thank you I just played that part in the game and that was my first thought. How the hell was that wall still standing and then I realized what you said that it’s more about keeping your focus and composure
Kratos absorbed the Soul of Hades who in turn absorbed the soul of his Uncle Atlas, and Atlas had tge strength to hokd the world Kratos has his strength, Kratos is on another level Just wish he had otger abilities like flight or transformation maybe
The point of Kratos going to sleep from fatigue immediately made me think: "There are other kinds of tired, lad. You’ll see when you’re getting older."
Getting tired doesn't mean physically getting tired it's more like getting tired of holding back it make you wanna explode and destroy everything around you, so resting and clearing your mind always helps
Intro never fails ima keep saying it; I’m going to say he is definitely holding back; compared to his original self being hellbent on revenge for decades I think he’s having a inner conflict it’s like denying your trueself
@darksage2233 Think about it my guy; Your whole life has been nothing but vengeance, hatred, anger, pain and to finally settle down for the same thing to reoccur; yes he’s in control of his anger but again that’s denying his true self. That’s like putting a lion in a new environment it would adapt yes but it would not lose its true nature which is to hunt and kill. His inner conflict is to merely destroy like abd says even Athena said it himself he cannot change! He will always be a monster! Him and thor are both destroyers yes kratos said they had to be better but that is kratos saying they don’t have to be that, that’s still him denying his trueself
Kratos was on the verge of losing his son and you people keep saying he was holding back and even when Thor killed him you still say kratos was holding back to defend himself and get back to his son who was alone with Odin who's basically the worst living entity.. yea right
I think he appears weaker because holding back is harder than letting it all out. His strength is driven by his rage. He’s incredibly strong at base but when he’s mad it’s ridiculous. He’s lived his life fueled by his emotions and now trying to suppress all that takes a physical toll on him.
Exactly. Being too stressed can make you sick, weaken your immune system and your brain. That in turn creates a domino effect that can take a physical toll on your muscles. Kratos suppressing himself, trying to live the life of a man, brings him closer to the physiology of a human. The more he lets his rage loose, let’s his true self loose, the closer to his younger self he becomes.
I think it was kinda similar to how Atreus was getting sick because he wasn’t tapping into his godliness he was trying to be a man, simply a good father.
imagine if Kratos didn't hold back his emotions. on his Journey Kratos must have hit, yelled at and scolded Atreus. this is something Kratos is afraid of, because he doesn't want to hurt Atreus, and doesn't want Atreus to become the monster like was once before. Kratos is very grateful to have Atreus and Laufey/Faye, because they make Kratos more human.
Doesn’t that mean he’s weaker in a sense? Yeah he’s able to tap in to his strength if forced. But not really on his own anymore like he used to. He has to be pushed.
That’s something that often gets ignored, constantly holding back arguably takes more effort than just going all out. Kratos could massacre the Norse pantheon if he really wanted to, but he doesn’t want to.
If you note his Journal after killing Heimdall, he enjoyed it. I think he holds back as he still enjoys the rage and bloodshed, but if he’s more powerful, imagine the destruction he can cause. He doesn’t want to be this way but it doesn’t mean he doesn’t enjoy it.
We only see him slipping up a couple times in the new games. The most obvious show of strength is his first fight with Baulder. Baulder mentions someone hiding inside the house and Kratos proceeds to hit Baulder so hard that the landscape begins to crumble. Kratos only looks around after the fight and realized he had to reign it in so he doesn't destroy the world he want Atreus to grow up in.
I believe Cory Balrog said that Kratos was holding back throughout both games. That if he went all out like in previous games, he'd just steamroll everyone and the game wouldn't be fun to play and because he doesn't want to destroy everything. It's one of the many signs that he's matured as a man and a deity. But he's much stronger than he was in the previous games, Godly items or no.
@@btech5652I agree to a certain extent, the new combat is fun but a hack & slash god of war game is just so much fun to see you look OP in gameplay. The new combat is harder and makes the game more challenging so they each have their pros and cons.
