- Rebuild a vintage Sony Infolithium battery pack for the Sony Mavica! EDIT: the actual model number for the replacement cells is 14500, NOT 14550 as I say in the voice-over. Some sellers online still call these 14550 cells for some reason, keep this in mind when looking for cells.
A safe way to rebuild an Infolithium battery pack, and recharge the cells with a smart charger - less chance of damage to the battery or the camera.
This is literally the perfect video I've been looking for. I'm just buying a Mavica with a broken battery, you're saving me!
Enjoy the Mavica, they are a lot of fun!
Way to go reviving this unique piece of camera history. Amazing how far we've come in that a single photo from my smart phone would exceed the capacity of the floppy disk; my mirrorless camera even more so. Yet the battery size/technology hasn't changed so much in that this repair takes a bit of courage but simple parks and basic maker skills. Great video and great service to the community.
You can buy a replacement battery from Duracell
I did, works well no issues
how do you transfer the photos? I just bough two sony mavicas and I can't wait to try it out! also can't wait to try this hack out lol
Good score! You need a USB 3 1/2" disk drive, like this one - amzn.to/3FLFdKY in Canada or this one - amzn.to/3StgwdN if you are in the US. I haven't tried connecting mine to a phone, I upload the photos to my laptop.
great video!
Thanks!
I want to do this with my Mavica. Where did you get the 14550 Cells?
Having a hard time time to track this replacement battery pack down.
I did too, that's why I had to build this one, LOL! - the 14550 cells are usually available on Ebay and Aliexpress, but they are getting harder to find.
I’ve searched both sites, found nothing. Search continues
@@byronkutchera9953 Try a 14500, it should still fit in the AA holder EDIT - did some digging and yep, they are the same size.
@@byronkutchera9953 I changed the video description to specify 14500 cells - there are still a bunch of sellers on alibaba and elsewhere calling these 14550s for some reason, but the proper designation is actually 14500. Thanks for bringing this to light, I'll see if I can edit the video to correct that voice-over.
