    This was one of those episodes wherein you can tell that the panelists were having a great time. It was also an episode with one of the worst bluff answers ever given by a contestant: "Where is the University of Minnesota located?" Answer: "Michigan."

    As the saying goes, 3rd times the charm. This was a great idea of the producers to create such a program. It was just a feel good show that had me smiling ear to ear at the conclusion. Mr. Richardson had the best personality and outlook on life. No wonder the Little League was built up and prospered into what it is today.

    Mr. Richardson was outstanding. It could not have been easy to have to learn enough to be an im[postor in not just 1 game but 2. He was also a very funny man.

    Orson was hilarious. When the contestant had said Michigan, after the voting, Orson said he could understand why a politician wouldn't know about Chicago. LOL LOL

    This one's a classic. I got it right the 3rd time! Gotta love how #3 played an 11 year old girl, the mayor of Duluth, and said the U. of Minnesota is in Michigan

      Yes, but they're goal to to convince the panel they are the one, not convince them they aren't. However Orson Bean voted for him anyway

    Winston tastes good like a cigarette should.
    No...its AS a cigarette should.
    I remember those TV ads.

      I remember them too. It was like, not as a cigarette should!
      Strange that an ad from the 1950s would be remembered anti smoking crusaders- I'm just commenting on the effectiveness of the ad, not suggesting anyone run out and buy Winstons!

    Oh my God, this one was a hoot! I was waiting for one of the panel to disqualify him or herself in game three because they "knew" contestant #3!!! So neat....

    FYI The plural of "mongoose" is "mongooses" (and a non standard plural, which though incorrect is occasionally used, is mongeese. Mongoose comes from the word Mungus (second "u" pronounced "oo") which emanates from western India. The word became anglicised over the centuries and the "gus" in the word was replaced with "goose."

      I read that Carl retired from the league because he was against the federal charter by the government in 1964, making it a government organization.

      Perhaps nowadays that is he case. But when I was a kid, (1960s) 13-15 year olds did indeed play in the Babe Ruth League. I was one of them.

    • @rmelin13231
      @rmelin13231 11 месяцев назад

      It depends on (1) area of the country, and (2) when organized. In the early-mid 1960s in New England it was called the Babe Ruth League. Pony League was a completely different animal (baseball, softball, and all ages of youngsters).

    They should have taken Orson Bean and shipped him to Afghanistan. He is not funny and contributes nothing of substance.
