With no national selection set for Poland ESC 24, there has been talk of another potential song that could go forward to represent them in this years contest!
Another artist who is in the preselection for Poland is L.U.C. & RB Film Orchestra ft. Kayah, Dagadana, Laboratorium Pieśni, Tęgie Chłopy - Jesień - Tańcuj, from the film Chilopi (The Peasants).

Fun fact: after they filmed the movie, they hired over 100 painters who painted each frame by frame and that's what you've seen, the whole movie is made out of paintings that were done into "stop-motion animation"

Jesień means autumn in Poland and it's from a movie that uses seasons to narrate it, this song is from autumn part and this movie was made entirely from paintings, it's not AI or anything like that

Movie "Peasants" ("Chłopi" in Polish) is amazing! Definitely worth watching. It's based on a book and it was polish candidate for the Oscar

Also "Chłopi" the book, got Władysław Reymont (the writer) Nobel's Prize in 1924.
In the original book Chłopi, the girl (her name was Jagna) was actually kind of antagonist. She was a free spirit, she had a lot of affairs, very artistic soul. She agreed to marry an older man because her mother wanted this. The man was good to her and loved her, but she end up cheating on him constantly (including with his own son). The story itself is quite complicated, very greyish (not only black and white) with a lot of characters. If you would ever have occasion to read it, I highly recommend. If not, at least I can recommend watching the movie 😁

@@noosh101 The most important thing is that the in the book the main character is nor Jagna, nor Antek, nor Boryna, but whole community - their traditions and "the way they run things". The movie focuses more on Jagna's story, but it is still important to note that characters are not only antagonists but also "victims of their times" - they behave in certain ways because they were raised to do so, not only by parents or families, but also by whole reality of living during this time period and in this conditions.
The artists of the song is DAGADANA and the song is called "Jesień-Tańcuj" which in translation means Autumn-Dance and would be pronounced as "yeshyenee - taneetsooy" in Polish

The Polish broadcaster TVP was set to announce something regarding the representative on the 15th of Feb but nothing has come out yet but it is also expected they'll announce the representative on the 16th (Friday) or the 19th (Monday)

This is a movie based on a Nobel Prize-winning novel. Władysław Reymont is the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature for his novel 'The Peasants - Chłopi'. This is the epic of Polish village life at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The film is shot using a unique technique. The authors transform the real film image into animation and add scenes like in an animated film. This movie was nominated for an Academy Award this year. The first film using this technique is Loving Vincent (2017)

The 2 songs left that could possibbly get selected are Sasi - Karma and Coals - Nowy Świat. Other than those you have pretty much seen all of the heavy hitters. There is still a lot of other good songs worth checking out. My recomendations are: Dama - Kwiaty, Lola - Zabawa, Levie - Zabiłem Ją (esspecially the live version), Ewa lodzik - Przytupaja, Konrad - Paranoja, Assembled - Short Period Of Panic, Izdeb - Duch, Kuba Kluza - Bluebird, Miśka Krasowska - Bezmiar, Raf - Romantyzuje Przeszłość, Mary Syll - 1999, Spleenn - Omen, Krystian Embadora - Rebel and there is a lot of psycho fans of Serpents - Hourglass. it's a shame that TVP didn't manage get us a national final this year because there is so many good submisions.
Well, with two more days before we learn our representative on Monday, I would suggest Coals "Nowy Świat" for a reaction as something in Polish that is very modern music sounding. (Though I'm aware there's multiple NFs today and tomorrow for you to do winner videos on also.)

The movie is so worth watching!! It's a polish movie called "The Peasants". The movie was first recorded with actors irl and then the film frames were hand-painted by a hundred artists. They were supposed to reproduce the art of Polish realism from the 19th century. Many scenes depict real paintings, for example those of Józef Chełmoński.
Everything, music, and the landscape, paintings or the traditions they show in the movie depicts polish culture and slavic culture so well.
The movie is also based on Władysław Reymont's Nobel Prize-winning novel of the same title - The Peasants.

