Taipei can be an escape into nature. Good hiking is never more than a few stops away. Explore the great outdoors with the Top 5 Hidden Trails accessible by Metro Rapid Transit (MRT). Tiger Mountain is a cute and friendly spot just 1KM away from Houshanpi Station. This trail has plenty of places to chill including a scenic bridge that’s perfect for Instagram. Pingding Ancient Canal Trail close to Shilin Station is a unique trail paved along a waterway that forms part of the canal system. It should totally be on your bucket list for Yangmingshan National Park.
Tiao-Mi Historic trail just beyond Xiangshan Station is accessible by YouBike. The trail comes out from Dexing Coal mine which was active around 100 years ago. Jiantanshan Hiking Trail near Jiantan Station is recommended by experienced hikers. The Old Place Platform is where locals go to take in panoramic views of Old Taipei. Numerous airplanes can also be seen taking off against the backdrop of Taipei 101. Hengling Trail is close to Beitou station. This bamboo forest is similar to famous hikes like Arashiyama in Japan. It’s a leisurely walk without stairs that anyone can comfortably complete in just 15-20 minutes. It’s a great choice for friends or family.
