Blue Hole Diving In The Bahamas | JONATHAN BIRD'S BLUE WORLD

  • Jonathan travels to Andros, an island in the Bahamas, to investigate underwater caves that start in blue holes. A blue hole looks like a pond, but leads into a vast underwater cave system. In the Bahamas, these caves often lead to the ocean. As Jonathan explores the ocean end of the caves, he learns how the two systems are connected.
JONATHAN BIRD'S BLUE WORLD is an Emmy Award-winning underwater science/adventure program.

Leaving the markers in the deep water (which can be felt when light fails down) is sooooo thoughtful!!!!!

"Spooky" is right. Going through an underwater cave is scary enough, but swimming over a 500' deep chasm while doing so is terrifying to think about. The end of this video was brilliant, showing how the different water systems interact, and the reactions of the coral to the invasive washout. I just finished watching Blue Planet II, and your end segment could easily have fit into that program.

This is the best video of yours, amongst all the videos ..especially the part where you say, “while Tim hovers above, I decide to perform a little experiment. While this may look like sand, it is actually a deep layer of silt, silt is formed by the decomposition of leaves and other organic matter.” As soon as you said, organic matter word, it reminded me of organic chemistry as my mother is chemistry professor and I just recalled how she was always after me during examinations to learn my formulas and periodic tables 😃😔😎😒☺️

I’m so glad someone mentioned something about the “blue hole” grades? Even how it looks from the opening edge.
    Better murky than polluted water?
Roping guide for directed dive lines. Very wise.
It seems the caves water had a difference of photosynthetic concentration near the top of the waters layer. However seem to clear up a a little?
Near the bottom of the cave, yes the silky fossil layer had so much time settled and detailed. Amazing-tracks!
Thank for showing us those hole apertures.
I love how your put those orientations regarding the hydrogen sulfide and how it may have left forms of affection and area influence.
How did you feel after the dive?

Jonathan, you really need to visit a place called Tenerife. My dad says that underwater it is buetiful and there are fish swimming everywhere, and playful seal pups swimming around and nibbling away on your flippers while you dive. Watch out for sea urchins there though, they really hurt if you stand on them. I am only suggesting this, not telling you to do it, but again, it is a lovely place!

"Trained Divers can descend deeper than 130 feet. They do it all the time. However, diving deeper than 130 feet requires technical dive training, such as deep air, decompression procedures, and trimix courses. Never attempt to dive deeper than the recreational dive limits without specialized training". Feb 3, 2020.

Jonathan, I’ve been subbed for a few years now and i absolutely love all of your vids! I think you deserve so many more views/subs, and i bet it’s hard to pay for all of your high quality equipment, considering you’re making an average of 1.5k views a video. I’ve realized that people love videos that involve danger, so maybe you could try being like the coyote Peterson of the ocean and do a vid once in a while that involves some kind of dangerous sea animal. This might boost your AVC and help your income. Anyway, love your vids and just want you to keep this channel afloat. Have a great day :)

It was a very short visit to 150 with less than 5 minutes deco, and we had a nice shallow area to explore for the deco. The divemaster had another whole spare tank with him just in case. I know, a little unconventional.

Whenever you watch a video, you usually only dive in a single tank, but don't you have a technical dive like a trimix?
