Ben Affleck's Batman was supposed to be more violent because it takes place after Robin has been killed by joker, but that aspect of his character was never really explained or fleshed out
Snyder did give us clarification on how Batman is at a low point. When it comes to batfleck, the goal was not to have a young Batman. It was to have a Batman who’s been at it for 2 decades who has lost people close to him. His parents, Robin, and seeing others go bad. “20 years in Gotham Alfred, we’ve seen what promises are worth. How many good guys are left, how many stayed that way?” But more importantly he’s lost his way. After he brands a criminal (Cesar Santos) Alfred approaches him and says “New rules.” Then Bruce says “We’re criminals Alfred, we’ve always been criminals nothings changed.” Alfred: “Oh yes it has sir. That’s how it starts, the fever, the rage, the feeling of powerlessness. That turns good men cruel.” He’s talking about Bruce here and how he’s turning cruel. Hell, the intro of the movie is Bruce talking about his own fall from grace. Referring to Batman as a beautiful lie. “In the dream, they took me into the light. A beautiful lie.” He’s a shadow of his former self. This isn’t the Batman we know anymore and this has led to a more reckless and uncaring Batman. They’ve also explored the bat-descent in the Gotham apartment complex scene, where Clark is investigating the African woman’s place and the homeless oldie that talks to him. “There’s a new kinda mean to him. He’s angry and he’s hunting.” It establishes that the Bat branding are quite fresh and not an old thing. It’s only then that Clark starts looking up news coverage and sees the 18 months thing (Black Zero event in MoS). So yeah, they’ve explained and fleshed out his character plenty of times throughout the ultimate edition of BvS.
@@dakshdhingra2221 I wasn't saying it was good, I was just saying it had unfulfilled potential. And I'm also tired of Batman fans saying it's "not like the real Batman" as if there can only be one interpretation of a character.

I agree about the Batman being s tier. I watched it yesterday and god damn. Got Batman perfectly. I feel like emo Batman was a little wierd, but still good. Only part I thought was wierd(spoilers ahead) was the flooding part where people just stood on ground level instead of getting to safety? And he took a bomb to the face point blank, with no visual damage, but either than that it was incredible
The electricity was cut off by batman resulting to the people not being able to see in the dark and just stood there. Then batman lights up the place and guide them through safety. Then at the bomb scene, you can see that he covered his face with his arm which is part of his bulletproof suit.
i think the "emo" side truly shows bruce wayne and his grievances, other than being like a playboy charmer it gives off that vigilantly and pain side of batman, works so well for me honestly but either way W for ranking it S tier.
Lego Batman HAS to be my favorite batman movie. I loved how the story feels like it takes place in the mind of a child, which allows the film to feel alive. That was another reason why I loved the first movie so much, because it allowed the characters to feel funny and allowed me to enjoy them more
I love Lego Batman, it’s a kids movie which allows it to snap free from Batman’s gritty dark concept and give the characters funny personalities and it explores the connection between a long running hero (Batman) and his long running villain (The Joker) in a way that a kids movie rarely does
As much as I love the other batman movies, the lego batman movie has to be my favourite. It’s the type of movie that has me giggling while swinging my feet up and down.

