Man, since this book has the story of everyones lives, I wonder how many books are made out of Dr. Bright’s story. Probably a story of his jokes and stories.
Alexandria Eternal is by far my favorite SCP that I’ve ever read, and it’s pretty baffling that this wasn’t the SCP-001 of its series. And this specific SCP was the reason I got so deeply mesmerized by the universe and possibilities of the SCP world, and I’m sure many share my experience. I feel if an SCP movie is ever made this would have to be one of the subjects or scenes covered during the plot if not a main plot itself. I’ve been waiting for someone to cover this concept properly and I’m glad The Exploring Series did. TES being the most clearest and visually entertaining channel for SCP binging. Some of my favorite stories are the experiments with changing or creating new books of fictitious people like Henry Adams who appeared just to die terribly. Molly the Cataloger and Marvin the Retriever robots that Alexandria Eternal assimilate into the library after Theopolis the Watcher who passes after seeing the sky again and a final duo are finally found to tend to Alexandria Eternal’s books and “appreciate” her for the rest of time. Giving them a book amongst other beings in Alexandria Eternals universe. A truly great piece of literature that could be adapted into its own series with endless possibilities.
Foundation researcher: oh this is gonna be good Book text: Dr. cimmerian has never told anyone they were wrong about anything Result: universe collapses
Writes in book: " was spontaneously struck with a revelation about some basic rules of the library, as much as he could handle knowing." boom. I swear, the foundation has a fetish for sacrificing ppl needlessly.
A re-write for life on earth, found in potentially the oldest “building” in history. This article is amazing, while it should be a 001 proposal, the number it has lets it stand out.
"Two robotic AIs were developed for that purpose. Dubbed Marvin and Molly." I'm so fucking happy when I heard that. Really glad Marv has gone to greater heights
unless being given permission, you'll definitely just die or being a bit more humane, you just forget why you are there. Books are meant to be read, and not altered. The author, which we can assume to be Alexandria, will not allow that.
The story of Theopoles seeing the sunrise again after 2000+ years of living in the library and entrusting the library to the foundation before passing on is just such a beautiful story... Too bad the Foundation immediately starts messing with shit not 12 seconds later
What would be the point of it though? Unlike in the Infinite Ikea where you have to try to survive against the employees, Alexandria Eternal is simply a library.
27:00 Somehow, I find those final paragraphs to be such a beautiful summary of how a researcher managed to escape the end of the world and managed to, in a way, undo it. Loved the scp and your way of just telling these story’s captivates me
If we read a book by someone who dies from scp-049 would it say 049 or 049's name? Would this work with every other unnamed scp? What could we learn by cause and effect?
I need this for my exams. Just 1 line to add in. "He studied diligently in the 2 weeks leading up to his exams" I don't even want to add "success". Just let me study 😭
TAc Legit probably. Alexandria seems to have a legitimate personality that wants to be appreciated but properly respected while always in a single place. The Wanderers Library is a constantly moving and shifting pocket dimension with the ability to subjugate people to become it’s librarians if they try to damage its halls and books while instead of having all humans history (like literally all humans life as books) contain all books. Alexandria is tsundere while the Wanderers Library is more kuudere with some sadist tendencies.
@@RavenCloak13 The personalities of both libraries are a reflection of their contents (Alexandria is exclusively about "humans"; while Wanderers is about both "aliens" AND humans).
Given the tone you read these in, the general way you enunciate, so forth- it's always hilarious to me when you make pop-culture references. "Insert Death Note reference here," love it. (In general, I love your narrative voice- very calming, relaxing. You also do a good job at emoting while directly reading certain texts- e.g. interviews, quotes, personal notes, letters, etc.- while maintaining your clear enunciation; add on the subtitles, and I'm not only very impressed, but also very appreciative- thanks for being spectacular at this, and for making an effort to be clear and easy to understand, including subtitles for most/all of your videos)
Disagree with this comment. Love all the cosmic horror stuff. But the thing that makes me love this SCP is that this is not another edgy, indestructable "hate everything" SCP, and the whole concept makes me interested in it.
I feel like this, alongside 468, has to be my favorite SCP. I have deep respect for history, so an SCP that has a perfect record (well, as perfect as it can be without being edited) makes me happy. The idea of the library reminds me a little bit of Palace in the video game Echo. I mean, in the sense that Palace is also alive (though, through AI), is more vast than the eye can see, and is glamorous in appearance. The difference is Palace seeks to kill the player, so...
