Can't believe how under-rated this game was. I still believe this was easily THE best looking game of its time.. and the production values.. the soundtrack.. for a game to have all of this in around 2003 should be a remarkable achievement.. Definitely one of the hidden gems of the PS2.
I had a accident back in early 2008 which left me paralyzed from the chest. But whenever I play this game it reminds me of my early teen and walking days.
This game was the first PS2 game i played, I had no Memory Card stick and i used to replay it everytime from the first mission, I just can't believe, it's been 12 years, best game ever.
This game was way ahead of its time. In every aspect. It's good to see that people appreciate it fully for what it was. A lot of people didn't get to finish it due to the high difficulty, especially in the later missions, but damn was it a solid story all the way around. Fantastic writing and characters, mixed with some mind blowing tech for when it came out. When developers were truly dedicated to the craft, instead of mulling over how they can weasel in micro-transactions.

This is one of the best games I have ever played. They even took photos of all the shops in London. It's incredible how underrated this game was. Even the Spanish Voices have never been matched nowadays. HD remaster is a must.
They don't make games like this anymore. Class storyline, great gameplay and at the time, graphics were belta. The game lasted ages as well, got you gripped with the whole storyline, knew who was who and what was what. Even the Getaway 2 was good.
***** a couple years back it was announced that Getaway 3 was in development along with another game called eight days. The two games were cancelled a year later. and then later on it was confirmed that it wasn't cancelled but the state the game was in wasn't specified. This was back in 2012-2013 I think don't really remember. But in case you didn't know the original makers of the getaway series merged with Team bondi who made L.A Noire, Team Bondi later went under and the team dispersed. We may never get the Getaway 3.
What a great game. I remember playing it for first time when i was 16-ish. Dark atmosphere, amazing soundtrack, sick jokes from time to time and that simple story but amazingly well written which made it so fucking interesting. I bloody miss Team Soho
I remember playing this game when it first came out, and it was incredible, way ahead of it's time. It's not until I watch it back now that I realise there are so many references to Londons criminal underworld that I would not have understood back then. I.e "Charlie" as in Charlie Richardson, - the electrocution torture - as in the Richardson Gang (torture gang), Ronnie and Reggie get a mention, Harry the Hat - Jack the Hat McViti and other subtle references throughout. So many legends and ideologies in this, a lot of east end legends all thrown into one game. Charlie in this actually reminds me of Dave Courtney a little bit haha! Great vid, very nostalgic. Thanks :)
even back then - the graphics were revolutionary, the cars, the streets.. everything. You could even put the constant cloudy weather being down to the whole of the action taking place during the course of one morning and an afternoon

I really liked Frank Carter, though. I also liked Charlie Jolson (he was probably the best bit about this game). I thought Black Monday was 10x better than this game. I thought the characters were better and I thought they were also more likeable. Eddie O’ Connor (the boxer) was phenomenal. I thought the gameplay on Black Monday was miles better. It wasn’t even a comparison for me. I thought the soundtrack on Black Monday was better. The thing that I also disliked about this game was the fact that there was no map to look at. Half the time you didn’t know where you were going. I thought Black Monday had a better story (I know loads of people will disagree with me on that, but that’s what I think). The only thing I thought this game did better than Black Monday was the graphics, that’s about it. I thought Black Monday was an upgrade from the first game in every other way.
