100%. I totally lost it when I heard it for the first time. The eerieness of the violins, the distorted voice and the occasional electronic sounds make it sound so creepy. And then the chanting of the choir, like they're summoning something, combined with this pulsing beat causes this mysterious and uneasy vibe. Really like we are witnessing something grandiose but can't quite comprehend whats happening.
I love how this theme really represents how his....mind, heart, and soul are not only RAGING, but _FRACTURING._ This kid is absolutely falling apart at the seams, and he's not only fighting against us and the world, but against himself, and you can *_HEAR IT._* The deep bass chanting and the deep brass show off the rage and anger, but then you've also got the tenor/s and higher baritone/s and lighter pitch elements that sing above that, weaving in throughout it, showing vulnerability and pain, CRYING OUT for help, SCREAMING for someone to hear him. And the way the theme goes back and forth between the 2 (and all the in between), gradually leaning more and more heavily towards the dark heavy rough rage shows his psychological descent into what I like to call the psychotic _"Y'know what? _*_T'HECK_*_ with it all! Let's just _*_BLOW EVERYTHING TO HELL!!"_* state very wonderfully. And with the whole gorgeous Gothic orchestra & chanting, mixed with the electric techo almost dubstep elements, mixed with Japanese style melody gives this song a really unique but AWESOME flavor!

Someone pointed out that the noise at 2:20 represented a heart beat and if that’s true, then they really put so much thought into his theme. His entire story essentially revolves around him trying to find his “heart” and at this stage, the Gnosis was the closest thing he had to it; it was what he was initially created for, after all.
The main singer's elegant, melodic and just angelic young voice that sounds like Scaramouche's voice is everything! It's like Scaramouche is singing about himself. In the phase II his voice goes from sad, lonely and tired, giving the theme a note of melancholy, to desperate, to mechanical, insane and scary, fitting Scaramouche's story from his past to the current moment. It's Scaramouche's voice actor singing, right? Also, 8:11 gives me a strong wish to hug Scaramouche - he sounds so tired and hurt here😢
agreed! and yes, his cn va kana who also voices aether is singing. infact the use of interval breath in music & classical opera actually signifies strong emotion. so it can very well depict his deeply hidden pain behind his morally deranged facade.
It's kind of interesting to think of the cultural influences on every harbinger we've faced so far in their music. Childe had chinese instruments in the beginning only for them to be muted out by Russian instruments and some electronic notes for his delusion. Signora started with Russian instruments but the ice melted and she went to German Metal and opera like Mondstat, finally we have Scaramouch who's conflict isn't really with Sumeru but has ambitions to use the Fatui, we get the fatui melody from signora but it becomes distorted through EDM and the Inazuma theme for what he really wants to be, a replacement to Ei.

i’ll never forget the first time i fought him, having not watching/seeing any spoilers. i’ll be honest. the music was so good to the point i forgot about the fight and just wanted to survive to continue listening. LOL

The lone melancholic notes, rather minor keys and the shifts to major baroque(?) melodies sounding like a classical piece along with the choir, before finally taking it out on the high note. Becasue that was Yu Peng Chen's last great work before he left Hoyomix, Arlecchino's theme was made by someone else, you can tell it doesn't sound like the old Harbinger's theme at all. WIthout Yu Peng Chen Harbingers theme would never be the same.

Agreed bro scaramouche theme still remains the most powerful and imitating portraying his aggressive personality perfectly from intro, phase 1, transformation, and phase 2. The other harbinger theme that would come close would be signora in my opinion since the opera and build up was emotional.

This is arguably one of the best boss themes I've ever heard. I only recently started Genshin and wasn't expecting too much honestly, but both the insane OST and interesting story have enveloped me completely. Hearing this was icing on the cake.
It’s a pity the phase 2 before the cutscene sequence is not in the weekly boss music. The soundtrack mixed with the full body reveal was something else.
This music is perfect if you go into the boss fight blind. Makes you all jumpy trying to figure out the puzzle and getting obliterated by his ultimate.