@@TheTwiztedit's not really challenging. Just a different Playstyle. I steam rolled Ragnorok multiple times. Its just canonically annoying to know Kratos is eons stronger than what he is in game. He should have zero problems with things like the Grim or Draugr. None.
i rember when thor keeps telling kratos to stop holding back but then when he mentions atreus we get a glimpse of the old kratos coming back out with a single punch that knocks a tooth out of thors mouth
He was holding back there too. If kratos wanted to thor could have been sent flying. We aren't going to act like thor is stronger than Zues. Cussed it's just not true 😂
@@mk-jamie2923 Kratos outright states that Thor was the strongest person he ever faced in a journal entry. Also, has the greatest feat of strenght in the series by knocking the world serpent back in time with his raw strength alone.
I 1000% agree. but he's only capable of suppressing it for so long and it's only a matter of time till his anger breaks out all at once. you may have the mental fortitude of a diamond but it's streangth can only last for so long
I think that thought is perfectly shown by the end of the first Thor fight. We got to see the barest flash of his true rage. Even Thor recognized it. But he slammed the lid on that rage almost instantly.
@@theoasis9633 I actually disagree with you there. The way he ended the Heimdall fight wasn't brutal rage. That was cold, calculated, and emotionless. That was the action of a father calmly ending a threat to an infant child. Which is much more terrifying to me because that kind of man will do *anything* to protect the ones he loves. That's a much greater strength than unbridled rage.
He got stronger. Physically anyway. This is consistent as Kratos, himself, wrote in his journals that Thor was the strongest foe he ever faced in their first fight and later when he defeats Thor Thor wasn't "playing games" anymore. He did have lots more magic in the Greek era and the types of abilities they had were better than what the Norse gods have.
@@RossoNero1987 Why not? Kratos was punched by Zeus many times, by far the strongest of the Greek deities. Even when he became an embodiment of fear itself Zeus attacked Kratos many times.
@@godzillakingofthemonsters5812 yeah, I think Zeus was more powerful in terms of magic and all that stuff. He was very tough, but Kratos was tougher. They fought for so long in all their battles. Kratos fought Thor quite short and managed to beat him. I dont know, I think Ragnarok Kratos would beat Zeus too but only if Atreus was in danger. With Odin they fought 4vs1 actually (with Mimir 😂) and I think Odin was even more powerful than Thor. For me the ranking is 1. Zeus 2. Odin 3. Ares for his nightmare trick 4. Thor. Young Kratos for me would rip Thor apart with his rage. But I also think Thor wasnt in his prime.
@@RossoNero1987 I don't buy that at all. Zeus' lightning would also be weaker than Thor's. Also Kratos is stronger now than he was then, and physically he beat Zeus to a bloody pulp many times. Ares is also trash, Kratos killed him with barely any godly strength. 1. Odin 2. Old Kratos 3. Thor 4. Freya 5. Young Kratos 6. Zeus
I think its similar to how Atreus got sick because he didn't know he was a god. Not acepping ones godly powers seems to weaken the god or at least Atreus and Kratos.
I think Kratos' fights with Thor show how helping clear his inner turmoil helped improve his strength. In his first fight at the start of Ragnarok he pretty clearly loses the fight, and he is originally destined to lose his second fight with Thor. Clearing his inner turmoil and fighting with a clear mind allowed him to beat Thor (yes they technically called off the fight but he was clearly winning) and then takes on Odin who is even stronger than Thor.
@darksage2233bro I hate to say it but when they were slamming their weapons together at the end and Thor freakin lost his, yeah Thor definitely lost that fight. Though I the will admit Thor was definitely giving Kratos a run for his money for a good second in that fight.
