    My son is 3.9 yrs old . He will clearly ask what he wants and all . And also education related questions also he will answer. Eg .if i ask Ithu ena colour , he will answer pink , blue etc, same way object also ..but if i ask any casual questions like choclate veynuma biscuit veynuma , he will repeat same what i say .. ithu epd na correct panurathu mam ?

    • @PriankaEvangelineSLP
      @PriankaEvangelineSLP  Год назад

      Hi latha! By 3.9 he should be able to answer those questions. Repeating means he is not understanding the Q fully. He needs to be taught these speech and language skills. Pls enroll in speech therapy (preferably one with parent training).

    • @PriankaEvangelineSLP
      @PriankaEvangelineSLP  Год назад +1

      Mostly it is asking for reassurance (because he is anxious). Just say yes or answer positively and calmly. Find out if he is stressed in other areas of life and reduce the stress. While simultaneously teaching emotional coping strategies.

    • @PriankaEvangelineSLP
      @PriankaEvangelineSLP  3 года назад +1

      Hi neeru. Thanks for writing.. in part 1 I explain why children repeat: she might be recalling, reliving the enjoyment, associating, etc. Try: 1. You can let her do it as long as it doesn't interfere with her learning. 2. Talk with here more about things she likes. 3. Connect with her more, she will start communicating with you.

      Yes anusha - make sure you are teaching him functional communication skills and age appropriate language concepts. Echolalia reduces with improved language expression.

    • @PriankaEvangelineSLP
      @PriankaEvangelineSLP  3 года назад

      Hi hemlata, did u check out the first part of this video? There is always a reason for echolalia. Most often, it is a way of learning language. Children are analysing and learning the parts of language by repeating it to themselves. So echolalia is not harmful and shouldn't be stopped ❤️ hope you got some understanding 🌻

  • @anushamoonlover3945
    @anushamoonlover3945 Год назад

    Echolaila can reduce if he mingles with other kids because he doesn't have any interaction with his same age kids
