- Today I played minecraft, but I can't leave this chunk. This journey starts in this very first chunk, but as the series continues the world border will slowly grow and unlock more of the world. This is day 1 of this new series, meaning this is Minecraft, but there's only ONE CHUNK!

wait, you were trying to have a source of food with water, however you could have made a compost barrel and used the bones you collected to grow crops.
Also could have planted the wheat when it was raining
Wadzee just wanted to let you know that you can in fact grow crops without water, as long as you plant them as fast as possible so the tilled dirt doesn’t turn back into dirt obvs, the crop will just grow very slowly.

pretty sure you SHOULDN'T break the cauldrons, any water amount that they could have saved (even if not visible) will be lost when you break them. just leave them be, and eventually they'll fill up!
and you can still grow crops without water, they just won't be as fast
they dont gain water passively it's basically completely random and when a cauldron has any water inside of it you will be able to see it. Breaking a cauldron without water visible inside of it does nothing really.

If you put crops on nonhydrated soil it will still grow, but when you harvest it it will turn into dirt
Not to mention rain also hydrates the farmland if he was so worried about it

I don't blame Wadzee for thinking he couldn't grow without water, because if you're one of the Minecraft OG's from when the game first came out you'll remember that tilled land actually used to break and become regular dirt if you did it anywhere without water.
It still does turn into dirt, but if you plant crops it doesn't turn to dirt even if there's no water (I think).
I thought it still did. Now I feel old.😂

You can still be able to harvest crops with or without water. You only need to till the dirt and plant the seed before it reverts back into dirt. And growing crops without water is a lot slower compared to with water.

You might just need that when you get to the episode(s) where the border is about 2x2 or 3x3 chunks. One chunk is way easier than 2x2 or 3x3 because at least at 1x1 nothing bad can spawn at the same height you're at so you have to go up or down to run into the insane mob hordes.
or he can light the place up and force the spawns wherever he wants, into some closed farm as well

When you do get a water source, you can make a fishing pole with your string and fish while your crops grow. You get more food, and you might get a bottle of water. Three bottles from your original source in a cauldron makes a second source, which then sets you up for infinite water.

You can't fish in a 1x1 piece of water, the only thing you'd get is maybe a stick every 10 minutes.
All you need is one bottle, and refill from the block of water

This gives me memories from when i was really young, two german youtubers did this challenge together and thats why it gives me memories of the best time of my life, the time i discovered minecraft (when i found it-some years after i found it)
Fact: during that time i was able to hear where a sound came from without wearing anything, the thing was when i heard the sound from left it was right and if it came from the right it was left, another thing was i was great at finding resources, when i cam across a resource i mined it and then continued where i felt was the next resource and i was always right. I was just a natural at mining because you really just need to know where caves and ores are

You can grow crops on farmland, without water. Even in the nether. So wasting your very limited amount of iron on cauldrons, was a really bad move. And not farming food, was a even bigger mistake.
The only limitations on farming without water, are two:
1. Some crops go through the growth stages slower, on dry farmland, than on hydrated farmland.
2. When you harvest your crops, and don't plant a new seedling fast enough, contrary to hydrated farmland, the dry farmland might randomly revert back to dirt, and needs to be tilled again.
Since dry farmland randomly reverts back to dirt from dryness, only if there is NO seed planted in it, you can easily avoid this, by replanting quickly. That also means, that you never will loose a seed or crop, when farming without water, since with a seed planted, farmland stays farmland forever. And even when a block reverts to dirt between harvest an replanting, that is no problem, since hoes for tilling don't use much resources and wood hoes are completely renewable. That also means, that melon and pumpkins farms, have no problem with that at all, since the plant stays in the farmland, if you harvest the fruit.
Farmland reverting to dirt from jumping on it, vertically moving it with a piston, or when a block ends up on it, is no different for dry or hydrated farmland.
Also farmland gets hydrated, when it rains, so crops will grow faster during and a while after it rains. So replanting a non-irrigated big field, might be a bit easier during rain.
On past minecraft versions, I have done farming without water, countless times in the nether and also occasionly in the end and overworld and never had a problem with it. So I'm pretty sure, about what I wrote above. If they didn't change something in a newer minecraft version, that should still work, as described above. And as far as I am aware, there was nothing changed around farmland, for several minecraft versions.
Also on another note: In case you eat rotten flesh, it is better to collect enough of them to fill your hunger bar completely, before you eat them. Otherwise, you loose a unnecessarily high amount of hunger bar from the hunger effect, that you get in 80% of the cases of eating rotten flesh. Since the hunger effect, does not stack, you get much more hunger bar and invisible saturation bar fill-up from your rotten flesh, if you eat all at once. Since health regen is determined by saturation, you also get far more health back, that way.

