Isshin is the epitome of boss fights. Sekiro is the first game to truly give me that feeling of having started at a nothing nobody vagrant riff raff who over the course of the game slowly honed his skills and became a MASTER Shinobi. Even after progressing through the entire rest of the game, there were no tricks or gimmicks that were gonna get me through Isshin quickly and easily. After five days of countless hour sessions at a time, it was only once I stopped trying so hard and conveniently reached a sort of, “zen state” that I realized mid battle how close I was to beating him that attempt… and inevitably did! I came home from Christmas dinner in a food daze ready to just chill and have a million more goes at him just for shiggles. Little did I know, it was fated to only be about 2-3 goes that night. My first fromsoft experience was completed with the most memorable of battles and journeys to ever grace my tv screen and more importantly… my mind. Sekiro and it’s combat will be carved into the ether as one the all time greats!

Definitely a good example of a hard boss is the Pure Vessel from Hollow Knight, more specifically, the Pantheon of the Knight. If you don’t know what it is, it’s the boss rush that is filled with incredibly hard bosses in the game. The boss by itself is incredibly tricky to learn how to beat. I think there's two bosses that really stick with me overall. First one, I'd say Red in GSC and HGSS. For me, I hate grinding, so most of the gyms and the Pokemon League I ended up at with pokemon at a similar level to theirs (usually). But with Red, I was severely underleveled after making my way towards him almost as soon as I was able to. And while his team isn't "perfect counter to everything" kind of thing, it still poses a good challenge and was difficult for me and my lower leveled 'mons to break through.
The second one, I wouldn't necessarily call "hard" (at least not on the normal difficulty), but beating Heimdall's ass in God of War Ragnarok felt incredibly satisfying. That dude was the most narcissistic, egotistical, self-centered sonovatog I've ever encountered, and seeing him react to actually get hurt before taking him out just felt so damn good. Sucker got what he deserved, and I think even that was too kind for him.
