Orwell never intended on it to be fully fiction.... He was very brilliant when it came to connecting the dots and showing where certain paths lead. Even he gave plenty of warning yet everyone was too fat and happy to care...
Animal Farm is excellent and introductory reading (to continue with 1984). It is only about 100 pages but points at many phenomena and parallels that one can find in many political contexts today - not only in open dictatorships but also sadly in corrupt contexts in the western "democratic" countries. When reading Animal Farm it is important to understand that each animal represents people or authorities with different functions: The largest pig is Stalin, the loyal horse represents the working class (a tragic fate as it becomes old and dies), the dogs are the KBG, the rabbits the kind, positive naive "general public" who/which don't understand what is going on... The animals are distinct from humans but at the end of the book (at some party dinner or something like that) the pigs and humans can't be distinguished. I read Animal Farm around 1970 so please correct this if you see some of these details as different but it was something like what I described here. Both Animal Farm and 1984 are great readings to get an introduction to the semantic "games" and gaslighting many politicians and others (including psychiatric Cluster B individuals) use today in order to manipulate, for deception and to blame others for what they themselves are doing/causing etc. These books will open the eyes for many and the topics covered will probably, and sadly, never get old.

If the individual uses the word “Orwellian” to define totalitarian regimes then that case in itself is Orwellian. In other case if the individual uses “Orwellian” to describe the control of language and logical thought process, then he/she is right. Learnt from Ted-ed.
Well, Orwell sure cannot be contained in a video of a few minutes! His thoughts on language, on sports/politics, on colonialism, on the Spanish Civil War led disillusionment with the so-called Liberal/Left ideology need more space/footage for sure!
They said it's because he worked at a library and he noticed that authors who started with O and letters in that part of the alphabet would get more attention than the ones whose last names began with the first letters of the alphabet.
Well, this is an unusually Conservative - I would even say anachronistic - take on Orwell. Especially calling his work as an Imperial Police Officer „taking on responsibility for 200,000 people in Burma“ can be called reactionary, as it applauds Colonialism. Yet, together with the „Deutsche Wochenschau“-voice, it displays the charms of the 1940s and makes it a remarkable video, though I‘m not sure if it‘s meant to be satirical or serious. 😂
I like this, no bullshit, just pure quality content.
1984 is no longer fiction.
I agree. Orwell hit it on the nail with 1984. He placed the wrong year on the title
"2020"
It should say
Nope, I published one of my favorite albums back in '84.
IT Never really was fiction.

I put tape on my laptop camera Orwell would be proud.

The music made me stop listening shortly after it began
Fantastic; well-organized; clear.
really informative, fully understand his brief history and his work. Thanks for the good video
Okay, so this just leaves out him getting shot in the neck while volunteering with the POUM in the Spanish Civil War?
That was an important event in his life, but it did not directly contribute to his writings and their impact on the modern world much at all.

The music fits with the life of Winston Smith.

Aw man, that world in "1984" sounds like a dream-come-true! War is Peace! Freedom is Slavery! Ignorance is Strength! Amen, Comrade!
That's great. Thanks.
What’s the song name?
so interesting
What's with the creepy music.....

I wonder why he chose to use a pseudonym.
A lot of the time it's because the name sounds better. Anonymity also has its benefits.
