Oh my goodness! This is hands down the best, most helpful video on the how-to of putting a topper on. I went and bought 3 toppers and am in tears on how to wear them. I take them out of their boxes. Try to get them on correctly. Give up and put them back in their boxes. This video is a game changer. First thing I'm going to do is get that topper grip! Then try again. Thank you so very much!!

I just knew you would have a video to help me with it 🥰 I just finished watching Take 1 and, yes it was a bit small, so I appreciate Take 2 😁 I also am thankful that you mentioned the topper wig grip. I didn't know there was such a thing. I just went over to Amazon and purchased one. After 18 months of wearing only wigs, my bio hair has grown as long as yours, but I'm thinning quite a bit on top, thus thought I'd go Topper 😂 I'm looking forward to having this alternative to a wig when I'm just not wanting to wear one. Thank you so much for this great video. I've been wearing full wigs. You have lovely bio hair. I have white, extremely frizzy bio hair and have tried so many products to tame the frizz but still haven't found the solution. During the summer, I hate the heat of a full wig. I'm going to try one of these toppers based on your well explained review. Fingers crossed, I can find something to calm my frizzy bio hair. Thank you again for this great video!!
My bio hair can have a tendency to be a little frizzy too, so I have too flat-iron it a little to make it so the fibers blend. I also put a lot oof leave-in conditioner on it, too. That helps tame it some, but then by day 2 it's stringy and separating, so it doesn't look good with the topper past day 1 and I revert to wigs. But leaving all the conditioners on it under my wigs has really helped to be much healthier than ever before and that I like. I hope you have some success with the toppers. Thank you so much for this review! I have a petite size head and having difficulty adjusting to a wig. Plus I don’t care for the amount of permatease in most wigs and don’t want to spend a lot of money. I have major thinning at the crown and widow peaks so I am going to try a topper. Love your reviews!
You are so welcome! A topper might be the best place to start if you're new at helper hair. Also, take advantage of looking at as many reviews of wigs that you're considering buying. That will give you a good idea of how much permatease you'll find in the wigs you're looking at. You'll probably do best to stick with "low density" wigs and/or mono top/lace front wigs & toppers because they tend to be lower density and zero permatease. Thanks so much for watching and sharing! You nailed it, Coco! 👏👏 Best topper review ever, you covered cap & clips thoroughly & up-close! Thanks for showing so many colors--- Especially color #44, it's not as dark as in the catalog. You mentioned moisturizing wigs after each wearing? Never heard that before-- 🤔 can you share?
Thanks so much!!! ❣❣❣The color 44 does look a little lighter in my video for some reason, as do the Pretty Pewter colors (#51--I mistakenly called them "Silver" which is incorrect). Topper fibers are just like wigs. But because they're longer and have more movement than many wigs, the fibers can suffer from friction frizz and dehydration much sooner than wigs (plus we're more likely to touch them and fuss with them, which can shorten the life of your fibers as well). So spraying a conditioner on them after wearing will help the fibers stay fresher longer and help keep your topper looking great much longer. Don't forget that even with doing this step, the conditioner can build up and make it necessary to wash your topper more frequently, too. I do this with all my longer wigs too. But I think they're worth it!!! Hey! I think I just found the topic of my next video!!! ❤❤❤
@@cocoshairsolutions Yes, conditioning after wearing would make a great follow-up video.👍 What kind of conditioner etc.. Also would like to hear you address shine. In my opinion, the whisperlite fibers, although soft & light, look like Barbie doll hair--- screaming fake, even after dry shampoo or washing. The worse was the Jaclyn Smith "Timeless ", which is such a cute style, but I returned immediately because it looked like costume hair, lol. Indoor light is "kind", but outdoor light is brutal!
One quick way I deal with shine is a quick, light application of spray dry shampoo. My favorite brand is Batiste and I have their brunette (brown) spray and a normal (spray). That way when I get a wig that has good fibers but a bit too much shine, I lightly spray the outer fibers and reduce the shine! But there are also wigs that absolutely FEEL like they are doll's hair and I return those without treatment. Thanks again for watching!!! Blessings to you!!!

