    I finally found a SLT who simplifies everything for overwhelmed parents (with Gestalt learner child). It is very helpful and informative. I wish you could discuss about Bilingualism too for kids on the spectrum and receptive language kids.

    Hi mam,
    My son is 3.3yr old and he has adhd and has delayed echolalia and minimal need based one word communication.
    He’s receptive but can’t communicate his feelings … we are giving him therapy and working with him but I would like to know at some point in future will he able to communicate and express his thoughts or how is the future of a toddler with echolalia ?

    This was quite good , however I’m interested to know how to convert echolalia in functional speech . I felt the last bit was very helpful as my child lately is engaging a lot in repetitive singing of rhymes like 5 little monkey and the finger family song.

    My 2year old babbles certain words such as "dida baba" several times. He is very eager to learn new words but struggles in forming certain sounds.He understands everything and has no signs of autisms. He is quite social and extrovert. Does he have echolalia?

    • @PriankaEvangelineSLP
      @PriankaEvangelineSLP  3 года назад +1

      Echolalia is a stage is language learning. Children learn by imitation. Your child might be exhibiting what we call varigated babbling - ie. the oral structures as it develops tries out variety of sound combinations. something like a vocal play. hope it helps :)

      Hi Nisha, i don't know hindi. Echolalia is part of normal development too, it's how many kids learn language. As they learn more, echolalia reduces. But for some kids language learning is difficult so they show persistent echolalia during later childhood too. That's where speech therapy will help them with learning language using various strategies
