It’s tough to find a root touch up and highlights tutorial. I like this application I’ll try this forsure! And agree that highlights 1st then touch up hasn’t made much sense to me with timing and messiness. 🤔thank you! I used to live in West Seattle I miss the seasons! ⛈💜💫
I’ve been out of school and booth renting since August and your videos help me so much!! I love your work thank you for posting ❤️❤️
Oh good! Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy booth renting!

A way I have been doing it is applying the color on the root and do the highlight from the bottom up at the same time as I go
alternating especially when the hair is short the color between helps the foil stick and not slip.
Yeah that's a great way too!
THIS WAS SO HELPFUL TO ME!!! I’ve been struggling with this for a while. Thank you.
Yes! I call it a "shampoo swirl" in my notes when I use the base color to tone the hilights.
Omg such a funny term!😂😂
Kristi do u have a tip removing dark brown color/level 3 from the skin please. What color remover do you use?
You can apply a little barrier on the skin with either some Vaseline or cream. Be carful to not hit the hair itself. Aveda has a great color remover for skin.
How do you keep the hair of the highlights at the scalp over the color from turning orange?
I totally agree and I feel like highlighting first the color touch up can be more damaging on the highlighted part.
Ok I’ve always wanted to try doing the foiling after I apply the root color. I’ve been scared but I’m going to try it!
Same here! I hate having to move all of my foils around to go back and do the color.
You totally should!
Yes, I hate moving foils around!
It’s so much easier ♥️
Is it pretty much guaranteed the bleach will just eat through the root color with no problems? I use wella, not sure if the color lines make a difference
Could this be done when doing a level 6 red color as well?
Yes but let your client know the highlights will be warm
Hi So it’s ok for the bleach and the root colour to touch? I’ve been paranoid about this as thought it wd melt the hair or something 🤦♀️
It won’t melt the hair but I have seen it cause orange banding
Sorry im not familiar with the matrix line,in the UK here. Are you using a demi or permanent colour? My guess is permanent due to development time. Thanks in advance and love your videos x
I'm also scare of clouds! Specially the dark ones I see in the summer down here in Fl, I've seen funnel clouds and believe it is the most scary feeling when you're driving 😧
Omg I would DIE! my biggest anxiety!
Kristi, couldn't you for example foil one section, right side then apply color in between foil. Foil the other side and apply color between the foil. And do the same for the top and back. Then rinse each side starting at your first section you started.
I had a boss who would put a foil and then would add the color after each one ive always been to chicken to try lol
Honestly that would take way too long
Kristi, I loved the way it came out!
With grey coverage you pretty much HAVE to start in the front, how would you rinse the front without compromising the back?
Good question! And I personally wouldn't. That would be way too time consuming. Id have to mix 4 different bowls if color/ bleach to make sure it has the lifting power as the first section. And also rinsing would be a hot mess too. Im sure a person could, but I never would. It's shado also the point of moving the foils around to then go back and do the roots.
I’m fucking dying r now about your cloud rant 🤣🤣
Dude they SCARE ME 😳
Kristi, love your work, can you share a video with adding some low lights in between the hi lights. Thank you!
Kristie, so is the matrix ok to be in the hair longer than 45 minutes? Since it will take longer than 45 mins to do the foils and let the lightener process fully (for many people).
It really varies in the clients hair integrity. Always check if your worried it’s sitting on too long
@@hairbykristijennings6648 Thank you so much for your reply. I am newer to the matrix line and I don't remember if the 500 series stops processing after the 45 mins or if it continues.
Pretty area, thanks for sharing your cloud.... I wished I lived with all those trees everywhere. ( in summer though)
Thank you! Yes very beautiful here!
I try so so hard to keep my grey root touch clean and neat but I feel the darker the color the harder it is to keep it contained. I NEVER drip color unless I’m using 2N 😂 like why??
It's a curse! 😂😂😂🤦♀️🤦♀️
How do you recommend transitioning from full root bleaching to highlights? I still want to be blonde just with less maintenance. My natural hair is a level 4 and I feel like I never get enough blonde with highlights.
Oh im doing that service today! Il upload it soon!
I use matrix too I took a class and they said you couldn’t or shouldn’t mix dream age with anything else have you had any problems ?
Ive always mixed this way, never had problems.
can it be done with "permanent" colors? or just demis.
i mean the blond doesn't get dirty or brassy ?can you get a clean lift with this method? since some of the color gets into the bleach..
also can demis fully cover grey?
thanks :))
Demi doesn't fully cover grey. Only permanent. It can blend grey tho..... I only do this if someone doesn't want bright, cool blonde.

@@hairbykristijennings6648 what do you do if they want a cool blonde?
Nice job, thank you 🙏🏽
Girlll! I’m freaked out so bad by clouds & fog!
Omggg! Im so glad to know that! They're freaky!
Do you have a fav go to mixing ratio for highlights using the Blondeme lightener?
No, it's really depends on the hair..... so it changes for everyone
What do you charge for this complete service?
= parts? (With the two colors) 😊
I totally have a phobia of driving on highways and freeways, especially if they’re up high and turn! It’s so completely irrational, and his limited my life! I’m actually seeking therapy for it now so weird.
Can you do a roots retouch and root highlights
That's what she just did in this video
I'm scared driving through fogs.
Thank you 😊
Of course!
Please don’t drive and film yourself or the road. I get you want to get content but it’s not worth it. Plus illegal so 🤷🏻♀️