Best designed boss in the entire game. Great music, attack patterns that are decently challenging but not unfair (staring at Azdaha) and are readable (staring at the rest of the weekly bosses, minus stormterror), great use of game mechanics, can be played with any characters in spite electro resistance due to the Akasha buddy being able to do damage, playing on co-op doesn't change the difficulty of the boss due to hp scaling and the boss can't be melted immediately. Oh, and the fight is actually fun to play (Unlike Raiden, La Signora, and Azdaha)
Personally I am not a fan of this type of boss design as he is actually something called a spectacle boss. Meaning it is all about mechanics and has little to do with your characters. You could bring a team of level 20 characters against a level 90 Scaramouch and it would not be difficult to beat him since your own damage does not matter much. That little green thing will do all the work. They put those turrets really high up during the big meteor attack so you have to have something that can hit them so if you brought characters that can not attack stuff at range you will get a character killed. Also the ranged attacks can not be physical or electro. However that is the only attack that is a threat and he can only do it once. Overall the boss is all flash and little substance. The Raiden boss is what I feel to be the best boss fight in the game. Punishes you for getting hit by draining your energy, hits reasonably hard, and has phases were she is open to attack for a big combo. Raiden asks you to bring an electro character but it is not strictly necessary as it can be broken with other elements but will require more resources to do so.
@@AzureDrag0n1 I was about to say that though not as well as you did! Raiden is my favorite boss so far, she doesn't forgive if you fail at some phases like the final slash or the jumps, while I was surprised at how easy the scaramouche fight was even with my "story team" (characters related to the archon quest like Traveler, and none were leveled or fully built and definitely far behind my main characters in term of dps, healing and survivability). It's a pretty cool fight in any case, and the music I'm just speechless at all the story it tells us. I wish the difficulty was raised a bit, but in term and story and lore I've been really happy with the Sumeru arc.
Scaramouche was way too easy, he had all that building up just for people to beat him in 2 minutes. The mechanics are cool but he's wayyyyy too squishy, so disappointing.

He is from Inazuma, travelled to Snezhnaya, works for the fatuis all over the world, get a final betrayal in Sumeru and have some flashback at the first identity before study again, at Sumeru. Mr.Worldwide
If this is the level of Scaramouche's theme, then the Tsaritsa's future last boss theme can probably revive all classical music composers in history and also summon satan to worship her.
Genshin Impact absolutely peaked at Sumeru. The storytelling, gameplay, vibe, not to mention how complex its characters (especially Scaramouche, but Archon Quest NPCs were close seconds) were, and most of all, the thought and emotion Yu-Peng Chen put into the music… No matter who HoYoverse hires and no matter what they do, they will never again be at the same level they were from 3.0 through 3.8. It’s kind of sad, but at least I can justify my bias for Sumeru lol
Okay that might be me only but when the singer starts to go with the chore in phase 1 + 2 it borderline sounds like Suzumu Hirazawa (the composer of the Berserk adaptations), his voice has the same vibes and it adds some horrific epicness to the theme.

They keep topping themselves each bossfight in music complexion. It's interesting, they are creating a story within' the boss sound tracks. They have feelings from all the build before. It makes me wonder what 4 or 5 main bosses from now sound like. It'll be a immense cluster of all you and them have learned and the music will only be understood by the player themselves

Someone pointed out that the noise at 2:20 represented a heart beat and if that’s true, then they really put so much thought into his theme. His entire story essentially revolves around him trying to find his “heart” and at this stage, the Gnosis was the closest thing he had to it; it was what he was initially created for, after all.
it's more like his heart slowly getting in sync with his meka, if you notice at the start is completely out of sync
The main singer's elegant, melodic and just angelic young voice that sounds like Scaramouche's voice is everything! It's like Scaramouche is singing about himself. In the phase II his voice goes from sad, lonely and tired, giving the theme a note of melancholy, to desperate, to mechanical, insane and scary, fitting Scaramouche's story from his past to the current moment. It's Scaramouche's voice actor singing, right?
Also, 8:11 gives me a strong wish to hug Scaramouche - he sounds so tired and hurt here😢

