Lots of old timers in the Deep South call crappie 'white perch'. I'd bet money the guy on the bank was crappie fishing. The rain didn't miss us in S. Alabama...rivers are WAY out of their banks, right now! Stay safe!
So glad to see a new video from John and Creek Fishing Adventures. While the snow melts here today I can enjoy watching John fish. In about 3 months I'll be out there...but oh enjoy watching John fish! Seriously! And as a Christian I look forward to God's Word at the end of the video!
Hey John....nice to see you in my area doing some shoalie fishing. Fished there a few times and last year caught a 5 lb bowfin in that same oxbow. That's what we call those arms that go off the main river....oxbow. Just downstream there are a few more. I catch most of my shoalies on the main river but this time a year you can catch them in slack water where there are no shoals or rocks. I'm slamming this year too. If you want an Altamaha Bass just pm me. I have place I caught some nice ones last year.
There are some good places in NE Georgia that are a lot closer to you and have some big shoal bass and spots above Lake Lanier. The walleye and stripers will be running up the rivers soon!
I grew up near the the Flint River, on the Kinchafoonee Creek a tributary in Southwest Georgia. There are some incredibly beautiful stretches of the river that are also great places to fish for Shoalies. I’d recommend a trip to Sprewell Bluff Park in Upson County near Thomaston and just below Lake Blackshear at Warwick Dam. The only other river systems in Georgia with Shoal Bass are the Chattahoochee and Ocmulgee. The new state record was just caught on the Chattahoochee just below Columbus, Georgia.
I love the flint river man tons of multi species most of my short clips are based around the flint awsome to see someone so weel know. Fishing my spota
SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!! I am so glad to see that you were able to get your target fish...THE SHOAL BASS!!!! And of course it always good to have some variety thrown in. Another great video John. And i am glad to see other people recognize you from other states. Confirmation that you are doing exactly what God wants you to be doing. Keep up the good work sir.
Still trying to thaw out from the snow and ice I love the look of those shoal bass One more species that I will just have to catch through you John never will get down that way again Always enjoy and appreciate your videos thanks for posting them God bless
I really enjoyed the video I'm glad you are getting out making videos and nice weather instead of sitting at the house doing nothing I would really like to see more white bass on light tackle that would be fun
Those shoal bass look pretty neat. As for "white perch" vs white bass - those were definitely white bass. There is a related species called white perch, that is common to the eastern seaboard, but only as far south as South Carolina - apparently they aren't found in waters draining to the Gulf. I'm wondering if those Georgians using the term "white perch" mean crappie - that's the regional name for them in Mississippi and north Louisiana. In south Louisiana they're called "sac-a-lait", literally "bag of milk" in French....too many regional names for fish.
@@bulldog7196 I have heard of them, but I've never caught one; I think they're pretty much limited to the Flint, and perhaps the Chattahoochee - there are some really neat, isolated species of bass.
@@ianjones6910 It's really cool to learn about new species at 54 years old! Never heard of a coosa bass until subscribing to this channel. I've been fishing my entire life but recently moved to Tennessee. I had no idea there were Muskie here until watching this channel!!! I'm an old creek fisherman and I'm so excited about finding this channel. Can't wait to catch my first ever smallmouth.
A great video John i have always wanted to fish that river also. Yes go back again i know Aaron would love to try it. God bless you and your family John......🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤😀🙂😊
Nice to see you on our Georgia rivers. If you ever get a chance - the Ocmulgee river even further south has some large Shoal Bass in it. We've caught them upwards of 6-7lb rarely in there but many in the 3-4lb range. And they fight hard!
My day is always better when you drop a new video. There are so many beautiful places in your neck of the woods. I hope to see it for myself this summer. Keep up the great work John. You are helping alot of us get through this cold winter.
I know exactly where your fishing 🎣 at. Excellent place just on the outskirts of Fort Valley Ga. I always wanted to fish the Flint River. Excellent fishing video . I
Nice little GA trip on a whim. Have to add Shoal Bass to my bucket list, thanks brother. Great ramp recon, info gathering and Intel. Like in the 3rd Raiders of the Lost Ark..this old knight says you chose wisely! Blessings John
gooood mornin....... Oh yeah, waiting to see how long before you put the Helgramite on. lol Looks like a white bass/white perch/hybrid kinda fish to me. Wooohhh we saw it but that was about it. Hit right at the boat. Nice Shoal Bass. it sure looked like that second one hit it a couple of times. Thanks for taking us along. it was fun.
Dude thats so cool i live on lake lanier if you wanna fish! I have access to a dock and a bunch of trails that lead to a bunch of bass and panfish and stripper! We also have pike and walleye
If you want to catch some slab crappie, go to Price Creek on Lamont ville road, if you kayak, paddle down to the bend in the creek and fish towards the right bank, you can spot fish along the way also. Great fishing, Make a video!!
This was a pretty awesome video! I caught a two pound spotted bass a few days ago but mostly panfish lately! I still love catching panfish they are really awesome especially when the bass aren’t biting!
Here in NW Ohio we have both White Bass and White Perch The White Perch sort of look like a White Bass BUT they are missing the black lines on most of the body Also they have a lavender hue to some areas on them White Bass seem to only feed on minnows But the White Perch will also feed on worms So in the spring a good number of people will target the white perch as they are easy to catch

Next time your down in mid-south Ga, I have some awesome ponds I get 6lb out of. I grew up by the flint river in Crawford/upson county side, big gators in there too lol. Hit me up. God bless.
I'm getting a little bit jealous of what you do nowadays, John. I hope to get into RUclips someday if I can work around my job schedule. It's never too late to start. I want to try to be successful in making fishing videos. Seems like a lot of fun.
Well that was a pretty good video John, you got a lotta nice fish, I know you're wearing a t-shirt but it looks cold I guess cuz the trees didn't have any leaves on them, muddy river first thing came to mind was catfish, man I can't even remember the last time I caught white or yellow perch that's how long it's been
Thanks for this video John. Really needed on a cold East Tennessee day! You're getting pretty famous being recognized in south Georgia.. Boy I Knew you when............lol
Yes, only one of the stripes extends out to the tail on a white bass. Wherr it gets somewhat more difficult is when a striped bass mixes with white bass and you have a hybrid. Dorsal fin separation is another key indicator of white bass.
Looks like a good trip I noticed that Dixie custom rod they are awesome man I have two of them and Dewayne makes a quality product and stands by it also was curious if your fishing the smallmouth king tournament in June in East tn
you attack this river well from the get go - good to see you getting out - you know where the craw just kills? spillways - do a spillways series - go to most diverse river basins as we start to get into spring #highway 61
the crankbait cleaned house - you should get a fish painter and try the bigger southern rivers for smallmouth/musky #reprise #khz #points #stacked on structure
Nice video John,. I know exactly where you were at and those were definitely white bass,. There should not be any white perch in there (unless illegally introduced) as white perch are only native to streams flowing into the Atlantic. Those white bass are coming out of Lake Blackshear to spawn . My guess is the locals call white bass the wrong name. And that water is up a little bit
I did the research. A white perch is a perch that looks like a walley and crappie all together as one. You would've totally noticed the difference in face and the white perch only has a single line running through it just like how some walleye have or like a snook line.
@@CreekFishingAdventures Yeah, I also never realized those were shoal bass, we catch those up here in Minnesota and people just call them smallmouth but I've always noticed the lizard or snake like design and mentioned it.
