You misunderstood the "Star Wars" reference. From Wikipedia: "The Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), nicknamed the Star Wars program, was a proposed missile defense system intended to protect the United States from attack by ballistic strategic nuclear weapons (intercontinental ballistic missiles and submarine-launched ballistic missiles)." It was formed in 1984 and disbanded in 1993, a year before this movie was released. It's a reference that no longer makes any sense to people who weren't alive in the 80s-90s, but was totally understood at the time to be referring to the government program and not the movie.
Glad someone said it saved me time to explain.
They spoofed the Star Wars program in Spies Like Us…great comedy.
Here's another reason! They aren't Americans!
yeh exept, star wars the movie came out in '77 so basically us government ripped the fucking name off off the movie
@@dudebud007 🤦♂that was the point genius. Regan was referencing Star Wars on purpose.
Timecop is a hidden gem and I love it. It's such a fun movie experience and Jean-Claude Van Damme always kicks ass, plus who doesn't love some good old time travel.
Also, Universal Soldier (1992) with Dolph Lundgren is amazing.
"I just want to eat"
Don't forget about Lionheart and Double Impact!
@@CliffuckingBoothYeah these guys still have a lot of really good Van Damme movies to react to.
@@LenOliver-yz6os And some Arnold and Sly movies as well :) And what about Red Scorpion with Dolph? Another classic
This is one of Van Damme's best movies. Another really good one of his is 1993's "Nowhere to Run."
Criminally underrated!!!
Next, Universal Soldier 1992, then Hard Target 1993
Universal Soldier is an absolute beast of a movie.
Might toss Under Siege in there as well.
@@c1ph3rpunk He's naming Van Damme movies.
That splits on the two counters move is legendary. 😂
My favorite JCVD movie is still Hard Target though.
😂
I gotta shout out Lionheart, Kickboxer, Sudden Death and Universal Soldier though.
@@orangewarm1 love Universal Soldier. The first one anyway.
Double Impact
Yes, that scene always give me a special feeling...😊
Timecop is definitely one of my favorites and it’s crazy that the plot of the future took place in 2004 😂
now you have to watch Double Impact with Jean Claude Van Damme the character has a twin brother Claude plays both roles!!
Hard Target, Timecop and Sudden Death my Favorites Van Damme Movies and from the Director Peter Hyams is 2010, Timecop, Sudden Death, The Relic and End of Days my favorite movies from him. He also is the cameraman.
Peter unooooo
Hard target is amazing. I'd love to watch you guys watch it.
Have you seen Peter Hyams' 'Outland'? It's really good, basically 'High Noon' in space with Sean Connery, nice production design and Jerry Goldsmith score.
@@Thewingkongexchange oh damn you're right. I totally forgot about the movie. I had it on VHS for almost 20 years and bought it on Blu-ray a few years ago in 2.39:1 aspect ratio. I would also like to know what Peter Hyams' wife was up to that he always uses her last name Spota in his films but is usually exposed as a villain but also good people
One of the advertising slogans for the film was "Turn Back The Clock And You're History." So, good call on that one.
Actually Star Wars reference was a laser defense system against nukes in the 80s, named after the movies, proposed by Ronald Reagan.
There will never be another Vann Damme never! Growing up I was picked on he was one of the reasons I started working out! He was someone I looked up to! He’s corny but very talented!
Very underrated movie...I've always felt that this is an outstanding movie.
My second-favorite Van-Damme picture, besides *Hard Target* (1993).
+1 for Hard Target.
+2 for Hard Target
+3 for Hard Target
+4 for Hard Target
+5 after that I started importing John Woo films..lol I had heard of his movies a couple years prior..but this was the first one I actually got to see.
Hard Target. JCVD classic directed by John Woo. A must watch. 👊🏻
You guys know to have fun by making this reactions. Thanks for sharing this film. Also, another films from Jean Claude Van Damme that I would likely recommend are “Sudden Death” and “Hard Target”. Have a great day.
Hard Target, Sudden Death, Universal Soldier and Double Impact should be next ASAP
This is one of my favorite films as well guys since 94 as Street fighter now this villain senator Macomb in time cop to me is the ultimate villain from. Van Damme all films through all hands down no lie. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it I still love it until today the film. 🍿🥤🍫
Loved it! Thanks guys.