Also if you activate the rage meter in second fight mimir will say "stay in control of it brother" Meaning kratos has learned to use his rage effectively
I think the difference is that in Greek era, his rage made him the god slayer he was, but in Norse era, he did'nt need the rage, but was more calculating warrior. That's maybe why he was a little weaker, because he setteled down, and let go of his rage, but stayed as calculating warrior
This is exactly what im thinking kratos is still beast but without anger or rage fueling him he is warrior with calm mind but not savage like he use to be
Not weaker he’s still stronger by miles without rage than what he was with rage in gow3 he was 55 in gow3 now he’s 1055 in ragnorok Greek gods get stronger as they age he could one shot his old self with ease and said by Kratos Thor is the strongest opponent he’s faced could’ve meant just in the 9 realms but we don’t know
Kratos already answered this question in the comic book DLC that accompanied GOW 2018. He answers it every time he teaches Atreus about self-control. Kratos definitely is holding back.
This actually makes sense! Atreus was sick because he was unaware of his true nature as a god being a god thinking he’s a human made him sick and weak. Kratos internally fighting rage and bloodlust is combating with his exact nature as a god that his power derives from. Which is why the devs of the game say Kratos is actually stronger being that gods get stronger the older they get but Kratos battling with himself within is making him seem weaker. I also agree with the analogy of him holding back as well more so in god of war 2018 because it was more so about training Atreus if Kratos went all out Atreus wouldn’t get the training he needs. But there were little key things in ragnarok that i noticed! Like in 2018 GOW he flipped Tyr’s temple! Then In ragnarok i was like why does it seem like it takes so much effort to lift certain things or rip down a wooden fence with the blades.
probably doesn't help that the gods of the norse realm are much more effective warriors too than his greek bretheren. implication seems to be if kratos stuck to his old ways he'd have been slain by thor too.
The real reason is the video but he doesn't say that his rage fuels his power he took his own power source away which is why he's weaker but hes not at the same time Edit: this is confirmed by the devs
Good video. I think the old man story that he starts telling to Atreus is supposed to illustrate his mental fatigue and his being worn down by all this conflict and violence, hence his calling for death. After the final fight the ending of that story is changed as Kratos has found new purpose. He seems weaker merely because of his restraint and like you said he's haunted by his past atrocities. He isn't any physically weaker but throughout 2018 and most of Ragnarok he is 'mentally tired'. Like you said.
One thing I remember is Kratos saying all gods gain power as they grow older, so he's undoubtedly more powerful if he lets loose. He just doesn't want to be that monster
Physically he is stronger. But his spirit is in conflict. He is not "tired" physically...he is exhausted emotionally and spiritually. Its like a deep depression that keeps you bedridden. You have the strength to stand...but lack the will. Essentially he is holding himself back due to this conflict of his nature.
To put simple, I think he just doesn’t want to be known as a God Killing monster, to be more than just a monster. In his own words, to be better. He never grew tired in the past, because his rage kept driving him forward. He’s older and wiser now, he knows when and where he needs to battle or turn away, how to hold back to avoid senseless killing. He’s not as brutal as he used to be, he was far worse in past games. Now it’s more like he’s quick and efficient, applying power where it’s needed.
I really love how this shows the evolution of how Karatos copes with grief. In the older games, he is angered and violent. In the newer games, he has grown to have more restraint and processes his feelings of loss verbally. I think the concept of "grief fatigue" can describe his experience. And he's struggling, but he's also much more mature and human now. He's a good role model. It makes you want to know how his wife taught him all that in the short time they were able to be happy together.
That exercise in punching the wall really is something of extreme focus for Kratos. Hes punching that wall with the force of a man not breaking it but tempering himself
It was confirmed that the older Kratos gets, the stronger he is. He never got weaker. He's actually stronger than he was back when he was fighting the Greek gods. It's just that he holds back a lot.
At the end of Ragnarok when kratos tears up seeing the prophecy on the mural was the pivotal point where he actually let go of the past. Finally accepting that he deserves to be loved.
Almost. I think kratos is blown away that there is a path for him where he is loved but it's not him yet. He understands there is work to do invorder to be worthy of the future prophecy.
The thing about wall punching is, if someone does not get it yet, is Kratos focusing on holding back your emotions, power, everything. Because when you're powerful, a wall like that won't do much but what did the wall even do to you for it to receive your punch? So you attempt punch it but focus on stopping yourself at the last moment before your first touches the wall for it to not crumble.
