EXATLY! It's upsetting to see that children, CHILDREN, are incredibly unstable and broken these days because of the stereotypes that are thrown at them.
Yeah me too. Not being able to see can put a fear on you that creates anger which births a strength of survival, so much so it makes you willing to risk your own death, or outright kill the mdrfkr fighting, just to live. Someone owes Gramma a big screen TV for her genuine media focused family disconnection, neglectful disinterested silence, willful ignorance even after she was beaten, disrobed, thrown down, hearing the girls desperate struggle upstairs, (BTW G-maw has always encouraged her g-daughter to keep an axe on her Bedroom dresser, I mean who doesn't )However I do think it's a bit too permissive to allow a serial rapist/killer to just hang around the living room in front of her grandchild dressed in Drag. Lots of terrible things can happen right under your nose, when Families get hooked on media things go on easily behind their backs, they grow a blind eye, and cries for help fall on deaf ears.
Grandma doesn't give AF. Granddaughter just lost her virginity, almost died, dead dude hanging in the living room.....her main priority? Anything good on TV?
Yes, I was also thinking he was too old to be hitting on teenagers in skating rinks, and who doesn't know you can't smoke in a skating rink, esp. not on the skating floor? SMH
The fact this is only 20 minutes long is something that’s almost completely rare. American Film Institute is one of the pioneers of masterful cinematic filmmaking. The storytelling, direction, and production are just some of the key aspects that makes this whole film truly stand out in all its glory.
That Blonde-girl is Kasia Pilewicz. She was casted on America's next top model cycle 16. I am a huge fan of her since that show. So proud to see her here.
I liked how they made sure to include Maddy using the axe in the beginning, which one would think had no relevance to the movie but ended up being her savior. Not to mention the way she used it. This was actually pretty good! Bravo!👏🏼🙌🏼👏🏼🙌🏼
Wow this was absolutely incredible. As someone who is an absolute horror junkie I’ve watched SO MANY horror movies. Some of them are horrible, the effects, acting, plot, etc. monsters and demons can be creepy but the actually scary things are people and this showed that so well. It was scary, well executed, acted amazingly, and realistic... none of that extra unnecessary bs. Props!
Here is why. Most feature films think they should be like novels (and are often even based on them). But there is really only time enough to tell a short story. These short films start with the premise that they are short stories. That is why they work so well.
The blonde girl, real name Kasia, was on America’s Next Top Model Cycle 16. I’m surprised no one has said this in the comments. Sorry if someone already said it. Haha!
@@cristinaflorina9538 and possibly a false observation, at that. In over 30, maybe 40 comments, I did not see a single one insulting the blonde girl. I did see a couple making fun of the murderer, and a few sticking up for the blonde girl. Most were complimenting the nerdy girl's looks, complimenting the movie, or making fun of the movie since it was more funny-goofy than scary.
All that shows is the crappy side of people and the fact they have no real info on the back story. Finally, the acting was so good that it provoked that irrational response. This was a very American style horror flick.
6 years later but dang this is really good! I love how instead of giving her a makeover montage where she magically doesnt need glasses its very emphasized that she cant see. Awesome video
This would be a great beginning for a movie designed around that girl becoming someone who lures killers in and then kills them. I love how they just continue on and he is just hanging there. No big deal. She even looked up at him and smiled a bit, like “Look what I just did. Cool!” They made a movie out of Lights Out, they could do this one too.
There's a movie called "Tragedy Girls" and it's about these two girls that run of podcast about murders in their town and they search for the killer and trap him and become killers themselves. It's so freaking good
Jennifer's Body was a CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE if for no other reason than Megan Fox (particularly at that time was Finer than Frog's hair split four ways!), and character development? What about the scene where she states she is "not even a backdoor virgin" and
Could be both! Up until 1985 it’s still the 70’s, culture wise. It’s the same every decade just because it turns 19-whatever doesn’t mean everything changes over night. Hell it still looked like the 1800’s until ww1 ended.
I live in a small town. No one really cares. It’s considered safe so we could do what we wanted. We all had jobs and extracurricular I wouldn’t see my mom for a week straight.
I feel like the grandma turning on the TV is a metaphor for those we love and those who claim to love us-essentially those who are supposed to protect us- can turn a blind eye to sexual violence
How would that fit that metaphor? For that to fit, the grandma would have to be in a position where she could actually protect Maddy. It's made extremely obvious that she isn't, that in this relationship, Maddy is more the carer & protector of her weak, sick grandmother who can't even walk. If it's a metaphor at all, it's more that we're so used to violence and horror that it doesn't phase us much anymore, that after experiencing something extreme and traumatic, that we just go back to everyday life because that violence and horror has just become part of "ordinary".
i think it was that the grandma likes the cartoons and they're comforting to her, so when traumatic things happen she turns back to the things that make her happy. maddy criticised her for it earlier like how people criticise women for enjoying sex, but if it makes you happy that's what's important. i think it was a happy ending.
Ok.. I'm not even done with this and I'm wondering.." Why the hell is this not a full length feature film"!?. This is by far the best short on the air waves to date. Stop selling yourselves short, and give us MORE please!!.
I think that point is that grammy is a little senile so she doesn't even seem to react or respond to anything the main character says. So It's like she's talking to a wall and wants to just exclaim her excitement.
The girl shouldn't answer "I don't know".. it only gave room for the murderer to force his wants upon her. She should be confident enough in herself to know what she wants. But yeah, maybe a teenager still in a journey to finding out her identity and strengthen her self-esteem.
This is my favorite horror short film. I remember watching this about 6 years ago. The acting is awesome btw & the girl with the glasses is adorable! ❤
I think that horror classic was softly alluded to and as soon as I saw the shot of the back of Grandma's chair, I knew it was a nod to Little Red Riding Hood. This short was a treat, with a great plot line and visual aesthethic. Great casting too.
This was incredible. I could only imagine a longer version of this film. The amount of character development, character relation and empathy that was built in that short time was so impressive. The camera choice, angles and score to the originality in the storyline and the fight between the antagonist and protagonist was intense. Fantastic performance by every actor. Everything was perfect.
RUclips recommended this to me and I am glad it did. An excellent concept and film . If you have the inclination the film would be just as masterful at feature length.
The fact that the protagonist despised the popular girl (who didn’t do anything remotely wrong) more than any of the men for mistreating her says a lot about society.
I agree that there were more negative feelings towards the blonde girl but i dont think she despised her. I think it was mostly just bitter jealousy. And yeah her negative emotions were target at the wrong person
Watching this for the third time. I just love everything about it. The actress who plays Maddy is mesmerising and I love the fact that the score ranges from whimsical country to downright chilling in the darker moments. It breaks my heart when the grandmother just wheels herself right back in front of the television after everything Maddy has just been through.
Belinda Hawkins Wow... you're the first comment I saw that actually posited what I was thinking. I guess a part of the story is Life Goes On... And also that the world doesn't revolve around you

