New series unlocked!! 🔓🫶🏼 Welcome to Sew Let's Get Crafty where we make cute things 🥰
I'm so happy with how all of these projects turned out, especially the dress (even with all the strife hahahaha). I think it's still my favorite project from this video :)
Let me know in the comments what your favorite piece is! I hope you have a beautiful day 🧡🧡🧡
Jessi l started a RUclips channel 6months now, how do l grow and gain consistent followers. I make lifestyle vlogs
A few tips for stretch fabrics someone might have already suggested: 1) Use a ballpoint needle, it helps it from skipping stitches by moving the fibers to the side instead of piercing them like a sharp. 2) Mess with tension on scrap pieces , different weights and types of fabric need different thread tension to sew properly
Been sewing over 30 yrs. Glad u kept going and didn't give up. Self taught, I'm still learning everyday. One tip, make sure needle is correct for fabric and thread is correct (polyester etc) Looking forward to more videos.
Sewing questions answered:
1. You need a jersey needle and stretchy thread meant for knits. OR a serger...so much easier
2. Never, never use your fabric scissors/rotary cutter to cut paper!
3. Always tape your patterns together before cutting (you can nip the diagonal corners to match up lines.
4. A walking foot will help with knit fabrics if using a sewing machine.
5. Stitch length should be increased (no matter straight or zig-zag).
Had my eyes on this dress tutorial for ages! after seeing you do it I have to try it myself!!😍
For the pattern, definitely tape it all before you cut...or just get it printed big at a copy shop because taping them is so tedious!
Love this tip!! Definitely will be going to a copy shop for my next project 😅
My favourite sewing advice is French seams. And pin tucks for additional detail. You got this girl! Love your sewing enthusiasm❤🎉
Ooooh YES. I have a few pieces in my closet that have French seams and I absolutely love that detail.
But thank you so much for your kind words!! I've been having such a wonderful time learning sooo much with every project 🥰 excited to film my next sewing video!!
Have to say, that dress looks absolutely beautiful on you!
Jess you did such a great job on the dress, it’s definitely my favorite!! Might have to grab that pattern for my self…
Regarding the bias tape in the sweetheart neckline, yeah that’s a toughie 😅 Thoughtful Creativity has a good video called How to Finish Necklines, check around the 8 minute mark for exposed bias tape finishings.
I’m not sure where I learned this (maybe quilting strategies?) but when sew along one of the “side” folds of the bias tape on the inside of the dress, you could pinch the tape in the crook of the V of the neckline. Then fold the tape over back to the front, also pinching a V of the tape on the inside of the tape, and top stitch then. That way you can get the B of the sweetheart fitted, totally enclosed in the bias tape, and more control over your top stitching!
I think Thoughtful Creativity also has a video about finishing V necks, which would narrowly apply to the V of the sweetheart neckline. Regardless, good luck and happy sewing!! ❤
the dress came out so nice!
I love the video I just have learned over the years if you cut paper with fabric scissors or a rotary cutter used for fabric it will dull the blades and won’t cut fabric as well. I have certain scissors that I use for paper (pattern etc.) and then my rotary cutter and fabric scissors used for fabric. Hope this helps ❤❤
Thank you!! 🧡 Ooh this is so good to know!! I wonder if there's a way to resharpen the blades, like with kitchen knives 🤔
@@JessicaNeistadtnope, not really. (25+ yr seamstress here). You just have to buy new rotary blades or scissors
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! So talented jess 🥲❤️
Omg tell me why I'm literally watching your newest video right now too and I just saw your notification pop up on my phone 😂🫶🏼 But ahhh thank you!!! 🥹
I admire your patience a I've tried to learn how to sew and my grandma was getting frustrated lol I love how your projects turned out!
Thank you hahaha it's definitely been a process and a patience builder as I've been learning how to sew 😅 but I feel like every time I work on something, I learn so much and then it makes the next thing a little bit easier which is some nice motivation 😊
My favourite is the tube top ! So easy yet has this elevated look (Btw I just found your channel and I’ve been binge watching all afternoon 🤩 )
It's already fall! This is already your season Jessica! Looking forward to it! 😍
That black and white dress!!!! It looks gorgeous on you!!
love everything u did and your energy is so cool! btw my mom taught me to slightly pull on the threads when i'm starting the stitch to avoid them intertwining 🍀
thank you so much!! ☺️ and ooh, that's a good tip, definitely implementing next time!! 🧵
Gorgeous ❤. Find satin bias tape it is so much better than cotton. I've only just found it and it has elevated my outfits
I've been wanting to use my fabric scraps on a plain tee, so this was a great inspiration! 😍
Oooh yes!! It's the perfect little DIY! ✂️
Also, you just inspired me to do a future episode specifically on projects using fabric scraps 😍
@@JessicaNeistadt looking forward! 😍
@@JessicaNeistadt Everyone has their own definitions of what size scraps are. I've made scrunchies, bookmarks, coasters, rice packs, a some quilt tops out of quilting cotton and flannel scraps
A Tipp for everyone using biased tape with stretchy fabric, make sure you use stretchy biased tape its lifechanging!
