    PLEASE make one final Lethal Weapon movie! The fact that Donner, Gibson and Glover are discussing it is amazing and a joy to hear! All three of them are cinema legends and it would be terrific to see a fifth and final movie. The fourth one had some good moments but was ultimately my least favorite of the four, so if they can make a part five that's closer in tone to the original, this could be something great. None of them are too old BTW. It's not as if they have to do 100% of what their characters did previously, and they could be captains of their departments or one of them retired etc, with this movie being more on the thriller side and less on the action side. Most of the stunts in the first movie are stunts that they could still do today, light running, a punch here and there, shooting, ducking etc. Mel doesn't have to do all the hard falls and jumps anymore, and if it's written into the script, clever editing with stunt men can accomplish this. I'd aim for a Lethal Weapon 1 approach to the action and for the tone, and not something like part 4. Play it straight, not for laughs, don't kill Murtaugh or Riggs, keep Lorna out of the movie or in only a couple of scenes, keep Pesci out of it unless it's a cameo from Leo in one scene, and just make it like the first one or first two movies. Fingers crossed this goes forward with a decent enough script, because cinema needs it! Riggs and Murtaugh are two of the best characters ever on screen, and Donner returning to direct would be epic! :)

    A perfect pitch for "Lethal Weapon 5". Murtaugh's son, Nick, is a detective who is called to the scene of a crime where Riggs' son (fresh out of the academy) is holed up at the scene next to a dead partner as shots are being fired. Nick and Riggs' son take down the relative of a crime boss and are then contracted to be killed along with their family. Riggs and Murtaugh (long retired) are now called back into action as they have to find a way to void the contract by finding the boss and possibly killing him or her.

    • @uosdwiSrdewoH
      @uosdwiSrdewoH Год назад

      You're probably right. Mel has had a rough go in no small part due to his father being a horrible SOB who screwed Mel up for life. Yet he managed to come out of it and focus that energy into his acting which is why there's such a weight to Riggs especially. He's got a lot of bad stuff to pull from. But there's a kindness to him as well. Look at his relationship with Robert Downey Jr. They worked together on Air America in 1990. Both of them had already had their own issues with alcohol and/or drugs which probably created the foundation for their relationship and knowing what the other is dealing with. Robert Downey Jr was already a star on the rise. He was Oscar nominated for Chaplin in 1992. But his demons started catching up with him. There was a time when he was almost unhireable. Not just because of his reputation with drugs but you need insurance to work on a movie and nobody would give it to him because they thought he was a risk to relapse which would mean they'd lose their money because it's paid back to the producers as compensation if the movie gets screwed up. Mel was producing a movie called 'The Singing Detective'. He not only hired RDJ for the lead role he paid for his insurance out of his own pocket. He trusted that his friend would make it through. He did. A few years later RDJ is in Iron Man. It goes the other way too. When Jon Favreau stepped down as director of Iron Man 3, RDJ was considering leaving if he didn't get someone he approved of. One of the first people discussed at the time was Mel Gibson. RDJ wanted to return the kindness. Unfortunately Mel was in a lot of trouble at that point and Disney had to step in because they didn't want to be associated with Mel at that time which is why Shane Black got the job. Mel has struggled but he's still working and even though Richard Donner passed away he's supposed to be directing the final Lethal Weapon movie which means it could be something pretty incredible if Mel still has the chops.

    I can see that he's wearing a hair concealer. It actually looks pretty good. Toppik and Caboki are good products. I know two people who use them, and there are of course others.
    Anyway, Mel is a great talent. Looks good, acting and directing as well as ever.

    I can see a LW5 working nicely with the right script. Obviously we're 20 years down the line from the last one- a point at which both lead characters were closing in on retirement. It would be great to see the 2 officers retired and having experienced a period of peace and family time. The plot could focus on a traumatic event, possibly a recently resurfaced loose end from their past, that draws them back into the fold, possibly as honorary or advisory roles to the LAPD. Of course to start with, the younger officers will balk at having a couple of old geezers in tow, but they soon learn the old war horses still know how to kick ass and get stuff done, old school style.

    I hope you're not kidding about Lethal Weapon 5. I saw all four movies: Murtaugh and Riggs are not retired, so they can go on. I would love to see more of Raj's family, and we can see if a Lethal Weapon 6 is in the cards.

    You can say whatever you want about Mr. Mel Gibson past odd behavior but there is no doubt this man is, as far I am concerned, a Cinema glory, maybe one of the best the movie business has ever seen.!!! Hat off to you Mr. Gibson.

    If they are about to make a 5th film they'd better hurry. Donnor is almost 90 and Gibson and Glover aren't getting any younger too.

    Richard Dinner confirmed that he is directing Lethal Weapon 5 and Gibson and Glover will return. It's also the last one. I'm under the assumption that a script is already written. The ONLY obstacle is Warner Bros greenlighting the film.
