Thanks for the extra effort to position the camera back there. I wish I saw this video last week, my buddy and I removed, cleaned and reinstalled the manifold a few days on my 03 Jetta tdi
Another great video. Been meaning to do this to clean my EGR and manifold but put it off, seeing it all so simply done has given me the push to go out and do it a.s.a.p.
Blank the EGR pipe at one (or both) ends and use an oil catch can between the crank case vent and the intake manifold. It will significantly reduce the build up of EGR and intake manifold gunk in future. (On a mk5 or above, you'll need to map out the EGR valve otherwise it will throw up your engine MIL lamp)
what do you mean by blank out egr pipe? are you talking about putting plates at each ends of the small little EGR pipe from the exhaust to the EGR valve?
i’ve got a 2005 mk4 BEW, and i’m removing my intake manifold in a few hours just to clean it. should i block off the pipe to stop this from happening again?
I have followed your videos for some time and really enjoy the clear explanations and visual images to show what your are doing in your work. Do you have the torque specifications for re-installing the parts back together? I often have no information when installing after a tear down and torque specs are some of the hardest things to find on the internet. Thanks.
And....Can't wait for the turbo rebuilding video....Kinda wish I could pull it up now, thats the procedure I'm thinking of doing.... Let me know if you ever visit California...
I’m doing this in nicer weather to my 2003 beetle with the ATD I’m dreading it, I love my car but it’s the worst engine bay ever. I’ll have to remove the wiper scuttle panel and all sorts even before getting to the point where you started off. 🤦🏼♂️ Edit, new sub 👍🏼
My mk 5 sdi (BDK engine) has a similar setup no turbo though (NA ftw) That exhaust cooler part doesnt seem to have ANY screw to undo though - it gets in the way of the intake 6mm screws. I took 2 off from the leftmost side (where the EGR valve was. It also gets in the way.) Where I could slightly move / bend the exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold but no joy on the remaining 4. Please help!!! Theres literally no info on the SDI online and its intake/exhaust manifolds!!!
Hi. I have for weeks been trying to remove the convoluted pipe that joins the turbo to the egr valve and blank it off (as I have installed an egr delete kit), the two 13mm bolts/bolts are stuck solid,I've sprayed wd40 on them, not worked,I tried spraying Plus Gas on but the can is too big to get any decent contact with them. I have used a 13mm spanner but feared stripping the head or sheering the bolts/nuts if I applied too much force, think one might be slightly rounded so I tried to a used a socket, but again I fear of sheering them. Any suggestions? You make it look so so easy on your vid when you remove it
also read up that the manifold gets caked in soot etc and could do with a good clean, any ideas on whats best to use? think I'll be doing mine soon. :)
Great video, I plan to do this soon. My car is no where near as clean as that, which gaskets or bolts would you suggest I replace. And would you suggest cleaning the egr cooler or do you have to remove it for this process?
Yes, I think its gaskets on this engine sometimes it can be rubber seals like on the Audi S7 2012 V6 3.0 it is normally advised to replace seals/gaskets but you can get away with a little bit of sealant
i have 03 jetta tdi. i am getting grinding noise when i accelarate. toady at parking lot ,i just press the gas peddle 2 to 3 time to hear the turbo sound (when i parked my car), and the car rpm went at his maximum and lot off smoke from hood back tail pipe ,inside the car, big sound .i can't stop the engine , i removed the ignition key, still the car runs like high rpm (maximum) after 2 min the car turn off . after that i didn't start the car. can i start my car. what happen to my car i don't know. If i start my car it will go high rpm?. how i can turn off the car if it go high rps. pls help. i am very scary to turn on my car . thanks.
Sajeev Kumar Diesel motors will"Run away" as we say in the States. Oil is being fed into the intake, and until the oil is gone the engine won't shut down. There's also the possibility of major damage to the motor as it revs too high and will self destruct. Find out where the oil is entering the motor, probably through the turbo. This will happen on any diesel motor, since there's no spark to turn off, it's the fuel supply that's turned off. Oil leaking into the motor keeps it running at uncontrolled rpm.
I did this about a month ago and stripped an allen bolt, what a pain in the @$$ to get it out. I think I may be an expert bolt extractor now! any ways im going to install my sub now.
How do i remove the intake plenum on a 99 vr6. Or how do i remove the fuel injectors without braking them? I was removing the fuel injectors at the junkyard and broke 3 of them! what is the best way to remove them! please reply thanks!
Thanks for the extra effort to position the camera back there.