Put a cute tiny bow in the middle of the neckline on the dress! It would look so cute
I think this is my favorite video you’ve ever made ❤ and everything you sewed turned out so good! More in this series, please! 😊
Omg thank you so much, that's so lovely of you to share 🥲🧡
I'm so excited for future episodes of this series!!
New to the channel and honestly clicked the vid by accident after struggling to wake up from a terrible dream. Also am a filipino so the "ano ba yaaaan" woke me up 😂
LOVE! Omg that dress 😍 I’m about to go get that pattern and try it for myself too 😅
Omg yessss!!!! Love that 🤩 I linked the pattern in the description in case you need it, but happy sewing!! 🧵🪡
Wow so so beautiful all
Thank you!!!
Wow, great job on both!
Looove the dress!! It looks really amazing on you!
I admire your patience with the dress and the thread issues, I need to practice to be more patient as well 😂 but everything was so amazing I loved it Jess, you looked gorgeous ❤🎉😊I think I’m gonna start with the shirt though 😅
Hahaha thank you so much!! 🥰 sewing, especially at the beginning, can for sure take a lot of patience 😂 but the end result is seriously so worth it
Excited for you to make the tee!! That one is a nice easy DIY to do 🧵🧡
So cute!
Thank you!! 🥰
I absolutely LOVE that dress!!❤
Ahhh thank you!!! 🥹
Love the little black dress
The pieces are SO cute and the video was so fun to watch!
Well I'm in love!
You are too sweet, thank you!! 💖
I loved this video!! Please continue the series!! xx
The dress is so cute!!!!!
The "Ano ba yaaaan?" just sent me 😂😂😂
You look gorgeous in that dress! 😍✨👌
I love this format❤
Love your energy
So this is what all those restaurant chefs meant when they said they couldn’t watch The Bear because it’s so traumatizingly accurate
Love the dress! I also have a larger bust what are your bra suggestions for strappy dresses/tanks etc??!
Get a Babylock Victory serger. You will be in heaven. I tried a different less expensive one and hated it.
Haven’t finish the video but when the zigzag didn’t work did you make sure you used a super stretch needle on your machine ? Cause that could be one of the reasons
Great job Jess ❤
It’s lovely 😊
Love the projects… will be trying the t shirt ; I am interested in the fabric used can you say what exactly is was .. I would have to purchase online so hard to tell
loved the goose story it was hilarious 😂 also pretty iconic that you have a goose sticker or it might be duck I can't tell 😂 but the dress looks soo good on you!! 😍
Start every sewing project with a new needle and a full bobbin.
Ano ba yaaaaan? :D Love the dress, Jess!
Love all ❤ so cute
good idea sister
That Hakuna Matata was in Dutch!
Every rotary cut had me wonder why not cut along a 📏 ruler? Lol
10:20 I just made a reaction/green screen short with a couple more reasons why your thread might have been breaking. I hope you find it helpful 💛 Thread breaking randomly is the WORST-even worse than when the bobbin runs out 😅
I think your thread broke because of the tension. You can also sew with stabilizer underneath the fabric. But good quality thread for thicker material does make a difference.
Thank you for sharing these tips! 🫶🏼
@@JessicaNeistadt your welcome . The dress looks amazing on you !
Love your videos 😁 I would love to make the red bag you made. 19:33 19:33 Didn't you make a video about that bag? I can't find it. Can you send me a link? Thank you "sew" much 😊 Laila (living in Denmark)
Fusible interfacing (next time...)😂
What was wrong with the thread in the beginning? I have that problem as well. Is it possibly the tension?
It could be new thread or new needle.
Let's go
🪡🧵✨
Hi sometimes getting a new needle also helps if your thread keeps breaking 🙂 you’re supposed to use a new needle on each project 😳
Not the “ano ba yan” 😂
Where is the pattern from?
It's from Etsy! I have it linked in the description :)
4:54 ANO BA YAN??
12:33 MAARTE NAMAN
how to unhear 🙉 HAHAHA proud Filipina 🇵🇭
I thought for bias tape you’re supposed to sew one side and then fold over and sew again?
I was screaming on the inside watching you use your rotary cutter on paper! that will blunt it in no time :(
I had no idea until everyone shared this comment section!! I will definitely be avoiding doing this in the future 😅
14:45 its Dutch but the accent and pronunciation sounds like the Flemish version
So interesting, I had no idea!
It's hakuna matata in flemish haha
Did you change your Needle you need a q
