In this entry of Project Glastron, I prepare to install the rub rails back on the boat by getting them sanded and polished. Then along with some new hardware, the rails get re-installed along with the new vinyl rub rail insert by taco marine. The oval head fasteners that were used were "Oval Head Phillips, 10 X 1-1/2 in, Grade 18-8 Stainless Steel" and can be found on my website at www.jmink.info I also ordered a new vinyl rub rail insert from www.piersupply.com that's made by taco marine. If you'd like to buy a shirt any Amazon products used in my videos visit my website at www.jmink.com
Loved your boat build series and it helped me out tremendously. Don't be shy, keep some videos coming...View count will continue to grow because of the great content on your channel. Thank you for your time and efforts on your videos.....
Thanks for all the GREAT videos! Fixing up our 1979 FourWinns Catalina. Hoping to send some photos your way. Just finished tearing out the floor. Had a crack in the fiberglass between the front seats. Foam and stringers look good, but repair underway for reinforcement. Checking your materials list this evening. We’re subscribers and checking out the tee shirts too!
Love this series. Getting ready to do similar work to a 1977 Browning tri-hull. Your videos have helped me understand a lot. Thank you and I have sub’d.
hey buddy . iv been watching all the videos of your restoration . you did an amazing job! i just got my own 156 and i want to restore it just like you did , iv learned a lot watching your videos thank you taking the time to make them. but im curious. what was the total cost of the restoration ? if you dont mind me asking. .
Like many others, I have been watching all your videos in sequence. Fantastic work and excellent presentation skills. I really enjoy your manner of speaking and then your discussing and then showing all the steps. I’m at retirement age and would tackle something like this if I had the space to work and a project boat. Here’s a tip for the next time. I decided to try polishing an old, worn aluminum L bracket. After sanding with 400 grit, I used a drill-based polishing kit from HF and easily brought it to a mirror shine. The polishing compound replaces all the superfine grits and I think does a better job. Look at some of the aluminum polishing videos such as polishing pontoons, wheels or fuel tanks. Check out sites like DCsupershine.com. There can be a lot of enjoyment from polishing metals also.
Do you have any regrets on your process? Now that you’re almost done, is there anything you’d do differently again? Will be doing the floor and transom in an old reinell trihull and I think I will follow your process to a T. I just subscribed.
Thanks, Sal. If I had to do it over again the only thing I can think of to do differently would be how I ran the wires around the bow for the stereo. I rushed through that and I wish I would have created a wire tunnel versus gluing them in place. But, other than that I am pretty happy with how things have turned out. Thanks for subscribing and good luck with your boat!

Please tell me that you are going to do a full restoration on the engine too!
I’m going to replace a bunch of parts, but I’m not repainting. I might repaint in the future, but I want to use it for a bit first.

Did you cut the gelcoat when trimming the rubber? Love the work Sir! #MOBGA
Nope, there's a spot on the cap that has a split, been that way since I got the boat. Thanks for the kind words, and thanks for watching!
Looks awesome! Do you have new aqua lift and model decals for the sides of the boat?
Hi Rick! No as of right now I do not have any decals to put back on the boat.
jmink I have two new aqua lift side decals. They're yours if you want them. I couldn't find the v156 stickers.
I'm definitely interested! Just let me know the best way to contact you.
jmink I left a message on your website.