The fact that Kratos can hold back from punching apart the house, the plot, ALONGSIDE THE REALM IT IS IN, is proof of his strength of will and discipline
Kratos tapped into a different power other than rage, it's the love for his son Atreus and the friends he made along the way. Faye knew he can change for the better and towards the end he told Atreus that he should open his heart which was the opposite of what he said in the first game. When he saw the Mural at the end of the game, Kratos was shocked that the people recognized him for the good he did rather than being known as a destructive monster. People can change no matter the tainted past they previously lived.
I think its more so the fact kratos holds back his anger because his base strength is definitely much weaker than kratos from the first 3 games where he was perpetually angry most of the time plus the fact he lost most of his weapons and magic from those games, and also the fact that kratos has different drives in the games in the og trilogy he was driven by vengeance but in the new games his driven by the protection of his son so he has no reason to go all out all the time unless its a life or death situation involving his son
@@tadrosse3786💀 It’s crazy how people be thinking some of these Norse gods defeat the Greek ones. I can understand Odin, Garm, MAYBE Tyr, defeating gods like Hermes or Helios, but absolutely no way can any of them beat gods like Hades or Athena or Ares.
I guess the egyptian Pantheon(if we get there) will be the biggest challenge of them all. We will probably see kratos lose control more than once or Kratos will die (yet again) for the final time, I think
Now imagine what would happen if Odin or Heimdal killed Atreus. Ragnarok would only be a minor inconvenience compared to what Kratos' uncontrollable rage would entail.
I think that Kratos's strength is situational. Normally, he's superhuman is his strength, but when needed, his strength can ramp up to superman levels (flipping a temple). THAT is one of his inherent god powers.
According to whats said by the devs and Kratos himself, He's physically stronger than he was in the greek triology, but he's lost the powers he gained in those times since those powers are connected to the land, which he destroyed
Thor and Zeus will be bosses in God of War Valhalla: ruclips.net/video/Di0OCy_ThbA/видео.html Watch my theory on how Kratos will have to fight his younger self in the new DLC: ruclips.net/video/66rEOetsm9k/видео.html
My theory is that he was passed the mantle of God of War when Ares was killed. So perhaps as long as he is in enraged in combat and not holding back, hence fufilling his moniker, he will continue to be at maximum strength. But, during times of peace or possessing an inner calm, he gets weaker since he is "cutting himself off" from the depths of his strength. I know Kratos is naturally strong being a demi-god and all even before becoming God of War, but perhaps obtaining the mantle pushed him further over the strength and power scale and maybe he's reverting back to his regular demi-god strength he always had, minus the "God of War" power boost, Plus, dude is just plain ol' getting old
technically speaking if you think about it, Kratos was never not a god after opening pandora's box. he became the 'god of hope' then and that power never left him.
Also i personally think greek kratos would have been able to kill heimdall with only the blades because that kratos does not think before attacking meaning heimdall wouldnt be able to read his mind
Notice how whenever Kratos gets beaten (best examples with the two Valkyries towards the end of Ragnarok) the game pops "Press for Spartan Rage" prompt and then Kratos just smashes everything? To me that is a game mechanic tied to the lore, whenever Kratos gets pushed into a corner he has the leverage to let his rage take over for a bit, until the danger is gone.
I think Kratos’ subconscious is making him hold back, mostly for the sake of saving Atreus. If they were to harm or kill him then Kratos would 100% resort to the old him, this time a millennium older and hyper battle experience. The Thor fight would definitely be a remake of Kratos vs Hercules
The new dlc they made is absolutely critical explaining this. Dealing with his past and finally over coming it and accepting it. Just made him even stronger
Doubt age is a factor but my honest opinion After he was tricked into killing his family it traumatized him he got his revenge but it didn't bring his family back But my personal thought is with his son being in danger his side comes out to protect not destroy But when atreus turned into a bear and Kratos not knowing almost killing it but when it turned out to be atreus that's when he I think was having flashbacks He's far from weak he's just tired
Kratos is always holding back, he has been holding back since he came to midgard. He probably fears all of that history he had will repeat once he loses it or just starts to not care.
