My righteousness is not my own doing, but what Jesus did (on the cross). I will never going back under the law and chose this back in 2007, wherein I needed out of the religious system; Jesus is my Sabbath Rest. I have so appreciated your ministry, Dr. Farley! I'd attend your fellowship, if I were in your area. I share your online video teaching with as many as I feel are open to your messages that definitely present and reinforce the truths of Scripture...Grace (God's Riches at Christ's Expense).

    This is the best sermon I've ever heard on the subject of law v grace..absolutely amazing. It would seem like there is an apparent paradox in the statement of Jesus when he condemns those who had practiced lawlessness. They practiced lawlessness because they had not lived by the spirit, but rather had tried to attain unto righteousness by the law.

    No law, no alienation, no grace. I think it's important to recognise the distinctive character of the Apostle Paul's message. From Romans chapters 4 & 5, Paul makes the focus of his "gospel" of salvation based upon "covenant promises" made to Abraham. It's a salvation "apart from law". Since the "promise" and the "free gift" came apart from law, then however else you look at it, the “free gift” came because of law (biblical salvation was only ever offered in the context of law). The imputation of law, no matter how subtle, creates a need--for grace intervention. Adam "sinned" because of his alienaiton in response to the single Command “You shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”. That alienation was removed as a legacy, once and for all time, through the blood of Christ.

    Shalom my brother and sister in Christ and Israelites.
    Try to keep the laws to your best of your knowledge.
    Proverbs 22:6
    King James Version
    6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
    Matthew 5:17-20

    17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
    18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
    19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
    20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
    Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
    King James Version
    13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

    Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
    Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
    Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
    Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
    So what does it mean that Jesus didn’t come to destroy the law, but to fulfill?
    Destroy G2647 From G2596 and G3089; to loosen down (disintegrate), that is, (by implication) to demolish (literally or figuratively); specifically (compare G2646) to halt for the night: - destroy, dissolve, be guest, lodge, come to nought, overthrow, throw down.
    Fulfill G4137 From G4134; to make replete, that is, (literally) to cram (a net), level up (a hollow), or (figuratively) to furnish (or imbue, diffuse, influence), satisfy, execute (an office), finish (a period or task), verify (or coincide with a prediction), etc.: - accomplish, X after, (be) complete, end, expire, fill (up), fulfil, (be, make) full (come), fully preach, perfect, supply.
    How can we understand what meaning of “Fulfill” to use? By the Word!
    Luk 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
    Can God’s law be destroyed without our destruction? No!
    Jer 31:36 If those ordinances (The Law) depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel (see Gal 3:29) also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
    So were ALL things fulfilled with Jesus at the cross? No! But ALL things “concerning Jesus” in the law, prophets, and Psalms were fulfilled!
    Then we must conclude that the word “Fulfill” means He accomplished the Fathers Law perfectly and fully preached with understanding how we must obey the Fathers Law.
    If we try to say He destroyed the Law for us, then that makes it about us and not as it says, “concerning Him” (Luk 24:44), and we would no longer exist (Jer 31:36)!
    Which Mat 5:18 gives us our understanding in this already: Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
    Now we also have evidence in the very next verse after Mat 5:17 in regards to “Jesus coming to fulfill”. Because it says; heaven and earth must pass away before “the written law (this is a time when He writes His law in our hearts to perfectly obey) can pass away, and then “ALL BE FULFILLED”!
    Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
    Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
    H3820 “Heart” A form of H3824; the heart; also used (figuratively) very widely for the feelings, the will and even the intellect; likewise for the centre of anything: - + care for, comfortably, consent, X considered, courag [-eous], friend [-ly], ([broken-], [hard-], [merry-], [stiff-], [stout-], double) heart ([-ed]), X heed, X I, kindly, midst, mind (-ed), X regard ([-ed)], X themselves, X unawares, understanding, X well, willingly, wisdom.
    Just as Hebrews teaches, which was 70 years after the resurrection, “Behold the days come”!
    Heb 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them (us), he saith, Behold, the days come (Future event), saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah (Saying Israel and Judah includes all believers):
    Heb 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant (Just as we don’t perfectly keep His law), and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more (We haven’t gone through His judgment). Heb 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away (It hasn’t happened yet).
    We have the New Testament, Jesus Christ! For there must be a “Testator”, the one who must die, for the family to receive their inheritance (The Believer)! The confusion for many is that covenant and testament are the same exact word. A covenant with the Father requires a “Blood Sacrifice”, which Jesus fulfilled on the cross!