Thank you for your time and sharing these toppers. I would like to add that (sadly) my hair continues to thin. I am finding the P.Y. toppers are becoming to heavy to hold or stay in place. I have found that Wig Pro has a smaller cap, wavy and easily stays in place and: its body blends wonderfully with my hair when I curl it. Cheers

I do have one question, I have always been afraid to wear toppers because I think on a windy day the hair would fly up and then bam people could see the topper. You are so welcome! As far as the wind flipping the hair up and revealing the topper, I have never had that happen! Toppers are meant to be brushed into and blended with your own bio hair, so if the wind were blowing strong enough, it would take ALL your hair up and then all you would see is your natural hairline along your neck! Hi Carmen!! Every brand of topper will have a different amount of hair on it, so some will provide better coverage than others. If you have shorter hair and need a topper then you would want to order the shorter one or have a longer one trimmed my your hairstylist. But if you’re looking for a topper to substitute for a wig (to give you the appearance of having longer hair), it’s probably not going to look quite right because there’s not enough hair on them to look realistic. Another great video! I have one question please. When using the top grip band, since it lays on over your bio hair, isn't there a chance that when snapping the clips onto it that it could slide off backwards? Or are you actually snapping the clips onto it and capturing some of your bio hair underneath? I ask because there are little ribbons to snap the clips onto but I can't tell from the video if you're snapping onto the grip only or with some of your own hair. Also, you mentioned that the versa fiber can be curled, is it heat friendly? And could your curl to some extend the whisper lite with a warm curling brush? One more question please. You said the toppers measure 8" across, can you please measure from front to back for that measurement also? Thank you
Hi Mary! If you are wearing the top grip band correctly, the nap of the velveteen fabric will keep the band in place. You can then snap the clips onto the top grip band and the topper will not move! I like snapping those clips onto the grip band wherever they will connect with the band. Sometimes A little of my own bio hair will be included; it just depends on how large the topper is and where the clips are located. I find that the ribbons don’t always line up with the clips. Yes, VersaFiber wigs are heat-friendly and can be curled using a flat iron up to 350 degrees! The WhisperLite wigs are not heat-friendly but will tolerate a hot air brush up to 300 degrees. The isn’t enough to put much curl in a wig but it can smooth out box hair and lift bangs a bit! PY long curlable toppers measure 8”x8”. Other sizes and brands can measure as small as 4”x5” so you’ll have to be sure to read the description. Hope this helps!!! Hugs! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I do have a question, I have one of those wig grips with the clear elastic and when I go to wear my hair up with my topper, it’s very obvious. How are you able to wear your hair up like that with nothing showing in the back from your wig grip? Right now I am using a Belle Tress 18 inch, but I’d like to try one of Paula Young’s-I wish they had a longer length!
Hi Chris! Are you talking about the clear elastic fish line type part of the wig grip band? That can be disguised by leaving part of your hair down when you put the wig grip band on. Please let me know if this is what you mean or if I’m missing the question. Bell trace has beautiful Toppers very much like Raquel Welch‘s. I have a Raquel Welch and I wear my hair up with it all the time and it works very well. But I do use the small topper wing grip to go with it. @@cocoshairsolutions yes, the clear elastic fish line. I use the Velcro piece that they are now selling with it to keep it secured at the base of your nape and it’s black. It’s very obvious. It does not stay underneath my occipital bone unless I use that Velcro piece, and once I have it on, I can’t take it off because it’s stuck on there for life! I might buy a second one and see if I can use bobby pins or something to keep it in place rather than the Velcro. I have been playing around with my topper and have found that walker tape right on the edge of my hairline is working amazingly well, but I have yet to see how easy it is to get off of my bio hair! Thanks for all your help :-)

Hi again..do you hair have to have long bio hair to wear whisper lite long length topper? Or will that empty space look not natural and full..I cannot wear wigs..have you found them to be too shiny..remedy for that ..anything? Thank you luv..
Hi Linda! I think you might be able to get away with wearing the long topper if your bio hair is hitting your shoulders. It might be close enough and your shorter bio hair shouldn't be too noticeable. And of course, you can just let your bio hair continue to grow! Are you stuck on the WhisperLite line? I found the VersaFiber long topper to be a little more realistic, less shiny, and it lays nicer than the WhisperLite. You can also curl it if you want, too! Hi G.White! I would say that the Curlable Versafiber topper provides better coverage, but it doesn't really provide volume on top. To get that, you may have to try a different brand which provides a topper with permatease on top. Any topper with a mono top will not provide you with this, either. Hi Coco, Thanks for replying to my question regarding your name. I will use Coco from now on as it relates to your You Tube channel. I was looking for a product on Amazon which would give my versa fibre topper some much needed shine as it seemed to be quite dull after several months. I ordered Bonfi Natural ‘Oil Free Wig Shine’ with UV Protector & Vitamin E. It came in three sizes and I chose the 4 oz. It is very nice and it goes a long way so best to use it sparingly. I lightly sprayed my topper and then combed it through. I’m very pleased and I can highly recommend this product. Cheers🥰

