I find myself coming back to this video every so often. Thanks for keeping this video up. It's a truly nice song that has aged really well considering it's been a decade already...
Humility, metaphysical treasure. Wisdom, you that drain me with your grief waters. Ladder that takes me to the bottomless abyss. Towards up. Towards the light. Calm down. Don´t collapse. There´s still something to live for. The puzzle can be completed. Even if its pieces change all the time. And to top it all it´s finite, in its never ending. He couldn´t even suspect what had happened. Wounds where healing. But the body was still decomposing, in beautifull and delirious forms.
Looks to me like C# standard, I thought he played this in D standard, but my guitar in D is one semi-tone too high. So that's C#F#BEG#C#, I'm working on a Guitar Pro version of this tab so if anyone wants it just PM me. On Carson's Tumblr page you can find tabs for this song in a text version, which is what I'm making my Guitar Pro tab from.
"classical" in the sense that you need to have an ear for what came before to understand what happens later. Whole different level of guitar playing. The guy definitely suffered to write the song. Anyone know who makes the guitar and where I can snag a recording of this song?
I know he released a bunch of tabs a super long time ago does anyone still have this one? I will forever be in debt to the person who’s held on to it this long.
loved the colours and the sounds in this video, amazing guitar playing, what is your inspiration and what is your music usually based upon. it's very beautiful. i also liked the camera work
well, i don't really believe in music genres, I used math-rock as some kind of reference really, I'm sure bands tagged as math-rock don't really care about that either. I've listened to Rachmaninoff, I guess i'll have to check out Art Tatum and Cecil Taylor and Philipp Glass. Most of the artists you name are pianists, how do you take their influences and apply them on your guitar? Cheers and sorry for all the questions, it's just great to be talk with a musicn.(And excuse my unnacurate english)
@TheDanification It's not the same one, but Godin makes one. Check out their 5th Avenue Kingpin model. You can get them as an acoustic or with one or two P90's. Cool guitar and has gotten pretty good reviews.
Definitely not as involved in music as he used to be, he plays with a live band every once in awhile called Hautahuah but they only have like 2 original songs (good ones) and the rest are just band covers of Carson's other stuff, specifically Watchers and Quickly. I have a couple ripped MP3s of live performances because I like them so much
Rank Savage I have a hard time believing someone at this level of artistry would not be as involved with music - perhaps not publicly or using this name...the guy is super low key
ive been trying to figure out this, i have some parts tabbed, i dont know much about theory, but it looks like its constructed around the altered scale (probably he doesnt even know/care/thought about this), i commented a few day ago but it seems no ones realy interested (at least other guitar players) thats a shame...
everyone wants the easy way, "give me the tab" im actually asking for some help, i got it almost all tabbed, the slide part in the end is difficult, i got the main idea thou
@madmax892006 Nobody would argue that Lil Wayne is vastly more popular by doing what he does best. It is no surprise his video has more views, but views aren't the only number worth counting. 99% of the people who came across this video liked it. Contrasting that to the 28% rating for Lil Wayne, I don't find anything horrible about it.
I totally agree. I took Music Theory AP my senior year after playing guitar for 7 years - it was nonsense and I use none of it when writing or playing.
@madmax892006 i disagree, in my opion there is no advantage (hehe) in being well known. If you compare this with the lil Wayne video you will see the he has more hit's but 3/4 voted for dislike. This one has almost a 100% like (2 dislikes, probably due to miss clicks... ). I guess my point is it should be hard to find good music.
For those who want my tab, here's the link: mediafire com/?z3bjc5ewx6umed5 Copy and paste that into your address bar, just make sure to put a period between "mediafire" and "com" otherwise the link won't work. Hope you find it useful!
hmm. Pretentious. Derived from the latin praetensus meaning "false or hypocritical profession". Out of the two modern meanings (OED), I assume you are attempting to convey Ostentatiousness rather than an unmerited claim to importance. The music is utterly delectable. My comment; frivolous.