you can bonemeal the grass to get flowers and other tall grass(for seeds), also you can grow wheat without water, it just takes more time.
I think it would be interesting to have opening up new chunks be done by sacrificing stuff (maybe first expansion would cost a few stacks of wheat, then next could be something else)

I remember playing Minecraft on the Xbox 360 when it first came out. It started, I think, on Beta 1.6, and the world size was TINY. It wasn't infinite, it had a very defined edge to the world, and it was so small that I build a minecart track from one side to the other, and had bases on either side that I'd regularly travel between for different things.
You should have put cobblestone around first border so you can see much room you get as the series continues
I think keeping with one chunk for as long as possible sounds more interesting - see how far you can get! Either way, excited for this series!

If it rains again, the rain will actually hydrate soil, so even if you don’t get any water in your cauldrons you can still plant some seeds and grow them briefly.
Plants grow without water, they just grow faster with water.

This is a great idea. I think it would be cool if like 33% of the chunks open up randomly. I think that would add to the challenge and force you to work within more limitations and force you to adapt. Not sure if that's even possible with how the world border is set up. Maybe a mod could do it.

8:44 u can get water if u craft a couldron ( the witch hut thingy) and if it rains it can collect rain water and after it gets full u can use a bucket to get the water inside

regarding the phantoms, you don't necessarily need a bed. You can trap them in boats/minecarts. Once trapped just don't kill them and they won't respawn until they die in the morning. Obviously there is one more for every night you've been awake up til 10, but it is a way of dealing with them. Could also build a little cover with a lip a bit lower and they'll get stuck under it.

You can have water if you get a full cauldron
And you get water. You can use glass bottles at the water you got with a bucket to refill cauldron and get infinite water.
Just some tips that I usually use in skyblock.

What plugin/extension are you using to make the chunk wall?
the command "/worldborder set 16" will limit it to 1 chunk just like his. you can do any number of blocks wide, 16 blocks is one chunk.
@@JimmyBosse Yeah, you can use commands. It's not technically cheating, just as long as you don't do something like give yourself creative mode or hundreds of diamonds. In this case, it's a survival challenge, so you can set the world border.

for now best food source might be honey bottle . grow up a tree with a flower at any side ( flowers from bonemeal) make a campfire and hunt for glass bottle from witches underground. after getting water i think afk fish farm will be great option

That was quite an experience, watching minecraft with zelda music
(1) You don't need water to farm. It makes things grow faster and keeps hoed plots from converting back to plain dirt on their own, but once a seed is in, it is in until harvest or trampled. Probably could have grown those two seeds to full wheat several times in all that mining time. Also, bonemeal works just as well on dry as it does on wet crops - it isn't reducing the time, but advancing a step, so if anything it is more effective. Bonemeal can also just get you more grass for potentially more seeds if you want to gamble.
(2) Every time you break/move a cauldron you are starting over. That thing has levels even if you don't see them all.
(3) Farming enemies, which is very doable as shown with your existing caves or by digging out something else (and you have all the wood you need for trap doors), will get you spiders. Spiders gets you string. 12 string = a bed and no phantoms. It also means more rotten food, more chances at potatoes and carrots from zombies, and more bones for bonemeal. A dry one chunk is like a sky island but without a cobble stone generator, more dirt, and less risk of falling.
(4) Coal is not renewable (at this stage in the game). Charcoal is. If you are going to set up trading later with villagers, then the coal is more valuable kept than used. What sense is there in mining coal, when for 8 blocks you get 8 coal non-renewably, but for the low cost of 1 extra block (9 blocks of wood - one for charcoal to use to smelt the other 8) you get the same utility from renewable tree blocks?
Unless you are speed running, there is no advantage to the coal as you have plenty of time for wood to smelt.
(5) Fortune isn't a thing now, sure, but it WILL be. You can get everything and never mine a diamond due to trading, but apart from a fun challenge that just leaves you with a bunch of worthless diamonds. If that trading option is still far, far off, however, it STILL doesn't make sense to pick all your diamonds up at 1 per block. 3 for the pick to get obsidian and 2 for the enchanting table, then LET THE REST BE like you did the gold until you can get fortune on that pick and profit. Same for gold, redstone, lapis (after you get a bit for initial enchanting), etc. Of course, without sugar cane and water that might be VERY far off, but wasted resources are still wasted when your resources are limited.
If the chunk size really is going to just grow and grow rapidly enough that those are not long term barriers, then this is just a normal world being played slowly and the only limitation is waiting and a big "meh" to the series concept.
Cant wait till u bring back the hardcore series, but this is actually fire too, another banger for sure.
