It is nice to see that even after all this time, people still have passion for bm2 and enjoy what it brings to the table. As a long time player and community member ((I have been playing since the assailant beta in 2019💀)) it is genuinely nice to see, even if I don't personally play the game any more
Now I need you to play BM1, not even just for the keystrokes, but because of the charm of the game being a hellhole of balancing, and that makes it fun as hell
As someone who has been playing bm2 for over 5 years, it's interesting to see a casual perspective from someone who is still new to the game but also analyzes the game as much as possible. I really wouldn't say that bm2 is very complicated, but rather just as simple as a traditional fighter that is a little hard to get into in Roblox. I've talked to many others that believe that the game is complicated and should be a lot simpler (and personally I think that's dumb). However, you're one of the only newer players that embraces the difficulty and integrity of the game's design rather than needlessly complaining about the difference in simpler game design. Needless to say, I hope that you can continuously improve playing the game.
I'm not even half way through this video and listening to this guy do what I assume is a decent job explaining the controls is giving me a migraine. why are there like 5 different dashes and blocks what is the point??? why are the keybinds so bad???? X to attack, V to dash, B to block???? Genuinely why??? These are some of the worst keybinds/controls I have seen in a game ever and it is so needlessly complicated and convoluted for no reason whatsoever. I suppose if it was anything different, couldn't call it a black magic game, it is just like its predecessor.
@@theoreticalexistence9630 The game is not really THAT hard to learn. You're exaggerating the general mechanics of the game because every other traditional fighting game such as Street Fighter has this level of technicality anyways. Street Fighter 6 shows the problem doesn't lie within how technical the game is (other game genres can be convoluted as well), it's more lenient towards accessibility, which is why SF6 is such a popular fighting game that is greatly recommended. Within BM2's standpoint, the tutorial doesn't give that much perspective on how it is intended to use these mechanics, rather only showing how they work respectively. The reason why BM2 seems so technical in the first place is because it is inspired by many anime traditional fighting games such as Blazblue and Under Night. The only thing I can agree with you is that they don't provide you an option to change controls within the tutorial like in main game. Otherwise, the game can get used to within a week or so. The game doesn't hold and follow that much from battleground games (the game was released in 2017 anyways). Please don't expect very simple gameplay such as those games, it's merely something that happens in every fighting game anyways. Also [ and ] for M1 and M2 buttons for keybind configs.
@@Flametric When I say its unnecessarily complicated and convoluted, I'm talking about stuff like there being 4 or 5 different dash variants that each have their own key combination when any other game would pull off all of them and then some with one key and where you're aiming at that moment depending of if you're in the air or not. Those old styled fighting games had a good reason to be as obnoxiously complicated as they were, that's because there simply were not enough buttons on a controller to make the systems work any other way. With a mouse and keyboard, that hasn't been an issue for a very long time, so its weird seeing those limitations carry into a game that does not need them.
@@theoreticalexistence9630 Dash in general requires you to press V or the dash keybind that you config'd. It's one button that lets you move in several ways. Some other games outside of fighting games do this. If you're also talking about controller limitations, BM2 is designed around a keyboard. You can play without lock on and still pop off

I'm a big fan of Black Magic 2, even though I don't play it anymore. In around 2017-2018, I played the first and original Black Magic on the occasion, and it was really fun, I was about 9-10 at this time. Though, I heard the game was getting shut down, and I haven't heard about Black Magic since. In February 2019, I was surprised to see that there was a sequel, Black Magic 2. I hopped right in without hesitation, Assailant was the only class and there were only 2 selectable skins for Assailant. The only thing I knew how do was SP1-SP8. I kept losing and losing over and over again so I left, and didn't start playing again until June-July, where I finally found out you can use Q, E, Z, X, C, B, etc. Though I started out being bad, this was the only game I played that really had a cinematic cutscene to their moves. I did indeed keep getting beat, but that lead to me getting better and better overtime, and I was in absolute shock to realize that there were other people using different classes. These were testers for a new update, 3 new classes. I encountered virtue first, and I asked a shit ton of questions, they told me they were a tester and my 10-year-old brain was wondering how the hell you become a tester. My obsession with becoming a tester got so bad, that staff actually joined and kicked me from the game. I still remember the exact day Avalon, Virtue, and Kurai got released, August I believe. I couldn't contain my excitement, so I tested each and every one of those classes. And I did NOT get bored of the game, even though the next wave of classes didn't release until March of 2020, I was upset when enforcer was canceled, which I was the most excited for. I started playing less when things changed, the dashing, the blocking, class nerfs. Black Magic 2 slowly started to become uninteresting during the UI change. I still played on the occasion, but I really didn't play as much as I used to, and the lack of updates got to me, I hung up my Black Magic playing cape and started focusing on other things. It wasn't until 2022 where I finally joined the discord (I was already old enough to join at this point), where I would receive updates but not really talk in the server. And it wasn't until October 2022, when a highly big and anticipated update came, virtue rework. This was so jaw-dropping because I wasn't sure if there was going to be any update, so I joined, and it was... It was meh. I mean yeah, virtue got some more moves, and current ones were refined. But it just felt.. meh. It wasn't long after until I stopped playing. Until July 2023, where there was FINALLY a new class So I joined up, and this was really great to ease my mind since 3 of my family members just got into a car crash (They all survived, don't worry) And honestly, Secare was pretty awesome, it had long ass combos and it's damage was good. It reminded me of Assailant. So I'd play for a good while, and I still occasionally play from time to time. And soon, "2.5" classes will release sometime this year (I hope this year). And a long-awaited Avalon rework will release? Avalon was already one of my favorite classes before, but to have it reworked now fills me with excitement, and not to mention 2 new classes that are looking pretty awesome. I can say that I will indeed join, but after a month or two, I'll probably play less and less, mainly due to the combat system change that really made me lose interest.