The Wanderer's Library is another SCP location that is similar. It is actually in another dimension and has much more "protective" librarians. I think the Serpent's Hand video from this channel is the right one to watch for more info.
The difference is that, that one has all information and you can't alter history with it. Idk why but I find stories with magical libraries so special and intriguing they make me feel curious and [EXPUNGED] and [REDACTED] so many emotions its hard to capture it all in a comment
I don’t know why but I love the format in which you go about delving into the lore and make it so uniform. Other scp channels read them off or give off a tryhard-wannabe researcher vibe but this just feels right. I’ve already read watched all of your scp exploring videos and even some of the dungeon and dragons ones but I have to say it’s definitely worth the wait. This is some quality over quantity and I just want you to know your work is appreciated. Btw I only got a add at the end but you should put on in the middle and beginning as well to be able to profit a bit more off these videos. I think you deserve that for this wonderful content you give us
I want to thank you for covering these. It helps me relax, with the music and your voice it is always so mysterious. I am an artist and it helps me think and create. I hope you continue to make these ☺💗
I gotta read this SCP but as a side note imagine having to have the iron will to resist torching the books of history‘s greatest tyrants and mass murderers, I mean we’ve all heard the question “if you could go back in time and kill Hitler would you”, with this SCP you could skip the time travel and possibly prevent WWII from happening but conversely you’d rewrite living history and potentially make things worse. Conversely you could taking still “living stories” and write in that they discovered the cure to cancer or how to solve world hunger as likely more acceptable ways of improving the world, or you could find your own book and write in upon leaving the library, you found the love of your life and shortly married them. Or you could simply write the line “and he/she became an immortal god.” Yeah out of all the SCP’s this one is probably the most dangerous as it’s the “edit” function of humanity and as an extension, reality.
There are very clear limits with punishments for hubris. People only have enough power to royally f*ck things and themselves up. Only a little bit of alteration seems allowed.
That seems extremely foolish for something resembling reality. In the SCP universe, that sounds like a great way to cause the end of the world if not the universe. They're on a razor's edge of survival.
To make it coherent, they'd have to have a far more consistent canon which of course would remove some of its unique flavor. Also, they'd have to tone down the SCP's self destructive idiocy. Anime would still work with their psychotic murdering for kicks though.
@@patrickmccurry1563 well there is anime out there that has incoherent episodes for example animatrix, some of it was about the lore others and some was about someone life in the matrix all of it isnt incoherent but I agree with you for the most part. I say that speaking in terms of the reality that really, after repeatedly hearing/reading/studying/researching/and certainly writing as well lest none forget without those first initial primary stories/ideas/powerhouses of intellectual property of deeply creative character , charm, and personalities & minds of it's own (I myself, do indeed in all fact, genuinely have to - at times, foster some auspicious authentic wonderment and curiosity as to which SCPs derived from the mind's infinite ahashik record bank of knowledge versus which SCPs would now merely love if nothing else each and every single one of us, cumulatively the makeup of humanity itself, be frankly tickled pink with our sincerely thinking the world of SCPs, and all it's contributing writers, the wiki, countless hours upon hours spent both reading in enjoying, terrifying, crying, frightening, morbidity, and diverse splendor as possible, I say truly egregious erroneously demonstrable acts of inhuman suffering, so perverse they , quite naturally, may almost be fated being upon the wiki at sooner or later happenings, and the like) I mean come on people, we all can only take sooooo much blood + gore + guts n' glory before even though well written and entertaining as all get out, it's kinda the whole: rinse & repeat all too familiar formulaic yarn being thrown our direction with some changes, adaptations, size/shape/powers/blunders/etc... kodiak dipper people don’t believe it though? It’s horror fiction with a dash of the fantastical; this is a known fact. It’s no different to reading a story. Just because they take away the degree of separation which clearly divides fact and fiction doesn’t automatically make it an attempt to convince people it’s true. I would ask you to use your brain cells, but they clearly haven’t seen use in a while.