Guys if your doing Van Damme movies then you got to do movies like Cyborg or Double Impact where he plays twins, Lionheart was awesome and a version of Streetfighter taken seriously. Universal Soldier has Dolf Lundgren as the main bad guy or Hard Target which was John Woos first American film. Timecop does not show the Van Dammage that he truly is!!!
Lionheart was good, here in the UK it was called AWOL
2nd Double Impact just for the twins' watch.
Maximum Risk. & the jump-off bloodsport.
Universal Soldier is Van Damme’s best role, imo.
Based on a 3 part miniseries, "Time Cop: A Man Out of Time" from Dark Horse Comics (1992).
The first of two films in 1994 with Van Damme and the first of few collabs with dir. Peter Hyams (2010:The Year We Make Contact).
The idea of altering history, it being a crime in which you could be charged and convicted is a wild one.
The rules of time travel and history alteration in this universe seem a bit more believable too.
I liked the 'Max Walker' character for going through the worse in the beginning.
As time (literally) goes by, he learns all the reasons for the state of history and not just his own.
Taking on the villain McComb (the late Ron Silver) and in the process, Walker commits the crime of altering history.
But for him, it is about setting things right.
The plot, tone, pace, special effects, supporting characters, humor and the signature action of 'The Muscles from Brussels' made this a real winner.
On the bridge between being one of Van Damme's best and among the most underrated comic-based movies.
As well, it was the highest-grossing film of Van Damme's career.
It spawned a pretty cool franchise:1 Super NES video game, short-lived tv series, novel series and a second film (straight to video, 2003).
The TV series was pretty good but the H.G. Wells episode was kinda messed up I wish ABC kept it on.
Great reaction guys, Time Cop is still an absolute banger, filmed in Vancouver BC.
I love Timecop, I used to own this, along with another 250 or so on VHS in the 90's then sold them all when they started coming out on DVD, another great Jean Claude van Damme movie is Hard Target, if you guys haven't seen it before.
His best friend at the agency was D Day in Animal House.
It's amazing they didn't recognize him.
I'm early into the video and I've gotta mention, the star wars program is a real program, where they wanted to have a defence grid in orbit to protect against meteors, and of course, any incoming missiles. My guess is that's what the suit was referencing rather than the films. I could be wrong though.
You're not wrong.
This movie predicted widescreen televisions.
for me, it was Back to the Future Part II.
Marty Jr. had one.
My childhood 60s children show predicted the smartwatch, Zoom calls, Chernobyl disaster, the Challenger explosion, Gulf of Mexico fire, Paris Agreement, etc.
lol, I actually saw this in the theaters. Good fun. You should definitely watch Double Impact!
Somehow this movie slipped under my radar growing up, I'm a huge JCVD fan, but for some reason never saw this one until a few months ago, I can't believe I never saw this before because like you guys, it's right up my alley too.
By far my favorite Jean-Claude Van Damme movie. This one never gets old
One of my favorite Van Damme films and from one of my favorite directors, Peter Hyams.
"You walk like shit".. .you guy's are legends for that line. Sorry for paraphrasing.
Peter Hyams is a damn good action movie director. Some of them already recommended in the comments, such as "Sudden Death" (with JCVD as well), "End of Days" (with Arnold S) or "2010" (with Roy Scheider, from "Jaws"). I'd also suggest "Outland" (fantastic sci-fi with Sean Connery, you cannot miss that one), "Capricorn One" (conspiracy thriller with Elliot Gould, James Brolin -Josh's father-, OJ Simpson, Telly Savalas and a great cast), "Narrow Margin" (good thriller with Gene Hackman), or "The Relic" (monster thriller with Tom Sizemore and other top cast). Btw, Peter Hyams usually names a character in his movies after his wife's last name.
Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤
Love this movie and loved your reactions to it. I used to watch this movie with my friends over and over when I was much younger. I think the biggest and probably hardest/weirdest part for him would be coming home to a family that he has no memory of and a family that has 10 years of memories of a different version of him. One that may not be as jaded as he had become because of watching his wife die in the beginning and becoming the hard nosed detective that he did. He would, from his families perspective, have a sort of drastic personality change that his family would have to get used to because he has no memories of them. I always wanted them to cover that part in the movie, but they didn't. Still an amazing movie for its time.
