    words like tired are not multi syllable words. i wish this had lasted longer.

  • @ddruxman3579
    @ddruxman3579 3 года назад

    Now hear this all Sirs and Ma'ams:
    Tired should have passed.
    One syllable . Sounds like 2 because the R-controlled vowel makes it necessary to pronounce a little extra schwa sound after the long I. It is, however, one.
    And there you have it. Demand a replay.

    Maybe I could make a show like this, but I'll need some more people to play and some more people to animate the show...
    That was just one thing I could work on in my channel...

  • @meels1221
    @meels1221 15 лет назад

    me neither. I feel like they should have added it to whoseline. like "now we're going to play a game called one syllable words! we're going to need to go to the green screen stage for this" then they go to the green screen stage in the other room with the other studio audience?

  • @doomyboi
    @doomyboi 12 лет назад

    @jimmyfallonfan98 It depends on whether you pronounce a /j/ in the middle of it or not. Some people pronounce it in one syllable, others in two.

    I don't know about it not doing well, but I hadn't heard of the show till I saw it on youtube. It's a shame, I like it better than whoseline. Except, of course, for the lack of Ryan and Wayne.

  • @Clarestovold

    • @AladeenMusic

      Ryan did do the unaired pilot, but he says the magic and imagination loses when you have animators animate the improv scene thats why he didnt do the show

  • @AshleyGossett

    Aw, if Brad hadn't done that last thing, he would of lasted the whole time. ;D

  • @RemusLupo
    @RemusLupo 14 лет назад

    so is a syllable just....when ur tongue has to move to make a different sound? if that made sense

    • @geoffnet1
      @geoffnet1 3 года назад +1

      Syllables typically contain one vowel phoneme (like ay, oh, uh, ee, ah, etc.) and are typically separated by consonant groups (like str, pl, d, cr, g, etc.) or diphthongs (like the 'yuh' sound in higher or the 'wuh' sound in lower). Example: "lower" has a diphthong, but "lore" doesn't, so they have 2 and 1 syllables, respectively.
      "Tired" is generally said as "tie-yurd", which has a diphthong ('yuh'), giving it 2 syllables. Sometimes, the diphthong can be suppressed, so it's much less noticeable, making "tired" sound like /tuhrd/, which has one syllable.

    The show also ended because Drew had a falling out/conflict with ABC. The WB is also a part of ABC. So that might explain why the show was ended. But love this format of improv a little bit more over WL, just a little. WL is the best. Not a real big fan of Wayne though, I think the shows do so much better without him. Just my opinion and liking.

      actually the WB was a SEPARATE channel(owned by Warner Bros) while ABC was owned by Disney, by the time Green Screen Show came out in 2004, Drew Carey Show Ended in ABC and previously, they stopped filming new whose line episodes(actually around 2001-2002 when they stopped filming but they had lots of left over episodes unaired so they aired "new" episodes in 2005-2007) but ABC has aired many Warner Bros produced shows since the 80s