None of Kratos' teammates will quit as long as they can still draw a breath. He has a different problem. Kratos feels like he lives like in a world made of cardboard. Always taking constant care not to break something; to break someone. Never allowing himself to lose control, even for a moment or someone could die. Kratos never had that rare opportunity to cut loose and show how powerful he really is. If that sounds familliar, it's a (loose) quote of Superman fighting Darkseid in the Justice League Unlimited show.
I believe it's both he's holding back and weaker. He's physically super powerful maybe even more so than his younger self but much weaker because he doesn't have a bunch of greek magic empowering him anymore as he's no longer in Greece and killed all the gods.
His great strength lies behind his rage, when he fights he tries so hard not to go there which is exhausting in itself. He lost his wife and kids because of his rage and a whole realm paid for it, he doesn’t want to go down that rabbit hole again.
I think whenever Atreus is in danger Kratos doesn't hold back and his son being in danger is what triggers him to use his true strength as a god of war too. He wants to do everything he can to keep his son safe from harm no matter what enemies come their way. I find it very admirable that Kratos wants to protect Atreus that way and it seems like Atreus wants to protect his father from getting hurt or in danger in the same way Kratos protects him. The bond between Kratos and Atreus as father and son is pretty much unbreakable and it's the center of both God Of War 2018 and God of War Ragnarok. The stories are amazing! Nice job with the video too!
For me Kratos had become wiser with age, not letting himself be carried away by anger, I speak from experience, when I was young I had a lot of trouble dealing with my anger, with age I will not say that I became wise, because that did not happen , but she does not have as much power over me as she used to , but every day is like fighting an addiction always filling my cup every time , And fighting the monster inside is exhausting , always demanding to take control .
Something that people fail to understand is that kratos was only able to kill Greece because of his immense rage he felt to avenge his family.but he doesn't have such anger anymore as he is now more calm and also cooler. That is why he seems to be getting weaker
base old kratos is canonically stronger, physically, sure not magically, but physically he is significantly stronger. theres no argument here, this is confirmed in dev interviews and books. greek gods also gain strength with age, connect the dots, stop using your opinion as objective fact.
After he kills heimdall Kratos looks around like he’s confused and doesn’t know where he is. Like slipping up and taking an old drug you were addicted to for years. That one slight mess up immediately brings you back to that place.
Kratos is not getting weaker from age, but rather from the strain of holding back. If anything, Kratos is getting stronger and stronger as he gets older. It's not really something to be concerned about because it's him learning to become more Human again as time goes on while also growing as a god. Ares knew that Kratos is at his strongest when he is angry and Kratos has an extremely nasty temper, a temper that never goes away but with age and experience he's more restrained. it's apparent that the Greek Gods were far worse than the Norse as only Heimdall managed to fully bring out the old Kratos, something many of the other Norse Gods failed to completely do so. While the Greek Gods were both more callous and Kratos far more temperamental, making it extremely easy for Kratos to snap and brutally murder them.
The way that this story evolved along the time it's just amazing to the point where the characters expressions become so realistic as if it was a movie is so deep
Kratos never got weaker, in fact he got a hell of a lot stronger he’s been holding back the entire damn time he doesn’t want to use his full power that’s the entire point

True reason he was 50years old in gow 3 now he is 1055years old i know he is a greatest god of all time but still living 13 longer then average mortal human He is very old man
He's definitely holding back. Like Superman. Also, he's afraid to go back to his old self if he really let loose. Also, I read somewhere Greek gods get stronger the older they get.

I always saw the Kratos we get in the Norse saga is the ‘default’ level of strength he naturally has, without all those powers, special god forged equipment and augmentations he got during his fight against Zeus and Olympus.
He did releas the power of Hope after killing Zeus, so yeah, for a fact he's weaker then before and managed to show HIS True power of a Demigod, cause he didn't lose the blessing of Ares and the power Ares gave him
I hope in next gow game atreus too become like young kratos ( a Lil bit) so that our present kratos will not supress his emotions at hard times while fighting other gods like thor and in next will be the egypt gods ( i think) so kratos dont hold back while fighting with them.
