How to change your ADT door lock batteries. FREE!!

FYI...ADT has updated the door lock to prevent the removal of the protective shield. In order to replace the batteries now, you will need to remove 3 screws (1 left, 1 right, 1 bottom) and you can access the battery compartment as shown in the video by removing the entire door lock cover. Hope this helps for the new customers.

Unfortunately, I had already taken the original video at face value and struggled trying to get the protective cover off my door lock, nearly breaking it in the process! But I stopped ahort of that and decided to try removing the screws on both sides of the lock instead.
After removing the front casing I discovered the single screw that prevented me from removing the protective plate! I'm still shocked that I didn't crack or break anything!
With the device open, I went ahead and replaced the batteries as demonstrated in the original video, then instead of putting that 3rd screw back in, I decided to leave it out so that I can access the battery compartment in the way the original video described.
Future-proofed this task for next time. Life is good. 😏
