- In this video, I show you how I cleaned my shower using a simple DIY solution of Dawn and vinegar. It was my first time trying this cleaning combination and I was so surprised at how incredibly effective this is for deep cleaning. I will definitely be using this cleaning solution from now on.

We don't have Dawn dish soap here in the UK but I have tried it with our equivalent Fairy Liquid and and also an Eco brand of dish soap and I agree with you, it works amazing.

I’ve only ever used vinegar to clean, hard water area. I don’t bother with dish soap. Just wipe down with neat white vinegar and rinse. I do all the tiles too.

Great idea. Here's another tip, once the glass is sparkling clean apply Showroom Shine car cleaner to the glass and buff with a cloth. This makes the glass water resistant. I then reapply Showroom Shine every four to six weeks.

RainX for car windscreens will work too, but you will still get marks if you have hard water with either. Okay in soft water areas. I just use a wipe down with neat vinegar every so often to remove the limescale.
It's not just the glass doors, it's the entire shower stall -- you just can't see it. Use that solution on every surface of the inside of your shower.
Oh yes I ended up cleaning my entire shower and countertops/sinks afterward. Love it.
I’ve been using Dawn and vinegar as a bathroom cleaner for years. I leave a spray bottle and sponge in the shower and use it after every shower. My shower and glass door are absolutely like new.

Yes, you obviously live in a hard water area, so dish soap and vinegar are the way to go.
Be careful not to leave the solution on too long and to rinse throughly, if you’ve sprayed onto metal pieces in the bathroom, so that the acidic vinegar doesn’t damage them. I once completely forgot to rinse my taps off and metalic coating has bubbled a little bit. It’s perfectly OK if you rinse everything properly though.

Yes you are right. I am just really bad at using a squeegee on a regular basis. 🤷♀️
The vinegar helps to breakdown hard water minerals. This mixture doesn't smell toxic. Don't use it on any natural stone surfaces, but it will clean everything in the house. Try scrubbing out the kitchen sink with it!!
I will give it a try. I usually use dawn and baking soda in my kitchen sink. I’ll see if adding the vinegar makes a difference. Thanks for watching.

I use baking soda with vinegar to clean glass vases. You definitely want to give it some space to do its “volcano “ thing, lol.

The last great tip I tried was Bar Keepers Friend (liquid) for the shower doors and it did NOT work. This DOES and I am so grateful!
Scotch Brite has an extendable wand/scrubber that makes scrubbing shower so easy! I checked and they have one on Amazon.

That was my exact experience as well. I had heard about it years ago and thought it was a trendy cleaning hack in the same way I hear about people mopping their floors with dishwasher tablets. I was so wrong! It is definitely worth giving it a shot. Thanks so much for watching!
In Alaska boats are not allowed to use Dawn soap because of the effect that particular soap has on the environment. They spread it over oil spills to dissipate the sheen in the water. There is a huge fine if you have an oil spill of any size. SO dawn does work well, just remember this stuff is going into our water supply and we will end up drinking it eventually
Curious what dish soap would you suggest?
In a professional cleaner. A few suggestions for you.
1. Use a squeegee when done showing and your glass won't get that bad. Takes a minute or so and the cleaning load will be lightened.
2. Bio clean to remove the hard water spots. It puts a coating on the glass that lasts for 2-3 months and build up won't happen
3.; for weekly cleaning use Ecolab's shower, tub & tile cleaner with vinegar and the shower for will always sparkle.
You won't have spots and steaks left over

I use this cleaning solution for everything that needs cleaning in bathrooms, kitchen, fridge in&out, microwave. I'm going to try cleaning out my car.
I just used it in my fridge the other day when i wiped it down. Made the glass so sparkly. It’s my new favorite cleaner
Welcome to the vinegar & Dawn cleaning club! My mix is 1c vinegar and 3/4c Dawn (plain blue), first used it several years ago on a horrid shower pan and it's been my bathroom go-to ever since.

This mixture is also a great dog shampoo! It kills fleas and rinses clean easily.

I have never had the glass screen on my shower like this. Every time the shower is used I wipe down all the walls with a sponge and then spray ‘shower spray’ on the glass and squeegee, finishing with a microfibre cloth for any little splashes I’ve missed. For the chrome I wipe down with a sponge and shine with a microfibre cloth. I also spray the shower base with bathroom ‘spray, wipe, done’ and use a long handle squeegee to clear into the drain. I rarely do the big clean because it’s a 5 minute job after each shower use. If I have family or friends staying either they do it or I go in after and do it. I also do this with the bathroom sink and tap to keep them sparkly and grime free too.
Awesome job Fred. You definitely win the gold in shower cleaning. 👏 As for me there are 3 of us that use this shower on a daily basis and there’s no way I’m doing all of that 3 times a day. 🤣 I’d rather just do a weekly clean.

My friend has a glass shower and she uses a squeegee after each shower and still has soap scum on the glass. She pays me to clean her apartment. I am not a fan of cleaning glass shower doors! I will try using dawn and white vinegar. I used bar keepers friend to clean the glass shower. That was a lot of scrubbing and took hours to clean! Your method looks a lot easier and quicker!
@@whatever3933 Yes! I also had tried bar keepers friend, pink stuff, and tons of other cleaners. Nothing ever really worked that great. This was quick, easy and easy. I really think you will enjoy it. Let me know if you try it.
I use this but also add a little lemon juice and it works great

How much dawn did you add to the vinegar?
I did 1/2 cup but honestly you could probably get away with 1/4 cup. 1/2 cup was very soapy.
Question: what do you use to clean the shower drain?
I use the same cleaner on the shower drain that I used for the rest of the shower. I use a hard bristled scrub brush to clean the shower floor along with the drain.

Considering the effects of cleaners on your skin, which is the largest organ and is immediately absorbed into the skin, but using this where it is vaporized, I'd like to know the long-term effects.
There's enough cancer and autoimmune issues around and I'm fighting hard to eliminate all the risks.
If the EWG rating is a huge concern for you then yes I would advise against using this. For me I am fine with using dawn in my home.
@@CrystalCleannnn Yes, I'd say cancer and autoimmune issues are a big concern. It's best to learn about these things while you're young. I was sick for 7 years and I used products like this.

I think you should read a little into why it works, just like many of the other homemade cleaners. It's not weird, it's basic chemistry. Many many other youtubers have discussed that at length for years. Your video is not bad but you need more original content if you want to grow.
