Pro tip for vanilla attempts at this challenge, if you’re worried about forgetting where the line is due to mob attacks and other such distractions then consider using your shovel to make path blocks every now and then, the entire line doesn’t need to be traced out but two or three within render distance can help to keep things ‘in line’ *ba’dum’ts*
also another thing that he should've included in the video: the coordinates. helps seeing if he was walking the same line as either the X or Z would remain unchanged

I think an interesting mutation to this challenge would be that you can walk in all four directions from spawn coordinate. That would at least allow for a little bigger spawn base, which can also be spread out over several floors. Another change could be that you get to freely move around and build on your spawn chunk, but you cannot dig below the surface, and outside of spawn chunk you can move in all four directions from spawn coordinate and dig down unrestricted. That would allow for a bit more creative building of mini farms and such, because if you can only move on one line, you tend to avoid any unneccessary building and rush the story line.
Worth noting, several floors in a single straight line is still possible! Either with a ladder on the wall that you can edge past (you could use fences for the other wall to get more room), or scaffolding

my first encounter with wadzees channel was actually the beginning of the melon farm, and I'm so glad to see this channel rise and become what it is
Great skill with the Fishing Rod, and the Water Bucket. I tried a similar challenge on Bedrock (so I could see my coordinates) and I started with a starter chest. My rule was to get to the starter chest, pick a direction, then dig down to 63 and stay on 63. I quickly had to change rules when the creeper blew me off course, or when my crafting table drifted away when I broke it. So, I'd stand on top of my bed or crafting table (elevation 64) and break it so it wouldn't fly away. Also, placing block in front of me was a handy thing in Bedrock, making crossing oceans possible -- but that's what finally got me, 6000 blocks of ocean.
Wadzee, the amount of time you put in your videos makes me have the utmost respect for you. I been following your RUclips journey for some time now, and the content you post is simply in words I cannot explain. You make even things in minecraft not impossible if you put the work into it. You're an inspiration and a legend Wadzee.

If you aren't already, you should look into getting a modder to make this a legit mod. Im thinking the best way to implement it would be to have it so when you load into a dimension (overworked, nether, or end) you cant move until you set your line. This would give you options. As for keeping you on your line, have an invisible wall that other entities can pass through, but not you. And on hard core mode, have it so you take damage if you step off the line

with the water bottle you found @9:37 you could have filed up a cauldron and then fill up a bucket with water so that if you found a lava pool you could easily made a nether portal
I just want wads to narrate my Minecraft to keep me going. I could watch him for hours
As the video comes close to an end, I would like to say that this video gave me an idea.
Then with my idea, imagine trying to get all advancements (note to self). It should be possible, “being a slice of a normal world”. I think that last bit might give a bit too much away but oh well.

I tried this in Bedrocks in hard and if you died once you have to stop. Went great but we can’t do the fishing rod trick. Think I may give this another go myself in 1.18.