Think it takes a lot more thought and effort to write SCP's that simply read as nice short stories and don't end horrifically. Challenges the writer more I feel.
Jump scares and nightmares are easy. Intriguing and unique is much harder.
Psychological horror takes effort too
Man, since this book has the story of everyones lives, I wonder how many books are made out of Dr. Bright’s story.
Probably a story of his jokes and stories.
Just the list of things Dr. Bright is no longer allowed to do.
The library comenting “why do they let this guy work there?”
I think there gonna be one PC there with 100 TB of Bright story
Dr. Bright would likely have his own library.
I feel like it would be annoyed comments on how he keeps stealing bodies.
Foundation researcher: oh this is gonna be good
Book text: Dr. cimmerian has never told anyone they were wrong about anything
Result: universe collapses
Writes in book: " was spontaneously struck with a revelation about some basic rules of the library, as much as he could handle knowing." boom. I swear, the foundation has a fetish for sacrificing ppl needlessly.
"Dr. Joe knows exactly what the library can, can't and won't do, and documented this knowledge in the SCP-4001 file"
Watcher: will you use the library?
The Foundation: only if necesary
Watcher: Okay *dies*
Foundation: *immediatly starts changing up the books*

Unsettling AND amusing. You gotsa love how intensively they get to experiment/engineer/weaponize the library.
Possession of this library can make you a god.
No it cannot. You are forgetting the intelligence within. If you truly try to be a God, she gona make your life hell... Or none exist ant.
unless being given permission, you'll definitely just die or being a bit more humane, you just forget why you are there. Books are meant to be read, and not altered. The author, which we can assume to be Alexandria, will not allow that.

Damn, that deserves recognition. Thanks.
I wonder if its related to the wanderers library
It'd be funny if they were rivals lol
TAc
Legit probably.
RavenCloak13 Yes! *LIBRARY-CHAN!*
@@RavenCloak13 The personalities of both libraries are a reflection of their contents (Alexandria is exclusively about "humans"; while Wanderers is about both "aliens" AND humans).
@@adolfodef the wanderers library doesn't just have aliens it has books about EVERYTHING
Out of all SCPs I know, this is my favourite... Mainly because it doesn't rely on the now overused and pretentious Cosmic and abstract Horror.
Disagree with this comment. Love all the cosmic horror stuff. But the thing that makes me love this SCP is that this is not another edgy, indestructable "hate everything" SCP, and the whole concept makes me interested in it.
27:13 ''All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again.''

Ive always found the best SPCs are the ones that are great concepts (like this one)
I absolutely love your coverage of these SCP articles. The SCP project is one of the most expansive and creative collective internet endeavors ever.
The mental image of some guy in some outfit or armor riding a bicycle in a huge and beautiful library is funny
the library from Pagemaster is a manifestation of this SCP or a close relation of Alexandria Eternal
"let's crack some D-Class" is maybe the most SCP sentence you will ever read or hear.
This sounds like the Akashic Record...
It does, but I think the Akashic records are supposed to have all information, period. Unless I'm thinking of something else...
Its the same concept, except you can't alter akishic records
@@thecoolcario9048 Fair point.
I hope you continue to make these ☺💗
Woah, this one is far better than I expected
Or you could simply write the line “and he/she became an immortal god.”
Yeah out of all the SCP’s this one is probably the most dangerous as it’s the “edit” function of humanity and as an extension, reality.
This is by far my favourite SCP of all, I thank you for it masterful retelling and will hold it fondly in my memory.

Oh hell yeah now I MUST make the statement here and now to such point of fact as this particular SCP, SCP-4001, is truly something highly imaginative, poignantly laid out and established for all who wish to hear it, as well as having the non so typically after such a period of time while studying the universe complete of SCPs, one does seemingly I dare make perfectly clear no bones about their being essentially desensitized, or basically made 'shock proof'.

People in the Serpent's Hand: Yeah..... well..... our library has books that won't *ever* be written *and* books that don't exist.
But uh.... can we take a peek inside your library, Jailers? (what the Serpent Hand calls the Foundation)
Why did I imagine this in a Japanese school setting with the scp foundation just slipping past like "nope I ain't dealing with shit"
The tragedy of the Foundation. They test the library to see what it could do, instead of just writing 'Reseacher spontaneously finds an SCP file that explains exactly how and why the Eternal Library of Alexandria works." in researcher s book.