    "Trust the grace of our Jesus Christ", we do need the grace of Christ, but then we are told we have the grace of God. Which?
    Both!
    Look at how Jesus lived for us to follow. He did not live and die so that we could sin. He purchased us from the law, and we must live according to the Holy Spirit, for him to judge us. The righteous requirements of the Law shall be met by us when we live in the Holy Spirit, we can't sin because we don't serve sin. The righteousness of the moral law is written on our hearts.
    We cannot be righteous looking back to the mosaic law, but forward under Christ's law, love your neighbour does not consider sin, that way you comply with the law of righteousness by being truly righteous living. That is grace living.

  • @simonskinner1450
    @simonskinner1450 6 лет назад +1

    Pastor the law is for the unrighteous, so the righteous don't live under the law, therefore you must live righteous by faith (trust and obedience) in Christ. To be under the good judgement of grace, you need to live in righteousness, grace requires righteousness from us not law observance.

    There are two ditches on either side of the narrow road. One side is legalism and the other is antinomianism. What about 1John: walk as Jesus walked? Yes identically, but a new pattern of a changed life. Are you producing fruit in your life? The fruit is not what saves you, but it's evidence that you are saved.

    • @HarpsDad22
      @HarpsDad22 8 месяцев назад

      Yeah but the fruit you’re talking about isn’t the fruit God says we should have. That’s the problem. A believers fruit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, temperance etc… It is NOT attending church, reading your Bible, witnessing, singing in the choir, going on Missions trips, turning from all your sins, etc. Those are WORKS, which the Bible says we are not saved by our works.
      Also, Jesus is the narrow road, and works based religions are the wide road that leads to destruction.

    - Be not deceived your not born again if you walk in willful sin.
    By this we know that we know him - 1 John 3:6-10
    6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
    7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
    8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
    9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
    10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
    - Ephesians 5:2-11 kjv
    2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
    3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
    4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
    5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
    6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
    7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
    8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
    9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
    10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
    11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
    - Titus 2:11-15
    11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
    12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
    13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
    14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
    15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
    - Peter 2:12-22
    12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
    13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
    14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
    15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
    16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
    17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
    18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
    19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
    20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
    21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
    22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
    -- 2 Thessalonians 2:10-13 KJV
    And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
    11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
    12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
    13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth .

    Paul teachings was hard to understand. Thats why people believe that the law is done away with.
    What is sin? Lawlesness 1 John 3v 4
    Math 5:17 Jesus own words
    “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

    Christians err in that they insert themselves into a narrative that is not theirs.
    "Law" was for rebels (old covenant ancient Israel),
    "Grace" was for servants (new covenant ancient Israel),
    "Sonship" is for divine offspring (all mankind).

      "Grace" was for the man of Israel being delivered from flesh-dependency. The man of Israel needed God's sufficiency (Grace) to meet his insufficiency (flesh-dependency) in fulfilling the works of the Law. Once he realized his intrinsic union with God sufficiency through the Spirit, then he no longer needed "Grace".

