- US Shift Quick 4 Controller on a 4R70W Installation and Overview Episode 442 Autorestomod
This week we look over the excellent shift controller from US Shift. We look at the Quick 2 the Quick 4 and even the Quick 6. We also show an alternative mounting position to the typical glove box mount. We show how to de-pin the wiring to make passing it through the hole in the floor easier.

Love the stuff I'm learning from ya. Opens up the possibilites in my build I'm planning.
Just ordered the quick shift 2 and was wondering if I should have gone to the 4. Glad I watched the video and happy with my decision
Watching the 'out takes" at the end of this video, reminds me of the Burt Reynolds/Dom Deluise movies. Where they would show the bloopers at the end of the movie.
You hit the nail right on the head my friend.
Jeff I'm not really sure which one of you guys is Burt and which one is Dom.
I like Cam's use of the blue tape.
Let's see the Caterpillar Plug!
Now HERE'S the part where this Old Dawg is learning some new tricks!! 👍👍😎
My newest Car ever was a 98 Mustang GT... I didn't even know that there was any standalone options to make a 4R70W actually WORK!
Gives me ideas.... Like a 4R70W in a Foxbody!! 😁
This is great stuff Guys! 👊👍👍💯

Our go to is US Shift.
Getting ready to do the same 4r70w install in my 69' Fairlane Convertible. Using Quick 4 as well along with a Lokar electronic shifter that has bump shift :). Love your videos! LET'S SEE THAT CATERPILLAR PLUG!! Thanks Guys!
Hey man no idea if your active but I'm planning on doing the same thing but on a factory five cobra. How did it work out for you any recommendations?
This is awesome !!!! Working my thru them all......! Great stuff guys.....!!!!!
We appreciate that!
Would love to but this set up in my 78 f100. I have the 3 speed C6 with 3:55 gear. RPM are little high at 55mph
Interesting video. I would like to see the plug installation.
Plug, plug, plug, plug.
Great video, thanks guys!!!
Next episode: plug, drill, drill plug...
I have drilled through carpet and came away with a large carpet hair-ball. Now I use a sharp razor blade or a Barlow.
Another effective way to cut a hole in carpet is with a soldering iron. The iron will neatly melt the carpet versus pulling the cords like you’d do by unraveling grandma’s Xmas sweater.
Awesome Video!
Best I can tell by what you've said a 2 would be like old style hydraulic control, one map. One the 2, can you define your own map?
The 2 does not allow for what US shift calls Flex Shift. So the US shift to you are stuck with the stock parameters for the 4R70W or similar electronic GM transmissions.
Great info!
Jeff I'm a fairly new viewer, love the channel. My only issue is you guys need to work on your background a piece of plywood is not working....
Well, its the walls in the shop...so...
@@AutoRestoMod make it look better, its plywood....
Let’s see the plug go in
I guess I never noticed before, but Isn't that a 68 steering wheel pad in a 69? Lets see the plug install btw
Yes, the original steering wheel was pretty trash. So Steve the owner I bought it from put the 68 wheel in there. it also has A 1968 plated pot metal AC panel as well. Steve didn't like the wood grain for 69.
Let's see the cat plug installed
super useful video for simpleton like myself. I swapped out my old aod for a 4r70w in my 65 mustang, still deciding where to drill the holes. What the heck are those transmissions wiring retainers called? having a hard time locating those or proper name. Did you guys go with Mercon V or something like Dex 6 Synthetic Fluid.
We're going with Mercon V. They are just clamps we got at the home improvement center. Nothing special.
I am looking something like this For 1997 grand Cherokee 5.2 L engine 4×4 42RE transmisión
So can you use it with a 4r70w that had a shift kit installed ? Will it make a difference?
Maybe I missed it, but why did you go through the carpet? Will the console or something be hiding the wires exposed above the carpet?
The seat will be covering it all up.
Can you use it on a carb setup
For sure. will need a throttle position sensor. Holley has one for their carbs (and I think Edelbrock too)
Is it possible to buy these to work o a 5 speed gm transmission for a e46
I would give the guys at US shift a call they are updating things all the time.
Can this be used for a carbed setup
Yes that's what we did with our 69 Fairlane.
Please stop saying Npd is in Los Angeles ca, they are not, Oxnard ca., Ventura county.
Do they make a 4 R 70 w to fit a 5.0
Yep.
I've no idea what vehicle or what year vehicle and transmission, this all goes in. I used to work on Fords and many other 1950's, 1960's into the 70' and I have a 1984 Ford E150, and never saw any such things on them. I also have a 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager, I sure wish somebody would invent NEW shift packs and TCM's for that don't go into Limp Mode. LOL
So just what is it, you are working on there???
1969 Fairlane with a newer 1996 4R70W automatic. And the ancillary harness and stuff from u.s. shift.
@@AutoRestoMod Ok, thanks. Now that makes a lot more sense to me now. What engine is in that, too?
Laurel and Hardy?
Abott and Costello?
Theses guys are dorks
You misspelled cool.