It's kind of interesting to think of the cultural influences on every harbinger we've faced so far in their music. Childe had chinese instruments in the beginning only for them to be muted out by Russian instruments and some electronic notes for his delusion. Signora started with Russian instruments but the ice melted and she went to German Metal and opera like Mondstat, finally we have Scaramouch who's conflict isn't really with Sumeru but has ambitions to use the Fatui, we get the fatui melody from signora but it becomes distorted through EDM and the Inazuma theme for what he really wants to be, a replacement to Ei.

Look me in the eyes and tell me this isn't the best theme in Genshin. Not just even sound wise like the way this just so painfully and beautifully represents Scara has me in awe. The lone melancholic notes, rather minor keys and the shifts to major baroque(?) melodies sounding like a classical piece along with the choir, before finally taking it out on the high note. Becasue that was Yu Peng Chen's last great work before he left Hoyomix, Arlecchino's theme was made by someone else, you can tell it doesn't sound like the old Harbinger's theme at all. WIthout Yu Peng Chen Harbingers theme would never be the same.

Agreed bro scaramouche theme still remains the most powerful and imitating portraying his aggressive personality perfectly from intro, phase 1, transformation, and phase 2. The other harbinger theme that would come close would be signora in my opinion since the opera and build up was emotional.

This is arguably one of the best boss themes I've ever heard. I only recently started Genshin and wasn't expecting too much honestly, but both the insane OST and interesting story have enveloped me completely. Hearing this was icing on the cake.

What an absolute banger
Best designed boss in the entire game. Great music, attack patterns that are decently challenging but not unfair (staring at Azdaha) and are readable (staring at the rest of the weekly bosses, minus stormterror), great use of game mechanics, can be played with any characters in spite electro resistance due to the Akasha buddy being able to do damage, playing on co-op doesn't change the difficulty of the boss due to hp scaling and the boss can't be melted immediately.
Oh, and the fight is actually fun to play (Unlike Raiden, La Signora, and Azdaha)
Personally I am not a fan of this type of boss design as he is actually something called a spectacle boss. Meaning it is all about mechanics and has little to do with your characters. You could bring a team of level 20 characters against a level 90 Scaramouch and it would not be difficult to beat him since your own damage does not matter much. That little green thing will do all the work. They put those turrets really high up during the big meteor attack so you have to have something that can hit them so if you brought characters that can not attack stuff at range you will get a character killed. Also the ranged attacks can not be physical or electro. However that is the only attack that is a threat and he can only do it once.
Overall the boss is all flash and little substance. The Raiden boss is what I feel to be the best boss fight in the game. Punishes you for getting hit by draining your energy, hits reasonably hard, and has phases were she is open to attack for a big combo. Raiden asks you to bring an electro character but it is not strictly necessary as it can be broken with other elements but will require more resources to do so.
@@AzureDrag0n1 I was about to say that though not as well as you did! Raiden is my favorite boss so far, she doesn't forgive if you fail at some phases like the final slash or the jumps, while I was surprised at how easy the scaramouche fight was even with my "story team" (characters related to the archon quest like Traveler, and none were leveled or fully built and definitely far behind my main characters in term of dps, healing and survivability). It's a pretty cool fight in any case, and the music I'm just speechless at all the story it tells us. I wish the difficulty was raised a bit, but in term and story and lore I've been really happy with the Sumeru arc.

Scaramouche was way too easy, he had all that building up just for people to beat him in 2 minutes. The mechanics are cool but he's wayyyyy too squishy, so disappointing.