      Very short answer:
      Adam, son of God (Luke 3:38) lost his self-identity as son of God, through the alienation of mind.
      Christ, son of God (John 1:34) restored Adam’s (Israel’s) self-identity as son of God, through the conciliation of mind.
      Adam brought many sons to shame. Christ brought many sons to glory. What was lost in Adam, was found again in Christ.
      Very long answer
      WHY POST-70 AD, ONE CANNOT BE EITHER "IN ADAM" OR "IN CHRIST"
      "Sin and death" was a covenant IDENTITY pertaining to the corporate body, Israel made "after the flesh". This identity was inherited from Adam who in SELF-IDENTITY made himself as one "after the flesh". The true "Adam" identity (Son of God) was "lost" and needed to be "found again". Thus this was a "temporary" mindstate. Thus the "sin and death" consciousness of this mindstateet under law, was "temporary".
      So, bearing in mind the biblical principle, "as in Adam, even so (in the same way) in Christ"....
      "Righteousness and life" was a covenant IDENTITY pertaining to the corporate body, Israel made "after the spirit". This identity was inherited "in Christ" ("the Second Adam") who was made "after the spirit". Again, being covenantal and representatively "in Christ", this "righteousness and life" was temporary.
      The new covenant operated against the backdrop of the old covenant and both existed in parallel during the transition period, AD 30 - AD 70. During the transition "Israel after the spirit" (the disciples, the Body of Christ) was EMULATING the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ; they were "dying daily" to their old self "in Adam", and "coming alive daily" to their new self "in Christ". Thus, until AD 70, they IN IDENTITY had yet to attain their own "righteousness and life", otherwise gifted by God to them through their faith in Christ, God's Son, the duration.
      THAT IS, UNTIL ... the Last Day.
      At the Last Day, Israel after the spirit, the Body of Christ, was (in figure) "caught up in the Spirit" to be with Christ, and together with Christ, ascended to the Throne of God, to stand "without spot or wrinkle" before the Throne.
      Faith, was now sight; "hope of glory" was now the realization of glory. They had attained! Now, having received the adoption of Sons of God, they possessed their OWN righteousness and life. What was once possible to be lost because of apostasy, was now impossible to be lost. What was once temporary and covenantal, was now permanent and heavenly. The Sonship that was lost by Adam, was now restored by Christ.
      All, whether believer and unbeliever, "lost their soul in Adam" because God had now destroyed that identity, one-and-for-all, as far as He is concerned. All believers now found their soul again in their "Sons of God in Glory" identity. Christ had accomplished his commission "in bringing many Sons to Glory". It was finished. And still is. What's done is done.
      That's why its not possible to be either "in Adam" or "in Christ", post-70 AD. It is only possible to be "a Son or Daughter of God" (from an Ancient Jewish perspective). That's why there is no "sin and death" or "righteousness and life" identtiy, post 70 AD. These were covenantal and temporary. As identities they were real enough, yet the product of the outworking of dualism: hence, sin vs righteousness; death vs life. Whereas, all are "In God" and "in God" there is no "sin vs righteousness" or "death vs life". There can be no God vs non-God, within God. There is only "God". Thus, whatever God is, we are.

    Here follows the Biblical Truth on Law and Grace quoted.
    Under the covenant of grace God requires from man just what he required in Eden,--perfect obedience.
    The believing sinner, through his divine Substitute and Surety, renders obedience to the law of God. Christ kept the law perfectly, and through him the believer shall not perish, but have everlasting life. He says, "I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth."
    Mercy granted to man is the reward of the merit of Christ, "who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." Through the plan of salvation, God can be just, and yet be the justifier of him that believeth in Jesus.
    The provision made for the salvation of men through the imputed righteousness of Christ, does not do away with the law, or lessen in the least its holy claims; for Christ came to exalt the law and make it honorable, to reveal its exceeding breadth and changeless character. The glory of the gospel of grace through the imputed righteousness of Christ, provides no other way of salvation than through obedience to the law of God in the person of Jesus Christ, the divine substitute. In the old dispensation believers were saved through the grace of Christ, as presented in the gospel, as we are saved today. The only means of salvation is provided under the Abrahamic covenant.
    The apostle says: "The kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." Now mark what the apostle says of those who cherish this hope. He continues: "Faithful is the saying, and concerning these things I will that thou affirm confidently, to the end that they which have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men." (Revised Version.) Good works will follow as the blossoms and fruit of faith. Appropriation of the righteousness of Christ will be manifested in a well-ordered life and godly conversation
    "Be Ye Therefore Perfect."
    Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Man is to be perfect in his sphere, even as God is perfect in His sphere. How can such a lofty standard be reached? The required perfection is based on the perfection of Christ, "who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption." He gave the command requiring perfection, He who was by birth a human being, though allied to divinity. He has passed over the road we are to tread, and He says, "Without Me ye can do nothing." But with Him we can do everything. Thus a perfect character can be obtained. God never issues a command without furnishing the grace sufficient for its fulfilment. Ample provision has been made that man shall be a partaker of the divine nature.
    "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." This is the standard God holds before His children. It is a standard of Christlikeness. Christianity means entire surrender to the will of God. Then it can be said of us, "Ye are complete in Him." {ST, July 26, 1899}
    May God our Heavenly Father open your eyes to see the truth, what is Truth? Jesus Christ is truth, Thy Word is truth, Thy commandments are truth, our Heavenly Father is truth and the Comforter, the Holy Spirit is truth.