Do you have any suggestions for someone who has thinner but adequate hair in the front sides for the clips (and can use a topper grip like you did) but thin at the top back of the head? I had two "swirls" back there and struggle with attaching a topper in that area. I don't think I've seen anyone address ideas to attach a topper at the top/back of the head where my hair is the most thin. My toppers end up feeling like they are dangling back there unless I pull it all back and clip it in an updo.
Hi Julie!! Hmmm… if you can find a topper that has a much larger cap on it so that it extends downed onto the areas where you have more hair to clip it to, that might take care of that problem. But if you can’t find a larger cap topper when you’re experiencing this amount of hair loss, unfortunately that’s when you would graduate to a wig full-time. I just received the long topper after watching your review. I really like it but wish I had got it in the pecan delight as you show but instead got it in just the 8 base color. I'm thinking of exchanging it but want to know if you've had any Paula young wigs or toppers that you've exchanged for another color? I ask because I've read many reviews that the exchange is somewhat complicated in that they don't give you all your money back. Any help with this is appreciated :)
Hi Mary! First of all, I apologize for the tardy reply--had my son's wedding and a week camping with our daughter's family back-to-back and just got home yesterday. By all means, return it. I have returned many, many wigs/hairpieces and you just have to know that it will cost you shipping and take time. If you look at the back side of your receipt, you'll see a shipping label that you don't need to pay for. This will get your wig back to PY and you'll tell them what you want to do by filling out the additional information on the back side. PY will charge you a standard rate of $8.95 to return your wig. In my opinion, the whisperlite fibers, although soft & light, look like Barbie doll hair--- screaming fake, even after dry shampoo or washing. The worse was the Jaclyn Smith "Timeless ", which is such a cute style, but I returned immediately because it looked like costume hair, lol. Indoor light is "kind", but outdoor light is brutal!
One quick way I deal with shine is a quick, light application of spray dry shampoo. My favorite brand is Batiste and I have their brunette (brown) spray and a normal (spray). That way when I get a wig that has good fibers but a bit too much shine, I lightly spray the outer fibers and reduce the shine! But there are also wigs that absolutely FEEL like they are doll's hair and I return those without treatment. Thanks again for watching!!! Blessings to you!!!

I have found that Wig Pro has a smaller cap, wavy and easily stays in place and: its body blends wonderfully with my hair when I curl it. Cheers