The song is a bit repetitive but it has to be significantly shortened anyway so I think it could even make it more dynamic. I love folk mixed with a modern beat, that's why I'm usually a big fan of Ukraine's songs , so I would be delighted if Poland to finally sent something like that! As for the film I definitely recommend it, it's based on a classic book by a Nobel prize winning author and even though the book is a bit boring, I though the film was beautiful - especially the soundtrack!!

Movie is based on the novel. This girl Jagna who was the most beautiful girl in the village was forced to marry a widowed old man who was the richest man in the village but she loved and had a love affair with his son who was married and the whole village despised her and after her husband died they throw her away of the village on the card full of animal sh*t
so ill try ro explain the song without spoiling the movie ending and plottwists.
The girl doesn’t want to get married but her family wants her because that men shes dancing with in white dress is rich and old, Until the 18/19th century this was a common thing in poland and all slavic nations to get a girl to get married to rich old men. The chorus translates to
„Wedding news are flying into the world, dance and go crazy just like the wild autumn-wind for love 1-2-3 drink for the sake of love my brother, for love, bottoms up! hey! dance with us here get the floor to shatter, hey dance with us get ur legs into the air”
in the other part of the music video where she dances in red dress with another men she dances with a true lover of hers that is poor and her family doesn’t want him to get with her.
the verses of song are getting darker the further you go into the song and they move a lot of topics but i can’t tell you about the topic of the because they will spoil the movie.
Fun fact: there was over 100 painters hired to make oil paintings used for the movie(it’s fully made of the paintings, all the scenes)

The groom was the richest man on the countryside so the girl’s mother wanted her to merry him and have a good life, but the groom’s son had a lust on her and they had an affair. Acording the oryginal book the girl was not a really good person, she had many romances and cheated on her husband. In the movie her character was more romantized by people who created the film, but still it’s worth to be watched.

You have a mistake in the title. It's not “Chilopi” but “Chłopi” (or you can write Chlopi, it's wrong but better than Chilopi). It means “The Peasants” and that's a movie based on the book of the same title.
Reymont got Nobel prize in 1924 for this novel. It's about life of peasants in Poland in four seasons. “Jesień” (autumn) is one of the seasons described in the book with the same title.

It's polish village, 1883/1884. This is a story of Jagna, who was the prettiest girl in a village, an artistic soul. Her mom wanted for her to have a good future, so they arranged mariage with older, but rich widower Boryna, a land owner, whom Jagna didn't love (and her mom knew about it, but told her daughter "love comes and goes, but land remains"). Jagna is in love with Boryna's son from his first marriage. In addition, because Jagna is very beautiful, many men from treir village desires her, there are rumors about her tempting others, so the woman in the community get jealous.
This music video is a compilation of scenes from the movie, most scenes are from Janga and Boryna's wedding, some are secret meetings of lovers, and when she's in a red dress she's in a dancing whith youth and the one she loves (and it's when the old men realizes what's going on).
I won't spoil the end of the story, but the 2023 Peasants film is very good, I highly recommend watching it if you can.

It is an adaptation of the book "The Peasants" by Reymont. The author of this book received the Nobel Prize in Literature. It is a story about the life of peasants in the 19th century.

I feel like the movie is really good on it's own, but if you really want to know the story definitely read the book (no idea if it's even translated as it is really old story) as the story in the movie was changed and the characters were made to be more villain esque or trying to make good characters from the not so good ones. The girl in the movie is made to look like a victim as in the actual story was a real b. She married the guy because he had a lot of land and was kind of old so he would die sooner. The guy she married wasn't in the actual book bad or anything but the movie made him into a true villain which I think is a little unfair. But also as the times change I wouldn't say either of them were good or bad, they were just trying to live in the small polish village when it was really strict on what is morally ok and what's not. The true bad character is the son of the guy because not only did he sleep with his dads new wife, he cheated on his own wife to do it and they had children together. The son's wife was also a really good person (at least that's what we can see) so it makes it a lot worse that the son would cheat on her. But at the end, the movie is definitely really good, the story is really heartbreaking and the painting job is beautiful. But like I said the true story is in the book
