  • This was a celebration dinner of Master Zai Pei Lin's dedication to the art of Dishu Quan. He has taught for many years and helped spread the styles reputation around the world. There was almost all of the older Fuzhou martial generation, Including Chen Yi Jiu's oldest son. Many of them fierce enemies of the past! Now days good friends and memories.

As a Shuai Jiao black belt with 20 years of experience, I have to admit this style would be a useful addition to my arsenal. In our school we do train in groundwork so Dishuquan would be a great complement. There are details here that caught my attention.

shuai jiao schools can add dishuquan as their groundwork like judo did that with newaza.

Supermomo2007 I agree to that. I had to make an edit to my post because in my school we already train in groundwork. It's about 10% of our curriculum. By adding Dishuquan we could increase this training, I think it would be very useful.

Don't laugh but I think some of these moves could be combined with jiu jitsu, and pro-wrestling/catch wrestling submissions
O:26 could been turned into some king of leg lock, knee bar, figure four, calf slicer
0:40 could have been turned into a Mexican Surfboard ruclips.net/video/IGR9W3DFF7c/видео.html
1:03 could be an STF ruclips.net/video/CVic8OSJsNM/видео.html

It was only short demonstration. This style is more complete than jiu jitsu.

Well all martial moves come from some where! Even wrestling before it was a TV show. Just Chinese martial arts was a few years before :-)

@@solomanifest it influenced Greek n Roman wrestling which comes modern western wrestling which produces the most MMA champions per styles. Lol

MMA is not 100% striking. So, the Kung Fu of Shuai Jiao as an ancestral art of Judo and Sambo still has significance in terms of influence over MMA grappling, take downs and throws even as Judo and Sambo are reformed and edited versions of Shuai Jiao. Yes, you were RIGHT on Egyptian's wrestling's influence on Western wrestling's influences on MMA.

Judo may well be way ahead of Shuai Jiao with its advancement into the Olympics and addition of ground tactics. Sambo as it is 3-dimensional may also be ahead of Shuai Jiao. I can't compare Jiu Justu with Shuai Jiao. Jiu Jutstu varies too much from Shuai Jiao. But Judo and Sambo do look extremely like Shuai Jiao with ground grappling. Shuai Jiao is no doubt the origin of Judo and Sambo but NOT the origin of Jiu Jutsu. Di Shu Quan may be the origin of kito ryu jujutsu, or it may have some influence over the development of Jiu Jutsu.

I don't see the savate kick. I didn't see the stomp to the knee move in the picture. It's a stomp to the ankel. The side kick was done to a lifted knee, not a to a knee with the leg on the ground.