I do have one question, I have always been afraid to wear toppers because I think on a windy day the hair would fly up and then bam people could see the topper. You are so welcome! As far as the wind flipping the hair up and revealing the topper, I have never had that happen! Toppers are meant to be brushed into and blended with your own bio hair, so if the wind were blowing strong enough, it would take ALL your hair up and then all you would see is your natural hairline along your neck! Hi Carmen!! Every brand of topper will have a different amount of hair on it, so some will provide better coverage than others. If you have shorter hair and need a topper then you would want to order the shorter one or have a longer one trimmed my your hairstylist. But if you’re looking for a topper to substitute for a wig (to give you the appearance of having longer hair), it’s probably not going to look quite right because there’s not enough hair on them to look realistic. Another great video! I have one question please. When using the top grip band, since it lays on over your bio hair, isn't there a chance that when snapping the clips onto it that it could slide off backwards? Or are you actually snapping the clips onto it and capturing some of your bio hair underneath? I ask because there are little ribbons to snap the clips onto but I can't tell from the video if you're snapping onto the grip only or with some of your own hair. Also, you mentioned that the versa fiber can be curled, is it heat friendly? And could your curl to some extend the whisper lite with a warm curling brush? One more question please. You said the toppers measure 8" across, can you please measure from front to back for that measurement also? Thank you
Hi Mary! If you are wearing the top grip band correctly, the nap of the velveteen fabric will keep the band in place. You can then snap the clips onto the top grip band and the topper will not move! I like snapping those clips onto the grip band wherever they will connect with the band. Sometimes A little of my own bio hair will be included; it just depends on how large the topper is and where the clips are located. I find that the ribbons don’t always line up with the clips.
Yes, VersaFiber wigs are heat-friendly and can be curled using a flat iron up to 350 degrees! The WhisperLite wigs are not heat-friendly but will tolerate a hot air brush up to 300 degrees. The isn’t enough to put much curl in a wig but it can smooth out box hair and lift bangs a bit!
PY long curlable toppers measure 8”x8”. Other sizes and brands can measure as small as 4”x5” so you’ll have to be sure to read the description. Hope this helps!!! Hugs! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I do have a question, I have one of those wig grips with the clear elastic and when I go to wear my hair up with my topper, it’s very obvious. How are you able to wear your hair up like that with nothing showing in the back from your wig grip? Right now I am using a Belle Tress 18 inch, but I’d like to try one of Paula Young’s-I wish they had a longer length!
Hi Chris! Are you talking about the clear elastic fish line type part of the wig grip band? That can be disguised by leaving part of your hair down when you put the wig grip band on. Please let me know if this is what you mean or if I’m missing the question. Bell trace has beautiful Toppers very much like Raquel Welch‘s. I have a Raquel Welch and I wear my hair up with it all the time and it works very well. But I do use the small topper wing grip to go with it. @@cocoshairsolutions yes, the clear elastic fish line. I use the Velcro piece that they are now selling with it to keep it secured at the base of your nape and it’s black. It’s very obvious. It does not stay underneath my occipital bone unless I use that Velcro piece, and once I have it on, I can’t take it off because it’s stuck on there for life! I might buy a second one and see if I can use bobby pins or something to keep it in place rather than the Velcro. I have been playing around with my topper and have found that walker tape right on the edge of my hairline is working amazingly well, but I have yet to see how easy it is to get off of my bio hair! Hi Linda! I think you might be able to get away with wearing the long topper if your bio hair is hitting your shoulders. It might be close enough and your shorter bio hair shouldn't be too noticeable. And of course, you can just let your bio hair continue to grow!
Are you stuck on the WhisperLite line? I found the VersaFiber long topper to be a little more realistic, less shiny, and it lays nicer than the WhisperLite. You can also curl it if you want, too! I would order both, see which one you like better and return the other one. That way you'll know.

Hi G.White! I would say that the Curlable Versafiber topper provides better coverage, but it doesn't really provide volume on top. To get that, you may have to try a different brand which provides a topper with permatease on top. Any topper with a mono top will not provide you with this, either. I was looking for a product on Amazon which would give my versa fibre topper some much needed shine as it seemed to be quite dull after several months.
I ordered Bonfi Natural ‘Oil Free Wig Shine’ with UV Protector & Vitamin E. It came in three sizes and I chose the 4 oz. It is very nice and it goes a long way so best to use it sparingly. I lightly sprayed my topper and then combed it through. I’m very pleased and I can highly recommend this product.

Another fantastic review! Thank you so much. Do you have any suggestions for someone who has thinner but adequate hair in the front sides for the clips (and can use a topper grip like you did) but thin at the top back of the head? I had two "swirls" back there and struggle with attaching a topper in that area. I don't think I've seen anyone address ideas to attach a topper at the top/back of the head where my hair is the most thin. My toppers end up feeling like they are dangling back there unless I pull it all back and clip it in an updo.
Hi Julie!! Hmmm… if you can find a topper that has a much larger cap on it so that it extends downed onto the areas where you have more hair to clip it to, that might take care of that problem. But if you can’t find a larger cap topper when you’re experiencing this amount of hair loss, unfortunately that’s when you would graduate to a wig full-time. I just received the long topper after watching your review. I really like it but wish I had got it in the pecan delight as you show but instead got it in just the 8 base color. I'm thinking of exchanging it but want to know if you've had any Paula young wigs or toppers that you've exchanged for another color? I ask because I've read many reviews that the exchange is somewhat complicated in that they don't give you all your money back. Any help with this is appreciated :)
Hi Mary! First of all, I apologize for the tardy reply--had my son's wedding and a week camping with our daughter's family back-to-back and just got home yesterday.
By all means, return it. I have returned many, many wigs/hairpieces and you just have to know that it will cost you shipping and take time.
If you look at the back side of your receipt, you'll see a shipping label that you don't need to pay for. This will get your wig back to PY and you'll tell them what you want to do by filling out the additional information on the back side. PY will charge you a standard rate of $8.95 to return your wig. This will be deducted from the total of your refund/exchange. I hope this helps!!