Quite upset with the the dark knight rises placement. Bane was unbelieveable good. Michael Caine had not that much of screentime but his performance was still class. Story telling was alright. The bat symbol on the bridge wasn't meaningless how you said. It should give the people hope again. That Gotham never lost his hero. And he survived the bomb because he used the autopilot, if you watched the film in details in the end Wayne enterprises workers told Lucius Fox that the Autopilot was new uploaded before the bomb even was there. Then he realized that he has to be alive and it makes sense at all. The entire police was caught underground cause they were sended by Gordon while he was upset and he wanted bane to shut down with all police's that he had. And you also never mentioned the music. The dark knight rises and the whole trilogy probably had and still has the best movie theme of all time. But again we have to respect this placement because it's your placement! But opinions has to make sense. A tier for me
In the Batman I like how they made him more realistic when fighting in most stuff he’s almost god level when fighting but in here he’s skilled but not like the greatest fighter in the universe
@@danielcues what are you talking about cringe? If you decided to go out every night and fight crime in a highly dangerous city you are GOING to get shot. So it only makes sense for him to make a bullet proof suit or he would be dead the minute he met eyes with a gun.
I personally feel that dark knight rises shud be wayyyy higher I really liked how they got realism into the Lazarus pit It's easy somewhere in a high ctier and a low B tier
You should make it a priority to see it in theatres. It is such a unique film and is unlike any other superhero movie I’ve ever seen. To go alone with how to good the detective aspect of the film is, the universe it exists in is amazing and is in my opinion the most accurate depiction of Gotham city we’ve seen so far. Let us know what you thought of it.
Just think in an alternate universe, Superman was emo and stuff and Batman was super cool and not emo. I can just hear Superman going, "I'm Superman!" That would be hilarious.
The reason why there are Darth Vader vibes with the batman's music is because the composer for the score Michael Giacchino got inspiration from the empire march. Honestly I think he did an excellent job with the batman like how Huldir did with the Joker. hope the batman gets nominated for its score alone.
The Batman is so great. My favorite movie ever is The Dark Knight so to have a new movie that is on the same level is so exciting and I can’t wait to see where this universe goes. Certainly one of the greatest superhero movies ever.
Uma Thurman was amazing as Poison Ivy. She was Sexy, Seductive, and Sadistic just like Poison Ivy is known to be. It’s just sad that she is so underrated, but the reasoning for it is that everything else about the movie is so bad to where nobody wants to watch it. I’d honestly throw it in D tier because of Uma and because the Burton/Schumacher films were my childhood and I have much love for them.
In Dark Knight Rises there was a scene with Fox inspecting Batwing files then a lab assistant says that the autopilot was installed 6 months ago after Fox said "A greater mind is needed to finish it"
11:55 okay I had that question too as to how he survived the blast but hears what happened: in the scene after the bomb goes off, a few workers inspect the flying bat thing and tell Fox that the autopilot system was fixed months before Bane and his mercenaries took over the city. It’s also revealed that Bruce Wayne fixed it. I don’t like how critics are now hating the Dark Knight Rises, I will say this, I do think the Dark Knight is the best in the trilogy, the Dark Knight Rises was my personal favorite. It’s obviously not perfect but hey. Even the previous two had some flaws. Say what you want, I still enjoyed the third movie especially Tom Hardy’s performance as Bane. The way he only acts using his eyes was just so good. I’ve rewatched the entire trilogy recently and they’re all good. But they’re also unique. Each film is good in its own way.
Holy shit this list is good. And as someone who's seen under the red hood when it came out I'm so happy it was 4th. Even though it was animated. It was the best batman film to capture him completely on his mistakes on who he is. And the story ark for Jason was magnificent
The reason batman survives in the dark knight rises is because at the end it is revealed the he had fixed the auto pilot of the batwing so id guess he used the auto pilot to distance off the bomb while he went hiding
one of my favorite parts of the batman is that it was a 3 hour movie that didn't feel long. infinity war and endgame and the snyder cut all felt sort of long and stretched out, but the batman used its time perfectly. there was little to no filler, all of it was important and pushed the story forward. a near perfect batman movie.

