    Analog, five oscillators and a pitch drift - that gave me a good laughter! You are the most positive person I met on RUclips. It's a pure pleasure to watch any video from you, I love your sense of humour. I think that next months and years could be the most interesting period of your channel. Synths aren't everything. You can also consider a 17-key kalimba in your new analog acoustic rig :) regards

    Personally I would've kept the MODX myself, the sheer number of thousands of presets from so many of their other keyboards is really appealing to me. But I also make early 2000s-style game music, and I'm not focused on super realistic samples or instrument emulations lol

    • @WoodyPianoShack

      @@WoodyPianoShack Absolutely! “Less is more” as they say. I own a similar variety of synths and workstations to Woody as far as I can see, spanning 5 decades, but if I was restricted to one synth forever, it would be the Yamaha DX7 mk1. I can play that thing for hours for some reason. I get way too distracted with all the options and sounds in my modern synths.

    Welcome back to YT! When you play massive instruments like organ and piano, the guitar is liberating and highly portable, and inexpensive relative to our main instruments. I added acoustic guitar 10 years after beginning organ, added piano too because I had access to a university. Then added synths 10 years after that. Today I play all these in my little space studio. I live and work in 73square meters of space; an 88Dpiano, synths, hardware recording studio, 3 guitars hangs on the wall, and 3 computers for graphic design. I custom built the keyboard/mixer/recording desk to fit the corner of the room and my gear. ( have slept on the floor now for 14 years :)

Well done! This COVID-19 pandemic and its associated lockdowns here in Southern California have really taken a toll on my songwriting inspiration so I similarly made some recent purchases as well to help remedy that: an Arturia Keylab Mk II 61-key MIDI keyboard, I upgraded to Arturia Vintage Collection 8, and purchased the Korg Collection 3. Dear Woody, You're such a lovable dude my good man. It is refreshing to see such a down-to-Earth person just showing his natural state of affairs, decision making, blunders, humor, and great video editing. I never tried a banjo and especially one on my knee. Errr, there's a joke in there somewhere. I wouldn't be surprised if you could play a little bit of fiddle too. It certainly appears to be an exciting time for you Woody. A long distance move, new apartment, musical equipment with no access to it, a room that would put most ambient reverbs to shame, new inspiration to play gigs again, and new refreshing content previously on your YT channel with interesting historical landmarks here and there. ♬🍁 🤗 🍁 ♬

    Hey there, Woody; I didn't realize you have a Korg Kross 2...as do I. I originally bought it as an affordable companion synth to the smaller Minilogue XD, and still have it, though in a way it's been excess to need and also in storage. Part of me wants to sell it (better than being left unused), but I also take your point about its many great (not just good or decent) sounds, especially considering the price point. It's probably one of the more unheralded, but quite competent, offerings by Korg--and this is why I've also been hesitant to sell it. The versatility is amazing; can't wait to see what you do with in in the future and see how you might incorporate it into a live or studio set-up. Be well.

    • @WoodyPianoShack
      @WoodyPianoShack  2 года назад

      HI Robert, yes, had it for a year I think but barely used it. I see it as an multitimbral sound module with all the bread & butter + synth sounds with a bonus 61 note keybed, to use with my PC sequencer as an alternative to VST plugins, but havent' started experimenting yet. yes it has onboard sequeencer but my initial explorations found it to be quite tedious to use.

    Woody, you sound a bit like Pete Townshend when you sing playing the guitar. You should practise the windmill move! :)

    I literally laughed out loud when you played Dueling banjos; yep production not as polished but content beats ‘gloss’ every time. Sorry but you would have to prise my MODX from my dead fingers to part me from it, still whichever you enjoy most, that’s the main point, it’s what suits you.

      @@WoodyPianoShack aha! That's smart! Now, you've got me curious. Being mostly an amateur, I'll likely stick to what I know; that is arranger keyboards ( mostly Casio and Yamaha ). But I am curious to see what a used Nord Lead would command. I'll definitely do a search on that

    You know the best sound the banjo can make is when it hits the accordion in the dumpster on the way in. (Just kidding.) (Maybe)