This is so spot on. I know exactly how exhausting it can be to try and restrain oneself. Kratos is doing everything in the last 2 games with weights that can be heavy even for a god. And coincidentally, having these weights are also making him stronger as he climbs metaphorical mountains. Gods speed to anyone he faces without the weights.
Kratos is now stronger than ever he's just holding back because he doesn't want to go back to be the person he was back then which ended the entire pantheon so obviously he is stronger now he even told that himself when odin came to visit kratos in svartalfheim "Kratos said return my son or you meet the god i once was '' so this line alone is enough for us to know that he's holding back the entire game both in 4 and ragnarok he made norse gods look weak (Thor ,Heimdal and even Odin Too ) He beated all of them without even trying '' Just like thor said this lesser version of you '' That lesser version of him is even stronger than the entire norse pantheon sooo
Emotions are very complex and hard to know what exactly they are. Some say they lose control because of emotions or split personality so to say. I always seeked better understanding of myself. What if emotions are driven by sub conscious that we store inside of buried thoughts? What if we could direct our sub con mindset to different goal. I'm a grown up male that still seeks for anwsers, but I came long way of who I am now and I am proud of it.

@@Honor_and_Steel exactly also they showed it perfectly with the heimdall fight at the end aswell.
Good thing that Kratos is getting better at harnessing his rage. He will be able to let it out in controlled bursts.
@@Honor_and_Steel
Imagine how hard he was fighting just to reel himself back in.
Kratos wrote Thor's pure strength of punch was the biggest he ever faced, but i wouldnt say he meant Thor as the strongest foe ever
Kratos' combos were far better too. L1+Square or triangle cleared crowds.
1. Odin
2. Old Kratos
3. Thor
4. Freya
5. Young Kratos
6. Zeus
I think its similar to how Atreus got sick because he didn't know he was a god. Not acepping ones godly powers seems to weaken the god or at least Atreus and Kratos.
Valid point, my friend!
@darksage2233He lost, Thor was pinned down and Kratos no doubt would have decapitated him right there if it weren’t for his character development
Also if you activate the rage meter in second fight mimir will say "stay in control of it brother"
Meaning kratos has learned to use his rage effectively
@@tadrosse3786 he wouldnt haver lmao. thor also held kratos back
@@Mega-MunchHate to be that guy but Kratos did lose. Thor effectively killed Kratos but resucitated him with the hammer
I think the difference is that in Greek era, his rage made him the god slayer he was, but in Norse era, he did'nt need the rage, but was more calculating warrior. That's maybe why he was a little weaker, because he setteled down, and let go of his rage, but stayed as calculating warrior
This is exactly what im thinking kratos is still beast but without anger or rage fueling him he is warrior with calm mind but not savage like he use to be
@@allesantos369 Nope. Kratos is confirmed stronger than in GoW3 or previous games because greek gods get stronger with time. He is just holding back
Not weaker he’s still stronger by miles without rage than what he was with rage in gow3 he was 55 in gow3 now he’s 1055 in ragnorok Greek gods get stronger as they age he could one shot his old self with ease and said by Kratos Thor is the strongest opponent he’s faced could’ve meant just in the 9 realms but we don’t know
Kratos already answered this question in the comic book DLC that accompanied GOW 2018. He answers it every time he teaches Atreus about self-control. Kratos definitely is holding back.
Cope, he has gotten weaker.
The devs said multiple times he's significantly stronger than he was in gow3. He's not weaker he's just not a revenge driven machine anymore
probably doesn't help that the gods of the norse realm are much more effective warriors too than his greek bretheren.
implication seems to be if kratos stuck to his old ways he'd have been slain by thor too.
The real reason is the video but he doesn't say that his rage fuels his power he took his own power source away which is why he's weaker but hes not at the same time
Edit: this is confirmed by the devs
Kratos is much more stronger now as a person then to his younger years.

@@lucas29210he holds back, that's what makes him better and stronger
@@lucas29210 He meant self control wise. OFC he is no where near his prime, he is 1000 years old m8.