How insulting it is for a young, insecure girl who finally gets the courage to say "hi" to good looking guys only to be met with scorn and ridicule 😔People, especially kids and teenagers can be so cruel.
@@clarisafb9794 I agree 100% The actress is gorgeous but here, I think the character is meant to look ordinary and blend in. This is one of my favorite short films just because of her. She could be my gf anytime :)
I watched horror shorts the whole night and decent ones are hard to find. all the more on youtube. this is about the one in thirty I would watch again. not overacted, no cheap jump scares and an empathetic heroine. even the bad guy did great! I want more..
Watch The Jigsaw, The Ten Steps and The French Doors. Mama is good too. For some reason I find good shorts scarier than full length films. More scares per minute (SPM).
Damn that message with the grandma at the end . Literally ignored the deadbody hanging to watch tv , is that the real message from this film ?? None the less a short gripping masterpiece !!
A couple things I'd like to say: I feel bad for the Blonde Girl; she didn't deserve to get done like that Love how they established Final Girl can use an axe Grandma and Final Girl are apparently both hardcore Grandma was pissed at Nice Guy for what he did to her, and you better believe she could hear the struggle from downstairs. This was a fantastic short film and well told story
I have watched many 2 hour long big production movies with "A list" actors and not been as entertained and satisfied as watching this. Great job. That girl can be in bigger productions.

Yes I know. Really sad that behind that self esteem she seemed to have had, She really had nothing at all.
But these insecure teens can become strong and powerful from their living hell

I just want to live my life unbothered like her grandma
Makes two of us....🤣

Is it true that guys get a huge boner when they're hanging? Just saying... pretty complicated way to kill a guy when you're already holding an ax

Props!

Got me with the jump scare at the end! I loved the ending with the grandma and her tv. Great flick, super fun to watch!
I swear these videos/short films on here are way fucking better than 99% of major Hollywood movies today. I cant stop watching these!
Same!! Even though they’re shorter, I feel like they just hold so much more than other movies out there
Here is why.
Haha!
Omg I love her!!!
i noticed that too lol
Lol, I thought I was the only one who noticed her
I know her too but forgot her name, lol She was my fave!

There are more comments here insulting a somewhat promiscuous girl who didn't deserve to die, than the actual murderer.
- well you can't decide who deserves to die.
you do know this isn't real right? of course people aren't going to take this seriously, this isn't even scary or frightening.
@@eat0dirt21 You do know that's called an observation, right?
@@cristinaflorina9538 and possibly a false observation, at that. In over 30, maybe 40 comments, I did not see a single one insulting the blonde girl. I did see a couple making fun of the murderer, and a few sticking up for the blonde girl. Most were complimenting the nerdy girl's looks, complimenting the movie, or making fun of the movie since it was more funny-goofy than scary.
All that shows is

@@tkak4 Or maybe he just started it with that blonde girl and he never did it before. Who knows.
I feel like the grandma turning on the TV is a metaphor for those we love and those who claim to love us-essentially those who are supposed to protect us- can turn a blind eye to sexual violence
What would happen if you looked at Medusa?
@@JoePedowithout my glasses, nothing would happen because I wouldn't be able to see her.
@@herelieskittythomas3726 What about with your glasses?
Maddy is so beautiful I don’t understand how people can bully someone into changing who they are
Thanks for watching!
Unfortunately many young people feel pressured into changing themselves just to please others
Ok.. I'm not even done with this and I'm wondering.." Why the hell is this not a full length feature film"!?. This is by far the best short on the air waves to date. Stop selling yourselves short, and give us MORE please!!.

"Hey Grandma guess what, chicken butt. Just kidding, I had sex." Lol wtf
Ele Nora I mean who says that to their grandma?
Apparently the writer has never had a real regular convention with a person and thinks this is how conversation go. Lol
I think that point is that grammy is a little senile so she doesn't even seem to react or respond to anything the main character says. So It's like she's talking to a wall and wants to just exclaim her excitement.
UnicornSpirit EXACTLY!

The girl shouldn't answer "I don't know".. it only gave room for the murderer to force his wants upon her. She should be confident enough in herself to know what she wants. But yeah, maybe a teenager still in a journey to finding out her identity and strengthen her self-esteem.

Yup, ... And the way she said, "fck u" to those men.
