- Prime Minister of Niger Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine and an officials inaugurated three newly discovered huge oil blocks in the Agadem region.
According to the local authorities, 38 of the region's 43 oil wells will soon be exploitable and will be explored by Sonidep.

@@awptsm While I can sort of see your point in some regards to China. Overall as a westerner myself and knowing how my own country has treated Africa. I have to respectfully disagree on your assessment calling Russia and China 'neo-colonizers'. Partners yes and there's nothing wrong with having partners or requiring some help in some fields. What is wrong is pretending one can do everything oneself without any help at all. Then as a result failing and not being able to do anything or causing suffering because you tried doing something on your own when you maybe needed a hand.
For example I would never try and do electrical work in my home on my own cuz I'd rather not electrocute myself. Thus traumatizing my neighbors who'd wind up finding my crispy fried corpse. So I call look around and find a well reviewed electrician. One who does know what he's doing and isn't going to overcharge and then pay them a fair wage to do the work. Or if I wanna learn how to do some basic electrical work myself. I may pay to take a course at a local community collage. Which still requires working with someone else who is experienced to then teach me skills I don't have so I can then do things on my own. Get what I'm saying?
We here in 'The Old West' are basically the shady electrician who overcharges you and also does a sloppy job. One that ensures you'll have to keep calling him back to fix things but never actually fixing anything. Russia and China are the competent electrician or community collage instructors. Who'll actually fix things for a fair price and/or will teach you how to fix things for yourself.

Unfortunately, most of the African countries surrounding them with the exception of the other Sahel states do not have their independence to trade…. And as such is the problem…. A refinery in Ghana has turned into a fuel storage facility when it’s got capacity to do so much more.
