Mr. Jarrett is not a musician that plays music on the piano. He plums the depths of the emotions the composer experienced when he or she created the piece. Mr. Jarrett absorbs all the feeling that was invested in the piece to the point where he becomes the music and then; using every iota of his heart and soul, he expresses those emotions through the piano. Committing 100% of his being to the process, he provides us with a masterful performance every original composer would likely be proud of.
He is absolutely immersed in the moment. Every part of his body is living this piece. The music is hypnotizing him. You can’t imagine the energy it takes to play the piano like this. It must be exhausting.
He’s very eccentric to watch but this is part of his genius - we get to participate in the huge emotion that he communicates through his playing. It is breathtaking to watch.
+Kimberly Brathwaite And the independence between his hands! Hell, I know that might be easy for classically trained pianists but I've transcribed part of this thing and it's bloody difficult.
Tom Parker Actually I think it's easier for jazz pianists than classically trained ones, because the left hand you're playing is the one you compose/improvise, so most of the time you're not trying to play what somebody else was thinking, just what you "hear" and as you hear it.
@@aminjomaa99 i don't know how someone even begins to get their two hands doing different things... when i 'play' a piano my hands can't do different stuff, feels like i need a second brain to do that
A superb pianist , second to none . Sadly I understand he has had a stroke which is a cruel blow - hopefully he will recover , but ,as a doctor , I know that the outcome is unpredictable . I wish him the best ; his achievements are immense .
There is absolutely no chance that his condition will improve. It would already be very complicated for a young person, but at his age, there is nothing to hope for unfortunately. This is for me the greatest loss of the piano world, nobody plays like him
I was at a well-known record producer's house yesterday- framed records and pictures all over the place ( very "big" names) We were talking about Jarret/O.Peterson, etc. put the old vinyls on ! He said, yes, real musicians, real music, no digital manipulation, real instruments, no BS. What a Joy.
Gotta say, this is one of my favs of his work. He says he literally goes out on stage at times not knowing one single note of improve he's going to play. He says his best music comes when he's not thinking about it at all, just listening and enjoying. Obviously, from a biologically technical standpoint, he IS thinking, but I think what he means is not consciously thinking, kind of like what some call "muscle memory" in sports, but in a different and higher level way. What he does is as if you were redesigning an Olympic dive (let's say) real time. Likely a SERIOUSLY bad idea in that case (although I have seen a few where it looks like they did just that, TOTAL wipe outs, back and belly flops or smashing against the board or platform). Just letting his subconscious work it out...it knows the rules, it knows music, and it just FLOWS. Scary, but amazing. He said there are times when he felt like he was melting into the high keys of the piano during one concert. Yes, he is weird...his music though....WOW. I also expect he drives the recording engineers absolutely BONKERS, as I've heard from a few Glenn Gould did back in his first Goldberg Variations recording (worth a listen if you've never heard it...quite unique).
I`ve listened to Keith for many years now and I`m so thankful for all he has done and the countless hours of pure enjoyment he has given me along with the grunts and groans I love it all. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Keith Jarrett: one of the best jazz pianists. He really gets into his playing, making love to the piano...almost literally. That piano needs some lovin', I suppose. LOL Beautiful song.

Performers- Keith Jarrett School/Style-jazz fusion Form-free form reason for inclusion- I included this into my playlist because he is so enjoyable to listen to and I didn't want to forget to listen, to this song in particular, over and over again. This song has such a cool vibe and I really like his intensity/passion he plays with.
Blessed are those who were present in the audience; we, no less blessed are just a little elevated for the six minutes and eleven seconds. I don't think there could be a better serenade of summer..

I don`t care if he grunts, groans or farts I love his style and the way he gyrates his body. No question he is really into what he is doing.

Великолепно выдержаны танцевальные ритмы. Класс!!!
Music lovers can easily look past his eccentricities to his talent.
@@BruceCross His eccentricities are exactly the thing what makes him such a great musician. I don't believe in polished, Michelangeli style play.

The ultimate goal of music. To bring you in emotional ecstasy. Music lives in Jarrett's body.

Keith’s playing is the purest, and most free. Straight out of the ether.
all these years later let's pray for this amazing musician to heal and thrive

Un'interpretazione unica e geniale. Blues e altre contaminazioni. Questo rimarrà il più grande pianista della storia del jazz. Strepitoso. Immenso.

What a great jazz pianist...such clear and rich tone. Mr. Garrett and Bill Evans are by the most expressive and creative pianists in their eras to me.