It’s actually decent. Coming from someone who HATED the Josstice Leaue Literally a million times, night and day, better than the original. Totally recommend watching it. Although you should watch it piece-meal Still C-Tier tho. Could’ve been even better if BvS wasn’t actual donkey doo doo
S- The Batman, The Dark Knight A- Batman Begins, Lego Batman Movie, Snyder Cut, Joker, Batman: Under The Red Hood B- The Dark Knight Rises, Batman 1989, Batman Returns, Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm C- Batman 1966 D- Batman Forever, Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Batman: The Killing Joke F- Batman And Robin, Josstice League, Suicide Squad
As soon as you put The Dark Knight Rises with BVS & Justice League, I knew not to take your judgment seriously because there’s no way way The Dark Knight Rises was as bad as BVS or Justice League, as matter of fact, it was actually a pretty decent movie (not good but still decent)
Dark Knight Rises responses 1. If you know the character of Batman, you know he has failsafes for many, many contingencies. It makes sense that he had a plan on how to get back to Gotham. No money? Bruce spent essentially seven years homeless. He knows how to live minimaly. He made his way around the world before he became Batman, it stands to logical reason that he has contacts outside Gotham he can utilize. 2. Batman is a theatrical badass. The whole point of Batman is to scare the shit out of his opponents. So when he returns and wants to make Bane know he's back, it makes sense he would do it in the most psychologically dramatic way possible. 3. They literally mention when Lucius Fox is talking with the team working on The Bat after the bomb goes off that the autopilot was fixed, implying Batman ejected before the Bat flew over the ocean. Plot Holes are only convenient for thd people that don't want to actually stop to think about it. LITERALLY THE REASON HE MADE IT BACK TO GOTHAM IS BECAUSE HE'S BATMAN.
My list(my opinion): S-The Batman, Batman Returns, The Dark Knight A-Batman Begins, The dark knight rises(I really enjoyed it actually) B-Lego Batman Movie C- D-Batman Forever, Batman, Batman & Robin(it’s actually my childhood and I loved it when I was younger, thinking back it isn’t neither as good and as bad as most people think) E- F- Batman & Superman
You commented on suicide squad wanting to be like guardians of the galaxy. James Gunn made a reboot of suicide squad and it perfectly captured what the 2016 one was aiming for. 2016 suicide squad was an instance of “Good actors, bad script”. I also agree with the Lego batman movie choice
There is no way he just put The Dark Knight Rises at D tier. Most of his problems he had with the movie could have been rejected by one phrase: ''Because he's BATMAN''
Can we talk about how Gotham City is in America and the government let some militia just take it over and blow up all the bridges? Even with the threat of a nuclear bomb, the movie wants us to believe a seal team wouldn't be deployed or something if not a full scale military operation to take back a major costal city
I feel like a lot of people miss the fact that the Martha scene was meant to make Clark seem more human. The whole point of the movie was Bruce’s fear of this alien god like creature coming to earth with this unparalleled power and Bruce seeing him as a threat rather than a ally. Could they have executed it better of course, but I didn’t completely hate the movie.
I understand why it’s in it. But having Batman spend the whole movie plotting this man’s murder and then switching sides so jarringly fast in the last quarter of the movie because of a couple words isn’t gonna sit right wit people. They should have spent more time with their relationship in that regard
Being generous I'd give Dark Knight Rises a C. Most of the gripes you had, had reasonable explanations behind them (except the gasoline bat signal that is really wack)
I loved most of Suicide Squad but they shouldn’t have done the whole supernatural thing. I wish it was more grounded with like some kind of terror/government threat as the conflict, but mainly focus on the characters bonding. I also hate that they killed Boomerang in the second one. He was so good in the first one and they wasted an opportunity to grow his chemistry with Harley.
1. The Dark Knight (A+) 2. Batman Begins (A+) 3. The Batman (A) 4. Batman (A-) 5. The Dark Knight Rises (B+) 6. Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition (B+) 7. Batman Returns (B-) 8. Zach Snyder’s Justice League (C+) 9. Batman Forever (D-) 10. Batman & Robin (F)
14:55 one of the main reasons "Sucker Punch" is my favorite Snyder film. It's wholly original. Zack can go and shoot his action, do whatever he wants (which is really what he's good at, amazing visuals and action sequences) and doesn't have to care about "getting" a character or doing a faithful adaptation. He has always been more drawn to the style of the stuff he adapts (300, Watchmen, Batman v Superman)
My dad's friend won an oscar for one of the films, he won it for special effects. I believe he is from either Nottingham or Derby or the shires around there.
Hard disagree on the "original batman". Look at Batman movies before it. Everything is in broad daylight. Everything PG. All of the Batman movies afterwards had to "take off the kid gloves" in subsequent movies because of Tim Burton. Anyone who doesn't rank this movie S tier is simply too young to know better.
S- Batman, TDK, Batman begins, TDKR, Joker A- Lego batman, Under the red hood, ZSJL, B- Batman 1989, Batman returns, C- BVS, D- Batman forever E- Batman and robin, Suicide squad