Glad I could help
Iv just remembered how much you have helped me over the years. My golf is on 220k miles and still pulls like a train because of these videos. 👍🦆
As always, clear, concise and well produced. Keep up the great work!
Just wanted to leave a thanks. Your guides have helped me no end.
The best guy for Vdub mechanics on youtube!! Thankyou!!
Nice that you showed this, It's one of those vehicles I will never contact to repair again. I learned my lesson. Thanks for the tutorial video.
You don't need to remove the dip stick and oil cap to take the engine cover off. Excellent video as usual.
Dude, your vids are awesome. Thanks for taking the time to walk through these repairs.
Another great video. Been meaning to do this to clean my EGR and manifold but put it off, seeing it all so simply done has given me the push to go out and do it a.s.a.p.
Awesome help - love how concise you keep it and the extra views - thanks a million!
Great video! Keep posting video to replace turbo.

Thanks for the upload. This is going to help when i clean out my egr valve and inlet manifold soon.
Good man. I am here for you
@@BMACVAGS you utter legend!
Dude, you are awesome! Thoughtful explanations, great camera work, Thank You!
Can I put 19tdi manifold & turdo onto 19sdi engine
You’d need all the extra vacuum pipes and boost solenoid etc but then they wouldn’t work with your ecu.
Simplest way, buy a tdi
I can't wait for the turbo bit, I had mine replaced on my Jetta back in May an I am curious how its done! Great vid matey.
Cheers man, thanks for the support as usual
Great clip. Exactly what I needed.
Couldn't find one for a Fabia vRS so will use this instead as will be exactly the same, so thanks dude.

did you ever find out?
@@elloello_erm Sorry, no. I have not had a chance to investigate further. If I find anything about the torque specs I will post.
@@tedtolentino4955 Replace the gaskets definitely and do them up tight 👍🏼

You should try working on a BMW..... Awful
Love your videos! Subscribed! Will share your videos on the uk-mkivs forum!
when are you going to post the turbo removel? , and are you going to show us how to clean the inlet and ex ports while cylinder head is in place?
Another great video my man 💪🏻

yo man this was very help full thank you
Does this procedure also apply to a 2000 tdi jetta 5 speed
also read up that the manifold gets caked in soot etc and could do with a good clean, any ideas on whats best to use? think I'll be doing mine soon. :)
When putting back together do you have to put a new gasket on the inlet manifold?
Great videos
You can if you want to, but i usually use the old one. Maybe add a little sealant if I really wanna make sure.
Good video, any chance you could show this procedure on a tdi 08 tiguan
I know it's been a while but How long does it take to do that
Great video, I plan to do this soon. My car is no where near as clean as that, which gaskets or bolts would you suggest I replace. And would you suggest cleaning the egr cooler or do you have to remove it for this process?
Is your car the same model?
Its a 2000 tdi alh jetta from canada.
I don't think you have a egg cooler on that engine code. Bolts should be fine but use a sealant like shown in the video.
Could you do a video for petrol gokf mk4 please.
Will you need to drain the engine oil when removing either the turbo? Or intake manifold?
I will be changing the oil when I replace the turbo, that will all be in the next video
Hey man was this an PD115 or an PD130 engine?
Its definitely not a 130 👍

Do i need to torque the intake mainfold?
No, just make sure you don't go shit tight
I already done that months ago.. but thanks anyway nigga! Can you do a tutorial about lowering a car with torsion bar?
always prefer to do it this way instead of dropping the drive shaft and trying to get the turbo out from underneath, which is a real pain.
Definitely
Thanks for the usefull video👍
helpfull video , man show how to correct install vacuumfuel pump( tandem pump)
Why are you swearing @ 3:55?
I don't remember swearing, sorry.
