- How To Wire a US Shift Controller for your 4R70W Episode 443 Autorestomod
We cover the best way to wire a US Shift 4R70W controller. We choose to wire it under the seat due to a lack of space in the dash. We show how we have wired the AOD OFF light and where to mount the AOD OFF switches on the dash. We also discuss why we use crimp connectors as opposed to soldering all of our connections. We show how to pin out a Deutsch connector.

I'm also doing 4r70w conversion in a 75 Gran Torino Sport 351 W .And using US shift.
Love the 351C powered wagon! I'm really liking this channel ALOT! Also want a 351C w/4R70W in my 1978 Fairmont. Thank you for the tech!
This is the kind of ridiculous detail level I love !!!! This is very helpful, to get the kind of understanding, needed to be confident to take on this type of job..... Keep it up guys.....!!!!
Thanks!
I have an AOD in my 65 Fastback. I am going to change it to the 4R70W first chance I get. Great video set.
Cool! We researched it and the 4R70W is a sweet platform.
I did the same with my 65 i went from 4 speed to AOD then to a 4R70W
This is getting GOOD!
Starting to look like something I want to do. 😊
And I'm not saying ANYTHING about the 3M Tape Looms... I've done that for YEARS. I do put a Plastic Loom over that, just for appearances. 😉
Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Right on!
Thx for doing the connector.
Love this video, I am soon to purchase and install one on my 96 f150, thank you guys.
You are welcome!
interesting with the ground wires...idk if it matters but i have a quick 2 to be paired with an e4od and the instructions say to splice them into the main ecu ground as close to the ecu as possible. (using a sniper )
Why is it when the heavy duty works starts Jeff disappears?? We see you Cam!!! We got you bruh!!! 😂
You should come and try to wrangle this cat herd. Not for the faint of heart!
Autorestomod Manic Mechanic Gasoline Media oh I’m sure, I was just busting your berries
dang that's a lot of wiring!
Im a loom guy......but whatever works!
I'd be more than happy to come and loom the whole thing....
all Id want is a large supreme pizza, a liter of Royal Crown Cola and a promise of a Starliner rebuild next season
I was on it until the end. 😂😂😂
I have the 4R70W in my 65 Mustang and have the controller in my glovebox. Can you provide information on a external gear indicator?
I will look into it.
For the yellow wire(rpm signal) did y’all put a resistor in it or is it just straight to the coil
I thank your video is great specially for a new guy like myself I didn't have a clue about the were the connection went before watching your video now I have some what of an idea is appears that all three connection SOLENOIDS, PRNDL, TSS connection from the controller to the transmission is complete just plug them in to the transmission the ones for the vehicle needs to be hard wired to the battery E.T.C.do I appear to be on the right track?
Looks to be. Just follow the instructions and you should be good to go. We are only here for a back up (I'm a visual thinker).
Great series on this! Maybe I missed one, what’d you guys do for the speedometer?
Coming soon!
Is a cool conversion yall doing
Thanks! I'd been dreading it because there was zero info on the Fairlane.
i think i would solder those too?
I'm swapping in a 4R70w in my 84 F150, how did you tie into reverse lights wire and neutral safety wires. Thanks
Ours are on the column mounted neutral safety switch.
In this video, you're mounting a 4R70W to a small block. I thought this transmission only bolted to a modular engine?
They were used on the Trucks and the Exploers with the 5.0 small block.
@@AutoRestoMod OK, so it's still called a 4R70W whether it's on a small block or a modular engine.
Guy Caissie yes, even if the trans is behind a small block Chevy, it’s still a 4r70w. What I think you’re saying is what years can you find this trans? You can find them in 2000-2004 Mustangs. Ford used the same small block bolt pattern for years....saves lots of money if you only have two different bolt patterns.
skipped the 4 wires 12 start run 12 ign run 12 start relay last is back up lamp but those 3 white 12v wires are a pain, 12 start/run 12 ign run dont seem different but they are very, then other computers say 12v on and crank
😁👍
He said "Dykes" twice in a row and bet money he giggled every time the camera turned off, lol.
Not P.C. should call them side cutters
@@jeff95519 Why change language to suit a group of people?
It’s 2021 that’s very offensive
I'm a solder and shrink tube kind of guy..but I'm a wiring snob...pay me no mind.
Ford Cleveland it has its place. Depends on the application
Yes, I too, giggled when Cam said, "dikes"....
So sue me.....
My brain doesn't work as well as some peoples, sorry.

I’m the first viewer :)
Marks of Distinction I’m on my lunch break when the videos drop so many times I get dibs on that spot. 😂
Well, TECHNICALLY I'm the first viewer...LOL