Superman F: Batman and Robin, Suicide Squad If this comment blows up for whatever reason then I’ll give a more detailed explanation about why I chose those the way that I did, but they pretty much reflect the same view points as stated in this video, just with some minor changes for my opinion.
All of the batman films are on hbo max including the animated ones which you should really see macro. I recommend the dark knight returns part 1 and 2 pretty good movies.
About The Dark Knight Rises in end when Lucius fox is like reviewing or checking 'The Bat' ( it's the name of the flying vehicle) he comes to know that Bruce had updated the autopilot software in the vehicle without fox's knowledge so that's how he was able to survive ... But we don't see him bailing out of the vehicle so yeah it still doesn't make sense like you said.
01: The Dark Knight (2008) 02: Joker (2019) 03: Batman Begins (2005) 04: Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021) 05: The Batman (2022) 06: The Dark Knight Rises (2012) 07: Batman Returns (1992) 08: Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) 09: The Lego Batman Movie (2017) 10: Batman Forever (1995) 11: Batman (1989) 12: Suicide Squad (2016) 13: Batman & Robin (1997) 14: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) 15: Justice League (2017) 16: Catwoman (2004)

"Why so serious?" This quote gives me the chills to this day. RIP Heath Ledger

TDK Rises is at least A tier. I get your points but the emotion built into so many of those scenes makes it great
I agree about the Batman being s tier.
That movie was too drawn out like it kept on telling stories
I still think it was good tho
@@Mayomonster38 I know chill shaggy lord 🙏🙏🙏
i think the "emo" side truly shows bruce wayne and his grievances, other than being like a playboy charmer it gives off that vigilantly and pain side of batman, works so well for me honestly but either way W for ranking it S tier.
When I saw that you put Batman: The Dark Knight in S tier I was so happy because that is such a nostalgic movie that is loved by my entire family
Just saying pretty much everyone would put it there. It’s kinda of a rule because if you didn’t then you would get lit up
Lego Batman HAS to be my favorite batman movie. I loved how the story feels like it takes place in the mind of a child, which allows the film to feel alive. That was another reason why I loved the first movie so much, because it allowed the characters to feel funny and allowed me to enjoy them more
I love Lego Batman, it’s a kids movie which allows it to snap free from Batman’s gritty dark concept and give the characters funny personalities and it explores the connection between a long running hero (Batman) and his long running villain (The Joker) in a way that a kids movie rarely does
It’s a legit very emotional story which I love
As much as I love the other batman movies, the lego batman movie has to be my favourite. It’s the type of movie that has me giggling while swinging my feet up and down.
if ur number 1 favourite batman movie is a lego movie and youre above the age of 18 u definitely have some screws loose up there, dont get me wrong, i loved the movie, but it doesnt compete egainst the other new batman movies

the long halloween was alright, dark knight returns was great though (my opinions of course)
long halloween is a great movie or i guess movies
Long Halloween part 1 &2 are 😍🦇🔥👌🏾🤯🐐 my fourth fav batman movie
And under the red hood
dark knight returns did batman dirty
Exactly! I loved how he actually got hit when fighting

Tom hardy bane is really what made me like the dark knight rises, if not for him I probably wouldn’t have liked it.

