I can see how the cut ring could work with a desk top magsafe but since the camera gets into the way of the magsafe charger a little, is the contact strong enough to use for a car based magsafe charger or is there a chance it might fall off?
I ended up superglueing the ring on my case. Unfortunately, because we have to snip off part of the ring to make it fit, it negatively affected the magnet strength (this ring isn't particularly strong to begin with) and it is just quite saddening. By the way, even the heat from the wireless charging will weaken the adhesive as well.
You saved me from trying to add one of these rings to a new Fold 5. Although the idea of adapting is good I think it is not worth th trouble. I intended to use of those magsafe powerbanks but I decided to go with Anker Nano USBC charger. It is small enough and it will get the job done when you are in a pinch for extra power. Thanks for the video. Great job!
If you're looking for a way to make your Fold 5 magsafe compatible, you should look into the Snap 4 Luxe phone grip. It's a phone grip that is similar to but thinner than a popsocket, and it also has full magsafe compatability. It adheres to the back of most phones and cases, and it has a strong magnetic pull. I have one on the back of a case for my Fold 5, and the magnetic portion holds this beefy phone securely on a magsafe wall mount. It was a game changer for me. I had never used popsockets or grips before, but this thing looked too cool to pass up, and it is. So much functionality with the magsafe ability, but also just a nice grip for the phone, too.
Hey, don't use that ring for the Spen. Use a nonmagnetic steel ring on the case. So I bought that one and a different brand that's just steel rings. The brand of ring in the video interfered with my spen. No permeant damage that I can tell. Just wouldn't read touches in one 3rd of the screen. I switched to a plain steel ring with 0 problems. As far as the accessories, they vary. MOFT wallet with their relatively weak magnets did interfere. Weirdly enough, the super strong magnets of the Popsocket wallet doesn't affect mine.
The adhesive doesn't work good, falls of a few days later,or when it's hot out it falls off..Get the double sided magnet ring... a strong magnet ring, not a cheap ass magnet...im using Fold 4 Naked phone.the finish they use on the back of the fold4 is kinda Non stick feeling to it,adhesives blow on this cell, wont stick at all. Magnet works but sometimes it messes with the spen...
A picture won't help you, it needs to be to scale. Just measure the diameter of the ring magsafe, measure the height and width of the phone, then add half the diameter to the centre for the edges of the circle.
Is this safe in the long run??? Hi there. I am new to all of this msgsafe method. I have a Flip4 with a regular baseus wireless 15w charger. Why add magsae capability? Wouldn't this mess up the phone later as it has a different technology? Thanks in advance.
@@sashwnsmu477 yeah I understand your concern and no, there's nothing to worry about. The magsafe magnet isn't particularly strong and none of the components inside are affected. The only thing that might be hindered is the OIS system in the camera but it's very far away from the magnet.
@@NasiLemakTechthe charging coil is lower than the camera bump, so you could have placed it a little lower with good results as well. I haven't had to cut my ring to work but it's VERY close to the camera.
Planning to do exactly this to my fold 4 when it arrives. Same Spigen case too. Thanks for sharing the challenges.
Have fun! Make sure the adhesive is strong enough though - mine had a bit of peeling going while going through super bumpy roads
how’d it work out for your fold 4?

Definitely falling off the car mount.
@@NasiLemakTech Oh dear, that's no use to me then.

@@NasiLemakTechso how do those magsafe cases for the fold 4/5 manage to position their rings without being affected by the camera position?
@@fatphoca5009 They place the ring off-center. It still works, just not that ideal for wireless charging.

hey do you use s-pen at all? It's well known that magnets mess with the WACOM digitizer.. some say they can/have cause/caused permanent damage
I don't use the S Pen, hence that's why it's not mentioned.
Though this magnet is weak af so I doubt it affect anything
@@NasiLemakTech magsafe is very strong though how is it weak?
The magnetic strength of magsafe-compatible accessories can vary. For the ones I have, they're weak - except for the Pitaka magsafe car charger I got.

Hi, can you share a picture of the alignment tool?
I bought the ring from a different manufacturer and it doesn't have it.
That circle thing is the alignment tool. I don't know how to describe it lol.

Adding MagSafe doesn't affect anything, actually. And yes it's safe.
MagSafe is pretty much just for convenience.
which one of them can be installed inside the case?
Can I get a link to the ring you bought and cut?
Everything is in the description. Unfortunately I couldn't find the exact one I got on Amazon
Is the s-pen writing compromised when using a MagSafe?
Nope. Works just fine
Hi, Will this setup work on OnePlus 8 pro, Including charging feature?
If it supports wireless charging then sure
I am curious why can't you put the ring underneath the camera it will still charge.
You can try. It'll still work but I'm not sure if it's aligned with the phone's coils. Any offset will affect the efficiency
No wonder fold 5 flash move to top 😊
Thank you!
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Wah so cool!
Try this company esr
Won't this affect my phone?
Nope. Still will work as is

buy a case made w a metal ring..
Does this allow reverse wireless powershare?
Not exactly. The case is too thick for this