I totally forgot how much I dig this film. Thanks for reminding me how cool it is.
Gonna have to make sure I have a hard copy of it.
This was one of the first films of my childhood where I got the chance to hone my VHS tape pausing skills to see bo*bies without getting one of the static bars covering them 😂 It takes real talent which every 90's kid has developed.
Hey gents, there was a defense program back in the 80s I believe that was called Star Wars. So he’s referring to it and not the film
Classic along with hard target, universal soldier, blood sport, lion heart, maximum risk...
21:05. Just recognized the bearded guy.
The guy that is playing Van Damme's boss (the one in the suit) was also in the movie Animal House. He played D-Day, he was the one that did that trick with his throat.
This is an underrated movie. It’s a hidden gem.
In my opinion, one of van dammes better roles. Intersti g concept
The Amazon show with him had several references to this movie man I wish it'd gotten a 2nd season
@8:07 Big bada boom! 😁
U guys should definitely watch Universal Soldier with Vann Damme and Dolph Lungeroun
4:43
I think you guys misunderstood the "Star Wars" reference. He wasn't referring to the Star Wars movies, he was referring to the Star Wars Defense Program that was initiated by Ronald Reagan, which was developed in an effort to take outside nuclear warheads if the US and Russia started WWIII
This is one of my 3 favorite JCVD movies, the others being Bloodsport and Double Impact.
Another great under rated Vann Damm movie is HARD TARGET!!!!!!
20:59 - 21:04 He was right about that for today's time, but in reverse.
Great Reaction Guys!!!! Spot on. Another one of my huge JCVD favourite movies. !!!!
Timecop was the OG popcorn flick. You knew it was dumb, you knew the action would be incredible, and you knew there'd be great one liners. Literally came out of nowhere, got insanely popular due to word of mouth. When it hit the dollar theaters we spent EVERY DAY WE COULD watching junk like this. Saw it opening night, just because I was hungry for scifi and the poster looked cool.
"Have a nICE day." 😁 JCVD and time travel. You can't go wrong. This is honestly just behind bloodsport for me. Fun time caper. It would feel right at home released today
One of my most favorite Van Damme movies ❤️ Gem
“Double Impact” is another great Van-Damme film. He plays twin brothers that are entirely different from one another due to being separated at birth. Y’all would love it!
It’s great watching you guys. Some more great van damme movies. Universal soldier, lionhart, double impact, blood sport, and these are just some of the great ones.
Check out "Nick of Time" with Johnny Depp... No time travel, but still quite good...
25:40 I've got a pair of boots just like that. UK Undergrounds with the metal plate.
You guys need to review Universal Soldier. Great movie
The late Ron Silver was such a great actor who really played the hell out of villains. Check out Blue Steel with Jamie Lee Curtis.
Hell yeah! This is one of my favorite time-travel movies!
I was hoping you reacted to this movie. I was just watching that last week
I'm so stoked to see you enjoyed this made to order Sci Fi Blast from the Past futuristic Action flick that I'm betting you'll also enjoy a film called Gattaca staring Ethan Hawke . If you're after a very cool take on the Billy the Kid story take a look at Young Guns I think it'll be right up your alley.
I saw one of those "bad haircut" henchmen at Walmart about 20 years back. A real sweet guy. He was looking for an animation DVD he voiced a character in to show his nephew or son. Unfortunately, he has since passed away.
If you want another cool time travel like movie, check out the 1999 movie called 'Frequency'
Holy shit my first jean Claude van damme film 😮😮😊.
lionheart , universal soldier , double impact , hard target great too
4:48 "How could you reference the wrong movie?!"
Didn't he say "Star Wars PROGRAM"...?
9:05 "Why are all these guys trying to fly?!"
Maybe you should read more history books, man. Who knows, you may like it. :)
Edit: entertaining reaction, otherwise. To an underrated Van Damme movie. Ron Silver was really an awesome actor, he plays one of my favorite villains of the 90's.