The Batman is the best super movie I’ve ever seen and this is coming from a marvel fan boy and comic nerd

Will do. Would love to hear your thoughts on The Batman and Batman movies in general.
I’d honestly throw it in D tier because of Uma and because the Burton/Schumacher films were my childhood and I have much love for them.
literally just got back from watching DA BATMAN in theater
The Batman is very good. I’ve seen it 2 times and it just gets better because you notice even more the second watch of it. Solid list!
There are SO many outstanding animated Batman movies
What’s your favorite?
In Dark Knight Rises there was a scene with Fox inspecting Batwing files then a lab assistant says that the autopilot was installed 6 months ago after Fox said "A greater mind is needed to finish it"
under the red hood is my 3rd favorite batman movie I would die for a live action version
I just said that in my superhero animated collection video I posted today. Stop by to check that out my friend.
Speaking on TDKR ending, I’m pretty sure there was the autopilot feature that let him escape out of there
wasnt the video i expected from this channel but i dont mind at all, youre commentary is really good
Holy shit this list is good. And as someone who's seen under the red hood when it came out I'm so happy it was 4th. Even though it was animated. It was the best batman film to capture him completely on his mistakes on who he is. And the story ark for Jason was magnificent
This ranking is almost identical to mine. Great, in-depth review.
I love how he put Batman Forever in front of Dark Knight Rises

Dark Knight Rises responses

The Batman's Cinematoggraphy is phenomenal.
Now with The Penguin broooo
It sets up so much for Part 2.
Just pure fire moviee.
Can we talk about how Gotham City is in America and the government let some militia just take it over and blow up all the bridges? Even with the threat of a nuclear bomb, the movie wants us to believe a seal team wouldn't be deployed or something if not a full scale military operation to take back a major costal city
I like how he kept saying "Batman vs Robin" lol
macro's take on the dark knight is something i have never related with more
I deeply agree with you macro... I love you.
Dark knight rises is so good though Macro.
No
It’s pretty bad man… no one even remotely cares about Taliah Al Ghoul… 😐
I feel like a lot of people miss the fact that the Martha scene was meant to make Clark seem more human. The whole point of the movie was Bruce’s fear of this alien god like creature coming to earth with this unparalleled power and Bruce seeing him as a threat rather than a ally. Could they have executed it better of course, but I didn’t completely hate the movie.
Yeah everyone misunderstands that scene, cinemawins said it best in his video
I understand why it’s in it. But having Batman spend the whole movie plotting this man’s murder and then switching sides so jarringly fast in the last quarter of the movie because of a couple words isn’t gonna sit right wit people. They should have spent more time with their relationship in that regard
It’s still dumb lol
idea good execution terrible Just check how MCU handled this in endgame when it was steve vs steve He used bucky's name to escape
Still a bad movie.
Being generous I'd give Dark Knight Rises a C. Most of the gripes you had, had reasonable explanations behind them (except the gasoline bat signal that is really wack)
Never thought I’d see Flash Thompson do a Batman video
I loved most of Suicide Squad but they shouldn’t have done the whole supernatural thing. I wish it was more grounded with like some kind of terror/government threat as the conflict, but mainly focus on the characters bonding. I also hate that they killed Boomerang in the second one. He was so good in the first one and they wasted an opportunity to grow his chemistry with Harley.

I read this tier list to my friend who's a huge Batman fan, and he agreed across the board with the tier list.
You should check out more of the animated ones. Long Halloween was great but mask of the phantasm is easy S tier imo.
That's facts Mask of the Phantasm was just *mwah French kiss*

Hard disagree on the "original batman". Look at Batman movies before it. Everything is in broad daylight. Everything PG. All of the Batman movies afterwards had to "take off the kid gloves" in subsequent movies because of Tim Burton. Anyone who doesn't rank this movie S tier is simply too young to know better.

A: Batman Begins, Lego Batman
B: Batman (1989), The Dark Knight Rises, Joker, Batman Under The Red Hood
C: Batman Returns, Justice League (Snyder)
D: Batman Forever, Justice League, Batman v. Superman
F: Batman and Robin, Suicide Squad
If this comment blows up for whatever reason then I’ll give a more detailed explanation about why I chose those the way that I did, but they pretty much reflect the same view points as stated in this video, just with some minor changes for my opinion.
Swap BvS and TDKR and then your list is valid
Also swap ZSJL with Batman Begins
The Batman is the best Batman no debate
I feel like the Wayne murder in batman begins is perfect, it's how an actual father would act in a situation like that.