saying this means that you don't have a clue what he did here and that you have no musical knowledge at all, you don't know the scales he's using, you don't understand this kind of oddly rhythm, your opinion is not valid
I'm not sure that that's the sound of him picking harder. I think the archtop guitar he's playing doesn't have the same level of volume that we're used to hearing out of an acoustic guitar, so the sound of plucking the string stands out more.
@@Fezzterify Something else that I've noticed is that he is holding the pick between the side of his index finger and his thumb rather than the tips of both. I think this gives it a thicker sound.
lo más increíble es que vos pensás que cada parte que toca es como el punto álgido del tema, pero no, cada parte que toca es mejor que la anterior. sublime.
Damn man, I just read on an interview on your Tumblr page that you haven't seen a cent for your work on 'There's no 666...' and that sucks dude. Kinda makes me a bit pissed I bought a copy...but I've been on your bandcamp page and I'm getting paid soon, I'll definitely be downloading your works. Just please tell me you at least get some of the money I'll be paying?? Oh, and also the guitar tabs on your page don't work properly, tho I'm sure that's been brought to your attention by now. =3
Inable to reach the center, always swiming towards it. Chamanic ninja techniques where requiered to right that wrong. And leave it just like it was. Free.
Carson, the tab's great, at least so far, I haven't even learned half of it yet, but I've incorporated lots of stuff from your videos in this channel, specially this song. Such a pity you didn't post the connecting runs though, i'm not asking you to tab them, but could you at least
Thank for the amazing trip. Fuck. That was special. Feeling deep conexion with this. Also thanks for showing me such a wildly free-way to express yourself thru music (specially thru the way you play guitar). I learn a lot watching this since I follow a not very different way of playing guitar. Just I guess I´m not allowed to get so far, so good...
This is honestly one of the best pieces of music ever produced on a single guitar. I’ve played for years and now I’m older and married but man, I sometimes wish I had taken a route to become as disciplined and dedicated as Carson because this is next level stuff- definitely doesn’t get enough credit for how incredible it is.
Still one of the most beautiful compositions I've ever heard. I've been listening to this for probably 12 years now
I find myself coming back to this video every so often. Thanks for keeping this video up. It's a truly nice song that has aged really well considering it's been a decade already...
hell yeah! me too.
Same
For sure!! I just was thinking one day this could just be lost. I want to archive it.
Same here
been coming here for years, don't think I'll ever stop
Man...this dude needs to make a solo album. I've listened to this atleast 50x
He has an album with this song on it. Check out his bandcamp!
6:45 has to be one of my favorite sections in this song. so awesome!
how many thousand times has he played this alone?
Man this guy never gets boring, it almost feels like meditation through guitar. Love the take away show feel also.
Apparently this song is called Watchers, pretty cool :)
Loving the way this sounds, first time hearing this now.
Absolutely mindblowingly amazing. This is completely, I don't even know. Just so incredible. You are one of my new favorite musicians. Beautiful.
Humility, metaphysical treasure.
Wisdom, you that drain me with your grief waters.

Song is called Watchers, it's on his album SNDLPVN.
This video always brings me peace.
I can't help but to watch this everytime I'm bored.
back again, it's like fine wine
Thanks a lot dude, i REALLY hope you're actually carson cause we would love to talk more bout music with you
cheers!
Wow, blown away, really quite good.

The most talented guitarist around, and he's homeless. There's no fucking justice in this world.
He chooses to be. Justice does not serve the talented, his talent comes from his isolation.
He's homeless?

I really dig this.
To hear a good example of this technique on bass, check out his work with Hella on "There's No 666 In Outer Space" song/album.
I don't normally say stuff like this about music, but something about his playing has a sense of violence to it
Am I the only one getting that?
it might be because he is plucking the strings much harder then most people do, something i usually get yelled at for lol