That’s harsh! Only old geezers like us know that because we lived it. It’s definitely not a historical reference that makes the Top 100 list in history books! It’s enough that I wanted a little history today from the comments, but not to be berated :-)
@@Houston727Gal Lived it? You were alive in 1929? :) All jokes aside, in my opinion, it's not a matter of generation as much as it is a question of... well, general knowledge. That being said, you're right, it's not a reason to berate people. I just get a bit frustrated at times, seeing how much the average Joe know so little. ^^;
He should said have an "Ice" day!! 😊
Van Damme is legendary ❤
With all the great 80s and 90s action movies you guys have watched and now time cop I think its the best time to bring up the broforce game. As old school gamers such as you are I figured youd like its retro blocky style along with its humor. Broforce has so many awsome 80s movies and just awsome humor in general. Its a testerone fueled game for bros to have a great time. Being able to kick satans ass as action heroes like commando, the terminator, time cop, robo cop, neo, men in black, the boondock brothers, tank girl, riply from alien, etc. So.... have you guys played it yet?
Okay, this movie is MUCH better than I remembered when I was a kid.
"Oh no those guys!"
"The bad haircuts!"
Good movie love the video octokrool stay motivated Dream big 1 mill on the way
The Quest and Last Action Hero
bugger was hoping for lionheart {wrong bet} i think you guy would have had fun with that one!
When comes to jcvd movies you need to watch the quest of course cyborg and the hard target and lionheart I like when he said how does it feel to be hunted you tell me you should know better and also watch desert heat from 1999
Of all the characters in Jean Claude Van Damm movies the most eye popping gorgeous one is Natasha in Hard Target ..when y'all get to that movie watch her eyes man so next level beautiful. Great movie editing too. Hard Target Van Damm is pleasure good. His best movie to me is LionHeart though. So much heart in that one.
This film is awesome.
Jean Claude Van Damage
can kick his way outta anything
The 90' and 2000's they still made good movies and series, after that geting one is a rarity.
You guys should check out Sudden Death. Another classic Van Damme movie with a great villain.
Same director of Timecop.
'Die Hard in an arena'.
love this film
26:00. Looks like he really... lay'd him out...
A lot of his movies have underrated soundtracks too!
It's about Time, yeah . . .
Btw, forgot to add, and once again this film started my French escapade "Française en haute ".
5:59 many Ferris Bueller fans got to see what Cameron got to see prior to the pool scene. 6:07 yeah he’s coppin’ a feel
Hey you guys are good. You should challenge yourselves with Chinatown from 1974 with Faye Dunaway and Jack Nicholson. The Writers Guild - that is, people who write movies for a living - always vote it in the top 4 scripts with Casablanca and The Godfather. It was Roman Poksnski' s last film in America after Charles Manson murdered his wife. This film challenges you in every possible way. 😮😮😮
You haven't seen jcvd if you don't watch these action Masterpieces
Double Impact 1991
Universal Soldier 1992
Hard target 1993
💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Both of them are better actors than those in the film. Her fake laugh will still go down in RUclips history.
Omg yessss…. Yall should check out double impact and universal soldier and cyborg I love van damme movies
One of Van Damme's good movies from the earlier years. I really enjoyed you watching it. I would like to recommend a movie that is a gem in the rough from 1999. RAVENOUS with Guy Pierce and Robert Carlyle. Very well acted and directed. I hope it wins the vote.
Had no faith that it'd be as fun as it was.
Double Impact is one of my favorite JCVD movies.
You've never seen JCVD do Sci-fi? You might like the Universal Soldier series. Walker is a cool name - God Damme!
Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Great reaction guys. If you loved Ron Silver as the villian in this you'd love him in Blue Steel with Jamie Lee Curtis.
Loved the reaction. Another good one 😢 is 1996 The Arrival .
Please check out Van Damme in "Lionheart" and "Quest". The universal soldier series has some good ones as well. If you want something a little strange go with "Cyborg". Honestly you cant go wrong with anything he's done up until "In hell" in 2003. Oh yea, since you mentioned sci-fy movies its an absolute must that yall watch both "Blade runner" films if you haven't already.
13:51 Oh man, I forgot ProJared was in this movie.
Great movie 🍿 ya should watch cyborg with van damme another hidden gem 💎
Good you are getting closer to Hard Target which will be a glorious day when you react to it 👍🏻
If you're going down the JCVD path, "double team" with Dennis Rodman is his best
Kinda want to know the reaction to Ricky becoming Richard with the time change.