Cant blaim him my man lost 2 wives and a kid that takes alot mentally wise
Wow
To put simple, I think he just doesn’t want to be known as a God Killing monster, to be more than just a monster. In his own words, to be better. He never grew tired in the past, because his rage kept driving him forward. He’s older and wiser now, he knows when and where he needs to battle or turn away, how to hold back to avoid senseless killing. He’s not as brutal as he used to be, he was far worse in past games. Now it’s more like he’s quick and efficient, applying power where it’s needed.
One of the developers said, old Kratos is stronger but young Kratos is deadlier.

That an the loss of his magic but other than that he's only getting stronger
and the loss of the magics of greece too. power seem to work different between realms.
Source? Where was it confirmed?
At the end of Ragnarok when kratos tears up seeing the prophecy on the mural was the pivotal point where he actually let go of the past. Finally accepting that he deserves to be loved.
Almost. I think kratos is blown away that there is a path for him where he is loved but it's not him yet. He understands there is work to do invorder to be worthy of the future prophecy.
so i looked it up and it says "the older a god gets, the stronger they are" but poor kratos is just old
The thing about wall punching is, if someone does not get it yet, is Kratos focusing on holding back your emotions, power, everything. Because when you're powerful, a wall like that won't do much but what did the wall even do to you for it to receive your punch? So you attempt punch it but focus on stopping yourself at the last moment before your first touches the wall for it to not crumble.
Basically, he's challenging himself to not dent it while still hitting hard enough to make a thud lol.
that’s actually super impressive if you think about it like punching a punching bag hard enough to make a sound but not hard enough to make it swing
Man gave Kratos heat cuz he took a nap😂😂😂

I think its more so the fact kratos holds back his anger because his base strength is definitely much weaker than kratos from the first 3 games where he was perpetually angry most of the time plus the fact he lost most of his weapons and magic from those games, and also the fact that kratos has different drives in the games in the og trilogy he was driven by vengeance but in the new games his driven by the protection of his son so he has no reason to go all out all the time unless its a life or death situation involving his son

Watch my theory on how Kratos will have to fight his younger self in the new DLC: ruclips.net/video/66rEOetsm9k/видео.html
I know Kratos is naturally strong being a demi-god and all even before becoming God of War, but perhaps obtaining the mantle pushed him further over the strength and power scale and maybe he's reverting back to his regular demi-god strength he always had, minus the "God of War" power boost, Plus, dude is just plain ol' getting old
Interesting theory
But my good fellow, he has the properties of Greek Gods. I don't think he can get older really nor he shows the signs of it anywhere on his body.
"Dude is just plain ol' getting old"
Cory Barlog confirmed that Old Kratos (Norse games) is stronger then Young Kratos in the Greek era.
technically speaking if you think about it, Kratos was never not a god after opening pandora's box.
he became the 'god of hope' then and that power never left him.
Bro became wiser and learned to control his emotions.
Also i personally think greek kratos would have been able to kill heimdall with only the blades because that kratos does not think before attacking meaning heimdall wouldnt be able to read his mind
Good point lol
Yes but that means old kratos is a more versatile warrior who is capable of adjusting his plan according to the conditions
Exactly. Head empty, only rage

I believe it's both he's holding back and weaker. He's physically super powerful maybe even more so than his younger self but much weaker because he doesn't have a bunch of greek magic empowering him anymore as he's no longer in Greece and killed all the gods.
Stronger now
His great strength lies behind his rage, when he fights he tries so hard not to go there which is exhausting in itself.
He lost his wife and kids because of his rage and a whole realm paid for it, he doesn’t want to go down that rabbit hole again.
My god take a pause instead of inhaling like that. You'll pass out

In the same time he is the one that know when he need to use all of his powers

False. Kratos can tap into that rage at any time.
base old kratos is canonically stronger, physically, sure not magically, but physically he is significantly stronger. theres no argument here, this is confirmed in dev interviews and books. greek gods also gain strength with age, connect the dots, stop using your opinion as objective fact.
