This movie is Van Damme’s highest grossing film breaking the box office more than $100 million. You should definitely watch Bloodsport (1988), Kickboxer (1989), Double Impact (1991), Universal Soldier (1992), and Hard Target (1993). Also, the jumping spinning kick aka the helicopter kick that he does is his signature move. He does it in almost every one of his films.

Poobala calls that shared universe, "The Jean-Claude Van Damme is Dead Universe"! 😂😅 Why? Because if he is dead in that show, then he is also dead in the others! Any other roles he had since that episode was made, would have to have a different person! 😮

"Blood Sport" made Jean Claude van Damme a star, but I like the much lesser known "The Quest" which has the similar theme of an international martial arts tournament, but the variety of styles is more interestingly, and acting, though till cheesy, is noticeably better. Also, set in the 1920s, it has a retro vibe that I found appealing.

In case it's not obvious from this movie, Van Damme's 'signature moves' are his full-splits and roundhouse kicks. He's a very flexible guy, and accent notwisthstanding, has a lot of charm. He plays underdogs WAY more than invincible hardcases. Unlike some other action stars (cough Steven Seagal cough), he's also been willing to mock his own image - the movie 'JCVD' is a trippy but fun concept.

My all-time favourite *Jean-Claude Van Damme* movies, that I would recommend (in release order) are:
    *1.* _'Bloodsport'_ (1988).
    *2.* _'Kickboxer'_ (1989).
    *3.* _'Double Impact'_ (1991).
    *4.* _'Universal Soldier'_ (1992).
    *5.* _'Hard Target'_ (1993).
    *6.* _'Timecop'_ (1994) *- Already watched!*
    *7.* _'Street Fighter'_ (1994) *- Guilty pleasure!*
*8.* _'Universal Soldier: The Return'_ (1999) *- Guilty pleasure!*
    *9.* _'Universal Soldier: Regeneration'_ (2009).
*10.* _'Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning'_ (2012).
Anything of his that’s more recent, I’ve not seen. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Love, as always, from England (UK) 🥰❤️

After you've gotten a few more Van Damme movies under your belt, consider watching 2008's "JCVD" which got critical praise for his sharp parody of himself and for his frank heart to heart exposition about his real life and career.

Whenever i go out drinking with my friends i've known since the 90's, we will occasionally run into someone that looks like it could be one of us in the future or in the past...and we will always look at each other and laugh about whatever you do....DO NOT touch that person...so we don't turn into some sort of weird goo!! LOL!!
    Great reaction as always Jen!!

Back in the day those special effects were pretty cool. That was why this movie was such a blockbuster in the mid 1990s. Besides the plot and the action scenes gave it such a thrill we all expected from JCVD.

Yest! Van Damme. Great action man and a legend. He did so many movies where he plays two roles, as the main character and his twin (or something like that). Its so cheesy but fun.
Cant't wait till you check out the classics such a Bloodsport, Sudden Death or Street Fighter.

A Van Damme movie I'm sure you'd like, Jen, is "DOUBLE IMPACT" Van Damme plays twin brothers separated as infants but reunited as adults to save their father's legacy in Hong Kong.

Jean Claude doing the splits is his signature move in most of his movies, kind of like arnold's "I'll be back". If you watch any Jean claude movie, there's a good chance he'll do the splits.
